Huey is young and therefore has a lot of energy. He loves attention and to be kept busy. Huey is active, smart, and loves kids and other dogs. He sees every new face as a potential playmate. He would do best in a home with another play mate or an active family. At the facility he has staff and volunteers that have spent extra time with him in training, teaching commands and helping him take out all his pent-up energy. Huey is always ready for a walk, run, hike or a training session. Extremely treat motivated and very focused of what's being asked of him to do. Huey still needs more training, but he is an amazing dog. He loves to please his person and would love to have a job. His perfect home would be one with one or two people that are very active and super involved in his training or a family that has the time to take him on walks and keep his mind and body active. He won't do well in a house that wants a couch potato dog or calm dog. He needs stimulation to be calm afterwards. He was born in Jan 2020 and is located at the rescue. Included with adoption: Age-appropriate vaccinations, up to date heart-worm preventative, heart-worm test if over 6 months, microchip with registration, and spayed or neutered- if not already, a voucher is provided. Kow was born in 2014. He was returned to us in 2016 because his owners were mistreating him, and he became scared and reactive to some people. He has learned to trust people again and even though it might take some time to warm up he seems more comfortable. He is very spoiled by staff and volunteers. He loves the water and to run in the play yards. Kow would do best in a low traffic home, and he would love to go on walks with his owners. We do not recommend young children because of his past abuse.Included with adoption: Age-appropriate vaccinations, up to date heartworm preventative, heartworm test if over 6 months, microchip with registration, and spayed or neutered- if not already, a voucher is provided.

Meet Harper! Harper is 7 weeks old and currently weighs 10 pounds. We think she’s some sort of sharpei bully mix. But whatever she is she’s the cutest ball of wrinkles we’ve ever seen! Just look at that crinkle face! She has a silly personality; full of humor and energy, she loves playtime, cuddles, the company of other dogs, and her people. She has amazing puppy breath and gives the sweetest kisses! Her foster family is working with her on crate training, potty training, and some basic commands and she is catching on quickly! Let me introduce you to Eddie, an interesting mixture of possibly Sharpei/lab/pit that arrived as a stray at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/29. Though he is not one of our longer-term residents, he would still be thrilled to leave the confines of his kennel and get settled into his dream home. He weighs 66 pounds, is about 2 years old and is neutered. One of our volunteers described him as a big love bug, a sweet, affectionate, happy, tail-wagging fellow. He's got a lot of personality! He loves toys and during his eval he was accumulating them from our toybox and playing with them. Eddie likes treats, will sit for them and takes them nicely. He does jump on you occasionally but not excessively. He's a happy-go-lucky fellow that is amiable and fun-loving. There's a lot to like about Eddie. He walks ok on a leash, but does have a strong pull. He may be house trained as he pottied in the yard. He would undoubtedly enjoy walks or perhaps become a good running buddy. He will need some good decompression time and separation from other family pets in order to acclimate. This is something every dog should be given. Oh, and high on the priority list of his dream home, he would like to be an integral part of the family circle. Living as an outside dog is not the dream home for any dog.

She will come over for a little petting behind the ears but when she's done, she's done. This beautiful character will amaze you with her quick reflexes and her desire to earn treats. You will fall in love with her. There's just no way you couldn't.Lancel was part of a breeder dumping situation in Big Sandy Texas. She is about 2 year old and a Shar Pei mix.
