Story
https://foha.org/pet/mason/ Hi there! I'm Mason! I certainly am an adorable Rottie mix who loves and plays hard. I am a pro when it comes to games of fetch. I'll perform all sorts of acrobats, even jumping in the air and twisting in every direction to catch a ball! I'm even learning to bring the balls back! I love car (or truck) rides. And I never met a trail that I did not want to explore. I meet everyone at my kennel with either a toy in my mouth or my food bowl. I am so happy to show them off to everyone. I have a full body wiggle when my favorite people are coming to get me out for a walk. I like other dogs with proper introductions. When I find a dog I like, I'll run & play until we're both dizzy with exhaustion. I'm a true "ladies man and would thrive in a home with another delightful female companion. I can be a bit shy at first, but then turn on that southern charm. I need an experienced owner and I need to be introduced to strangers slowly. But once I trust, I will enjoy cuddling in your lap. If you are willing and able to put the time into training me I will be sure to do my best to learn. Like most Rotties, I form strong bonds with those I love. I'm what they call a "diamond-in-the-ruff who will make a great life-long companion. I have been waiting a long time for my forever home. Loving, loyal, full of life. Come meet me!

Current Location: Westminster, MD Hello! My name is Baby Girl! I'm coming to OPH on 3/13. Please check back soon for updates on my personality, and to see adorable new photos. I’m looking for my forever family! Is that with you? If so please click “apply for adoption” or submit an application through the Adopt tab. Let’s get our family started! This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Meet Riley With her stunning crystal-blue eyes and infectious smile, Riley is the kind of dog who turns heads everywhere she goes. But it’s her sweet personality that truly steals hearts. Riley’s journey began when she decided to take matters into her own paws. Looking for a fresh start, she wandered into a neighborhood BBQ through an open gate, introduced herself to the guests, and quickly became the life of the party. The delicious smells may have caught her attention, but it was her friendly, affectionate nature that won everyone over. Today, Riley is searching for a forever family of her very own. Riley is a loving, social girl who enjoys spending time with her people. She walks beautifully on a leash and is always ready for an adventure, whether that’s a stroll around the neighborhood or a trip to your favorite park. After a day of exploring, she’s happy to curl up beside you for snuggles and relaxation. Despite her athletic build, Riley is a gentle soul with a heart of gold. She loves attention, enjoys making new friends, and has a happy-go-lucky personality that brightens every room she enters. Her unforgettable blue eyes may be what first catches your attention, but her loyal, loving nature is what will make you fall in love. HARPER NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Harper and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (06/21) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Falls Church, VA (6100 - A Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)!     Name:   Harper          Best Guess for Breed:   Rottweiler mix   Best Guess for Age:   7 years as of April 2026         SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight:   55 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Harper is Looking For:    Harper is ready to start her next chapter. With her soulful eyes and gentle presence, she has a quiet charm that draws you in and makes you want to learn more about her.  Harper is at that wonderful stage in life where she’s past the puppy chaos but still has plenty of love and companionship to give. Whether it’s joining you for a walk, lounging nearby, or simply being your steady sidekick, Harper is ready to find a place to call her own. What My Foster Says About Me:    Harper is a fun-loving, incredibly sweet girl who thrives on affection—she’s happiest curled up next to you soaking up cuddles and ear scratches. Social and eager to be part of the family, she loves meeting new people and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Though she’s on the smaller side for a Rottie, she has the confident, easygoing spirit typical of her Rottweiler roots. She’s a low-maintenance companion with great manners. Harper rarely barks, walks beautifully on a leash, and settles easily in her crate for both overnight and daytime routines. She enjoys playtime with squeaky toys and may show a little playful stubbornness, but she’s responsive and builds trust quickly. Harper would do well as either a solo dog or with canine companions—she’s friendly, shares space and resources, and even enjoys grooming her dog friends. She’s also shown gentle curiosity toward other animals. She’s currently working on gaining weight after arriving underweight and is happily motivated by food and treats. While she may have a bit of stiffness in her rear legs, she gets around well and has handled stairs and walks (up to 2 miles!) with ease  A true couch companion at heart, Harper would love a home where she can relax by your side and be included in daily life. She’s still polishing her potty routine but is making steady progress with consistency. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate dog with a gentle nature and a playful streak, Harper might just be your perfect match. Story
Kiara – A Good Dog Who Needs the Right Environment Kiara didn’t get the start most dogs do. She came from a backyard “oops” litter without proper early socialization, which made the world overwhelming early on. Through structured training and consistent guidance at K9netic Pack, she has made a significant transformation into a confident, affectionate, and capable dog. Kiara was previously adopted and returned—not because she is a bad dog, but because the environment was not the right fit. She was placed in a high foot-traffic home with a lot of movement and little structure. For a dog like Kiara, that kind of environment creates overstimulation and confusion. Without clear leadership, she became overwhelmed. She also sheds, which is normal for her breed mix but was a contributing factor for the previous home. This is not a reflection of Kiara’s quality—it’s a reminder that placement matters. Temperament & Behavior Friendly, affectionate, and social with humans of all ages Playful, goofy, and engaging personality Handler-oriented and enjoys connection Does best with structure, routine, and clear expectations Kiara is a working-breed mix—intelligent, aware, and responsive when given direction. Training & Foundation Kiara comes with a strong, professionally built foundation: House manners Leash manners (walks well with no pulling) Socialization and neutrality in public environments Crate familiarity Foundational obedience including the basic 7 commands She understands how to exist in a structured environment and is set up for continued success. Dogs: Dog selective Best with calm, neutral, well-socialized dogs Requires proper, structured introductions Also thrives as the only dog Cats: Shows little interest, has never fully engaged with the cats here on property Children: Kiara is great with humans of all ages and has shown friendly, appropriate interactions. Ideal Home Kiara is best suited for: A structured, lower-chaos home An adopter who will provide leadership and consistency A home that understands working-breed needs Someone prepared for normal shedding of a Doberman/Shepherd mix She is not a “hands-off” dog—but she is absolutely a capable and rewarding one. Final Thoughts Kiara has already proven she can learn, adapt, and grow. She is not the problem—the environment was. In the right home, Kiara will be: Loyal Affectionate Playful Well-mannered and engaged She is a good dog with a strong foundation who simply needs the right structure and placement to thrive. 📍 Located in Poolesville, MD 🐾 Spayed, fully vetted, and professionally trained 📚 Adoption includes post-adoption support through K9netic Pack
