Lobo is blooming! This is the boy you adopt if your pups have been asking for a friend. He adores other dogs. He will run and wrestle all day long. He will make you laugh with his antics. He loves to help with the gardening and will find all the sticks in the yard to pick up and carry around and will pull some tasty leaves off plants at his level So how about the downside of Lobo? Well he came to us from a breeder in Oklahoma that was shut down by the humane society. He is just a baby still but he had minimal contact with kind people early in his life. He is still scared to be pet but is coming up for some chin scratches especially if food is involved. He is finally taking treats from his foster mom and dad's hands which is a huge milestone for this guy. He easily shares his toys and food with other dogs. We have discovered he loves going for walks but walks better if he has a buddy with him. He has the most gorgeous merle brush coat ( I just wish he loved us petting him) Lobo sleeps on a dog bed in his foster's bedroom. He has never tried to get up on the bed as much as we beg him too! He does love to sleep on the sofa especially when no one is watching. This boy has finally had his eyes done and a mini brow lift and OMG he can see. He has the most gorgeous green brown eyes. Lobo's forever home will definitely need someone who is patient and will give him time to come around. He will need another dog or 10 :) in his forever home who love to play. He is dog door trained so a yard would be a huge plus. He loves riding in the car and has become a huge fan of hiking with his foster family. Where are our bearcoat fans? Jek is finally ready for adoption. This girl is loving life in her foster home. She loves her crate but is also figuring out the world isn't that scary outside the crate. She is another one of our dogs that came from a breeder in Oklahoma after being seized by the Humane Society. Jek is great with other dogs and will need to go to a home with other playful dogs. She is good with both big and small dogs. She has been tolerant of the cats but may not be great with small animals as she does like to chase birds in the yard and has had some luck catching the not so smart dove. She is fostering with kids so no issues with her and children. You will just have to keep in mind that these pups can be a bit skittish but for whatever reason they love kids. Azula is coming to us from the El Paso Shelter and was found as a stray. Of course we wish she could talk to give us an inkling why such a sweet beautiful girl was out on her own. This girl is dripping in wrinkles but she is also very thin so we are working on adding some weight to her little body. She is great with kids and other dogs. She has met the resident cats and did give them a good chase in the backyard with her buddy Kuba in full pursuit so a cat free home might be the best. She has already started playing with Kuba so another dog in the home might be great for her. More than likely this girl will need entropion surgery but will confirm with our vet next week. She rides great in the car and is completely house trained. This girl has to be grabbing the heart of all you horse coat fans! She even has the cute butt roll wrinkle!October 10, 2024, 5:17 pm

Leia was the face of a Humane Society Raid on a breeder in Oklahoma. She was a happy wiggly girl in all the videos but was missing most of her hair due to neglect. She has had a full make over and fully recovered physically from her previous home but this girl still carries some of the mental scars of her previous home. She easily becomes frightened with loud noises. She would love a home that is willing to work with her and give her the time to become the best version of herself. She has a gorgeous tri color brush coat and one of the few dogs we take in that did not need entropion surgery. She will need a good diet to maintain her gorgeous coat. We typically recommend a fish based food for these pups. She is super affectionate with the people but also loves to play with other dogs. She may do best in a home with a male dog as she can be a bit bossy with the other ladies. She loves kids so that would be an added bonus. October 10, 2024, 5:17 pm

Story

Thomas came to the rescue from the county shelter’s euthanasia list in August of 2023. He was in a severely neglected state to the point where he couldn’t even stand up because he was so underweight and in so much pain. Worse, he was also battling severe pneumonia due to having such a weakened immune system. Under the care of our medical team, poor Thomas underwent an MRI, CT scan, additional bloodwork and x-rays. After all the diagnostics he was diagnosed with rampant valley fever that had taken over his body and fungal osteomyelitis that was attacking his bones as a result. Thankfully, this condition is entirely treatable but has resulted in a longer road to recovery for Thomas. He has overcome his pneumonia and put on much-needed weight. And while his body is still fighting the Valley Fever, Thomas’ quality of life has only continued to improve. He adores his foster home. He now loves to lay between his foster parents’ legs and even will wear pajamas to bed! He also enjoys the company of other dogs and cats, though he definitely wants to spend time snuggling with his people the most. He is house-trained, walks well on a leash and has started learning basic obedience. Thomas’ ideal home would be a quieter household without children and with someone home often who wouldn’t mind going on shorter strolls as he is a bit slower and stiffer when he moves. His long term care will include ongoing Valley Fever treatment. His Valley Fever is not contagious to other humans or pets, but he will need a family committed to continuing his medications and 3-6 month monitoring. We will provide these rechecks and cover the cost of the medications through our foster-to-adopt program. While Thomas loves being in his current foster home, he would love even more to find his forever family. Meet Joss, Joss is 3 years old, shar-pei mix, she is very sweet and curious, she is timid/shy when you first meet her, have some patience and she will be your best friend. She went out on a day trip with a volunteer friend, she walks amazing on leash, she always took her treats gently, and has no reaction to other dogs or people riding bikes, or joggers, she loves to give you kisses once she warms up.
