Story
Meet Fred — a 6-month-old male Chinese Shar Pei puppy who somehow mastered the art of chill before finishing teething.   Fred is a Velcro-level snuggle bug who believes personal space is a myth, but don’t worry—he’s also perfectly capable of entertaining himself like an independent little gentleman. He adores people and other pets, greeting everyone like they’re his long-lost best friend.   For a puppy, Fred runs on low to medium energy, meaning he’s refreshingly easygoing and already acts like he’s got an old soul (in a very squishy body). His super soft fur is basically a public service announcement encouraging nonstop petting—and yes, he fully supports this.   If you’re looking for a puppy who’s equal parts cuddle buddy, social butterfly, and laid-back loaf, Fred is ready to stick to you like your favorite hoodie  February 2, 2026, 5:29 pm

Story
Meet Aggie, a 6-year-old, 34-pound Shar Pei with a soft heart hidden beneath those beautiful wrinkles. Aggie is naturally timid and unsure about new people, but if you sit quietly with her, she slowly begins to trust—offering gentle kisses and allowing pets. She’s a curious girl who likes to quietly follow her humans around the house, making her a sweet, silent shadow during daily activities. Aggie would thrive with a confident canine companion who can help show her that people are safe. She’s beginning to explore toys, and we think she’ll discover her playful side with a little more time.Aggie also has some classic “wrinkly dog” skin sensitivities and will need an owner who can help her care for her coat and keep her comfortable. This tender-hearted girl just needs patience, love, and stability to truly shine.Walk-ins are available from Tuesday to Friday from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Saturday and Sundays have walk-in hours from noon to 4 PM. The best way to get in touch with us is by email: info@secondchancespca.org. Story
I’m the longest resident at the shelter, since February 2025. When I first arrived, I was underweighting and had a pretty bad skin infection. I’m now receiving treatment and an special diet to help me feel my very best and I’m currently in a foster home where I’m getting the love and care I deserve. I’m a very sweet, playful boy who’s ready to find a forever home that will love and take care of me.  I’m mostly indifferent just a little shy around cats. More than anything, I want a family who will give me the security, kindness, and fun I’ve been waiting so long for.” Mason is currently in a foster home please call the shelter at 972-744-4480 or email AskRichardsonAnimalServices@cor.gov to learn more and schedule a meet and greet with him!January 12, 2026, 12:11 pm

Story
Meet Zaida - Your Velcro Snuggle-Bug With the World’s Sweetest Paw-PatsZaida has boomeranged back to Hillcrest Animal Rescue through no fault of her own, and she trotted in the door as if she had never missed a single treat-time. This lovely girl greets everyone with a wag and quickly zeroes in on her person, where she prefers to stay, preferably curled up in a lap or pressed against your leg.Why you will fall for Zaida- Cuddle queen: She dishes out head-nuzzles, soulful adopt-me eyes, and the most adorable playful paw taps when she wants attention (which is often).- Social butterfly: Zaida generally plays well with other dogs, but she is still learning that not every pup loves a nose-to-nose hugs, so gentle reminders and calm introductions keep everyone happy.- Happy-go-bouncy: She can rev from 0 to 60 with excitement - think zoomies and wiggle-butt dance - so her best home will keep the hype low and the chill vibes high. A little structured play followed by snuggle time is her perfect day.- Velcro vibe: Expect a four-legged shadow. Whether you are binge-watching or answering emails, Zaida will be right there, offering moral support (and maybe sneaking in a few kisses).Zaidas ideal home- People who love affection and do not mind a dog that occasionally forgets the concept of personal space.- A moderately active household that balances play with downtime; over-stimulation can make her a tad overwrought.- Respectful canine companions are welcome with proper intros; she would also thrive as your one-and-only snuggle partner.Health & adoption details- Spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negativeReady for a lifetime of cuddles and paw-pat reminders that you are loved? Meet Red –  A True Soul Dog and Gentleman “Some dogs come into your life, and some dogs become your life. A soul dog is never just a pet—they are a part of you that finally made it home.” As his foster, I truly believe Red is one of those soul dogs, just looking for his true person. Red has faced challenges in life, but none of this was ever his fault. His previous family struggled to care for him consistently, yet he remained loyal, kind, and always there for them. Now he’s ready for a stable, loving forever home. Red is an 8-year-old, 86-pound Boxer mix with a honey-brown coat, soulful brown eyes, a striking white blaze and chest, and four white socks. He’s a gentle giant—loyal, smart, loving, and full of heart. Red is crate and house trained, walks perfectly on leash, knows sit and shake with both paws, rides beautifully in the car, and has excellent house manners. He is fantastic with kids, other dogs, and cats, he loves snuggles, Netflix marathons, calm walks when the weather is nice, and relaxing indoors on a cozy bed. Red is a true companion who simply loves being near you. Red deserves a home where he will be cherished as a full indoor family member, treated with love, patience, and stability. He is ready to give his whole heart to the family lucky enough to adopt him.
