Bonnie is a nice-looking puppy with captivating dark eyes and a corkscrew tail. Because of her wrinkles sometimes she looks like she is scrunching up her nose. Bonnie is a 10 month old 41 pound Chinese Shar-Pei mix that came to Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 5/19 along with her sister Connie. Neither of the dogs are spayed. Before she came to me seeking attention, she had to check out the yard with her nose. Apparently her sense of smell is very important to her. She's got a friendly, lively, happy-go-lucky personality. She sits for treats, but then didn't particularly like the treat I offered her. She was not interested in chasing balls. She came when I called her. She occasionally jumped on me, but immediately got down when told to do so. She wants to please. She did her business when she got out into the yard. She walked relatively well on a leash. She wagged her tail when meeting other dogs in the bay. I did not observe any unfriendliness. Besides being a nice looking dog, she's got a well-rounded personality. She would most likely do well with an active family with children. She would like to be an integral part of your family and camp out with you at your feet or on the couch in the evenings.

I literally was met in Connie's kennel with tail wags and kisses! She is an example of what they talk about when they say,"the tail wags the dog!" Connie is a 10 month old 41 pound Chinese Shar-Pei mix that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 5/19 along with her sister Bonnie. Neither of them are spayed. Both are absolutely delightful and would make wonderful companions. Like her sister, Connie investigated the yard with her nose. Her sense of smell is obviously important to her. She did not know the sit command, but it was apparent she wanted to do what I was asking her to do. She does chase and retrieve balls. She is friendly, lively, playful, alert, affectionate, and well mannered! She would most likely do well with a family with children. She did her business as soon as she got out into the yard. She walked very well on a leash. She wiggled and waggled when she met other dogs in the bay. It was obvious she wanted to make friends. She came to me to have her ears scratched. She would like to be part of your family and hang out with you during family time! She would like nothing better than to cuddle with you or curl up at your feet.

I adopted Blanca 6 months ago. I was told that I would always be able to WFH so I felt comfortable taking her in. I live in an apartment so I thought I could spend a lot of time entertaining her while I was working from home. 1 month in I was called back into the office full-time. For the past 5 months, I tried to make it work by trying to give her outlets for her energy after work, but I feel like she could be so much happier. She's the sweetest, smartest, and most loving dog. She loves everyone and every dog. When I see her running around the dog park and playing with other dogs, I see how happy she can be. While I'm at work, she waits patiently at home for me. I would love to see her in a home with other dogs, an owner who is home often, and/or a large yard where she can play. She could RUN outside for hours. I will give you everything I own for her and all I ask is that you please give her a loving home and a great life.

Check out Ralphie's blond and black coat, but you might find his most adorable features are the wrinkles on his forehead giving him the nickname Wrinkly Ralph. He's just passed his second birthday and the more you get to know him, you'll see how playful and sweet this Shar Pei mix can be. Ralphie will sit on command, which isn't too difficult since he wants to be sitting next to his person anyway. Of course, if there's time for play, he's ready for that, too. He loves chasing his ball and hooping it up with his toys, either with people or with other dogs. Based on his passion for play and his easy-going temperament, he'd be happy having another dog to be his playmate and friend. He hasn't interacted with kids or cats just yet, but a home with a yard and space to play will brighten his world. Ralphie is cool with walks on his leash. He's healed up nicely from an injury in his past, but he still limps a little, so walking rather than running is a better option for outings. When it's time to call it a day, he'll sleep soundly in his crate, but why spend time in there during the day when there are toys and fun to be had.June 6, 2023, 10:48 am
