Story
Huey is young and therefore has a lot of energy. He loves attention and to be kept busy. Huey is active, smart, and loves kids and other dogs. He sees every new face as a potential playmate. He would do best in a home with another play mate or an active family. At the facility he has staff and volunteers that have spent extra time with him in training, teaching commands and helping him take out all his pent-up energy. Huey is always ready for a walk, run, hike or a training session. Extremely treat motivated and very focused of what's being asked of him to do. Huey still needs more training, but he is an amazing dog. He loves to please his person and would love to have a job. His perfect home would be one with one or two people that are very active and super involved in his training or a family that has the time to take him on walks and keep his mind and body active. He won't do well in a house that wants a couch potato dog or calm dog. He needs stimulation to be calm afterwards. He was born in Jan 2020 and is located at the rescue. Included with adoption: Age-appropriate vaccinations, up to date heart-worm preventative, heart-worm test if over 6 months, microchip with registration, and spayed or neutered- if not already, a voucher is provided. Story
Elsa was born in November 2014. She loves to show off her smile! Elsa loves to play and go on walks. She weighs in at a muscular 74 lbs. and with age she has become somewhat protective and less trusting. While she loves being loved, she is also very protective of those she lives with making her an excellent guardian dog. There is a bump on the top of her head which has been there since birth and has had regular visits for shots/well checks every year. She generally sleeps on a dog bed but has no issue plopping down and taking a nap anywhere. Elsa's best home would be one where she is the only animal in the house and if kids, they should be older. She would love a low traffic household were she can get most of the attention. Included with adoption: Age-appropriate vaccinations, up to date heart-worm preventative, heart-worm test if over 6 months, microchip with registration, and spayed or neutered- if not already, a voucher is provided. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Marigold is a 3 year old, 37 lb Shar Pei mix. Sweet Goldie (aka Marigold) came from a not-so-great environment, but within a couple of days, she settled in very nicely at her foster home. Goldie became buddies with the resident dogs and all visitors. She has never had an accident at her foster home, and she is trusted with run of the house when foster mom is gone. Goldie has the most "smooshable", wrinkly face, a rough bristly coat, a little corkscrew tail, and the cutest little ears! She loves cuddling humans, chasing her dog buddies around the yard, and is happy to entertain herself with toys. Goldie loves giving kisses, but she might be a little too clumsily affectionate for very small humans. Please submit your application, and one of our adoption counselors will contact you.

Story
Luna is always excited to say hello to people. She's also a super sniffer. While she can be skiddish and scared of unfamiliar things, she's always curious and sweet. Care: Lune is a Shar Pei and that means she needs some extra attention above walking and feeding and playing. Her wrinkles under her mouth do need to be wiped after she feeds, and it's a good idea to keep a hand towel close by her water bowl because her mouth can drip a lot after she drinks water. It's highly recommended to not let her skin stay wet. This can lead to bacteria growth in her wrinkles. After she drinks water, she knows to wait and have her mouth wiped. She likes to hear "good wipe!" when she's done. Luna has skin allergies associated with her breed (Shar Pei). We have found that a daily allergy pill (Apoquel) works well to keep her allergies at bay, along wtih medicated wipes. We also wash her ears once or twice a week and put a medicated ointment in her ear that helps with ear/skin inflamation.

Story
Luna is a 3 year old Shar pei with a sweet disposition. She loves to be around people and to play fetch. She is good around kids and young children. She has never showed aggression towards people but because she can be a dominant dog, might bully smaller dogs than she is but has never attacked any dog. She has chronic health issues like reoccurring ear infection skin allergies that have led to skin infections and is in need of someone who can take care of her as she is high maintenance. She has graduated obedience school as we got her from Petland so she knows the Commands: Sit, Stay, Lay Down, Leave it, Down. Additional commands we have taught her are: Spin,Shake, “Bang Bang” (play dead), Belly (when we need to look at the skin on her belly) , Fetch. Unfortunately we can no longer keep up with her vet visits as she is quite pricey because of her allergies to basically anything outside particularly Bermuda grass and will need to eventually see a dermatologist for long term care.

Story
DOB:  10/9/22 Precious one year old girl, GEMMA, was found alone and frightened. Luckily, a kind hearted soul took her in and brought her to us.  She is a sweet, submissive SHAR-PEI MIX.  The first time we met, she lowered herself to the ground and rolled over timidly to have her belly scratched.  Gemma is a little skittish and nervous in the shelter.  Once out, feeling safe and secure, she will become a devoted, loving companion.  She is a great, medium size doggie with beautiful coloring.  Ready to give her a new Leash on Life?   Please fill out an online application or drop by to meet her! $200 Adoption Fee covers immunizations, spay/neuter, microchip, and 1 month of Heartworm Preventative.  All dogs should be on Heartworm Prevention for their lifetime. For all pet inquiries, please email our Adoption Director at adoptions@dognkittycity.org or text the shelter at (214) 350-7387.
