He gets along with some dogs and preciously lived with another Sharpei, but prefers introductions and respectful boundaries. Solo likes to cuddle up with his humans and rests his heavy head on your lap, seeking gentle pets. An ideal home for Solo would be one with an outdoor space. Solo is house trained and is one smart pup, but can be stubborn! He enjoys short, leashed walks and appreciates a comfortable, cool place to rest. Tuesday may be a little shy when meeting new people, but with a little patience, her fun and spunky personality shines through. She loves to play and explore once she feels safe and secure. She does well with other dogs, but slow introductions are a must as she adjusts. Due to some food aggression, Tuesday will need to be fed separately from other pets in the home. With proper structure and care, she’ll thrive! Meet Betsy! She is a 3 yr old female Chinese Shar-Pei/Mastiff mix that weighs 80lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 3/28 as a stray. This precious girl has been through so much in her young life. She has been overbred, skin infection, ear infection, small growth on her left lip, and appears she has lived outside and hasn`t been treated well. She has been to the vet and is pending their report. In her eyes she looks defeated, but we are spending time with her to show her love she so rightly deserves. She even pulled out a toy from the toy box to play with. She walks well on a leash, takes treats gently, and doesn`t show any interest in other dogs. She is gentle and enjoys being petted. Sadly at times she will flinch when being petted. The more time I spent with her the more comfortable she became. She will need a hero that sees that she has some health issues, with meds, good food, and showering her with plenty of love, will love you to the moon and back.

Tyler is a gentle soul; one of the emotionally softest dogs you will ever meet. He had a hard start somewhere, we think he was pushed around and probably had a hard-handed owner in his puppyhood. Finally he’s learned to expect good things from humans in his life, learning to love belly rubs and head scratches. He lives with lots of other dogs and gets along with or avoids them. He seems to think the dogs that want to rough house and play might hurt him so while he could live with other dogs he wouldn’t be a good playmate for another kiddo in his home.Initially Tyler was terribly afraid of a leash but will now leash walk with gentle coaching, he can not be pulled or forced which scares him still. He will now go through doorways and use a doggie door but will need time to adjust to both in a new environment. His foster mom usually just leaves a door wide open for him or takes him through with a leash. He’s come a long way but still has work to do in those areas.He doesn’t have much vision in his right eye which may be why he has trouble with steps/stairs and should be in a home where he doesn’t have to navigate those on a regular basis. He is also a bit hard of hearing so getting his attention through sight is imperative.Tyler has learned to come when his foster calls him and how to suck up when he wants her attention. He is a handsome, English Bulldog and is very typical of the breed other than learning his true worth.Tyler is fully vetted - current with his vaccines, neutered, on heartworm and flea/tick prevention; and he is microchipped.
