Story
Jolene is a 3 year old husky/shepherd mix. She is sweet, smart, and energetic. She knows basic commands, is potty trained and crate trained. She does require a daily walk or game of fetch. She is a bit skittish and we think it’s best to find her a home with older kids that can understand her need for space. We do have another dog who she gets along with great.

Story
Meet Smokey!Sometimes, the best companions come from the toughest beginnings. Smokey is a stunning 1.5-year-old Siberian Husky who arrived at our facility under heartbreaking circumstances. Despite the weight of his past, this 55lb boy is looking forward with a wagging tail and a hopeful heart. The True Husky ExperienceSmokey is a `Husky’s Husky.` If you know the breed, you know exactly what that means!High Energy: He has zest for life that won’t quit. He’s looking for an active partner for runs, hikes, or long adventures.Typical Husky Charm: He is vocal, opinionated, and incredibly smart. He’ll keep you entertained with his `conversations` and classic northern-breed antics.Vetting: He is fully vetted and ready to head home today.A Heart of GoldWhile we were called to the scene by the Balch Springs Police Department to bring Smokey into our care, no one has come to claim him. It is clear that he has been through a lot, yet he remains a `sweet boy` through and through. He doesn`t let his history define him; he just wants a human to bond with. The Perfect MatchSmokey needs a family that understands the Siberian Husky spirit—someone who can provide the physical exercise and mental stimulation he craves. In return, you’ll get a loyal, high-energy best friend who has a mountain of love to give.Smokey has been waiting patiently for a second chance. Will you be the one to give it to him?Interested in Smokey?Visit us at the shelter to meet this resilient boy in person and see those striking eyes for yourself!

Story
Meet Kendra! Looking for a diamond in the rough? Meet Kendra, a stunning 8-month-old Husky mix who is ready to find her true `forever` pack.Kendra’s journey to us was a bit of a whirlwind. She found herself at the shelter after her previous owners struggled to keep her safely contained, leading her to spend a little too much time exploring the neighborhood on her own. To keep her safe and sound, she’s now looking for a home that understands the adventurous spirit of her breed while providing the security she needs.Kendra’s Personality Profile:The Shy Sweetheart: Kendra can be a little bashful when she first meets new people. She isn’t the type to jump into your arms immediately, but give her a few treats and a gentle word, and you’ll watch her blossom into a loyal companion.Social Butterfly: She is dog-friendly! Having a canine sibling might actually help her build confidence and feel more at home.Health Status: She is fully vetted (spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped), so she is 100% ready to head home today. The Ideal Home:Kendra is looking for an owner who understands that `Husky life` is an active life. She needs a family that will help her tap into her wild side through structured exercise, hiking, or mental enrichment games. Most importantly, she needs a secure yard where she can zoom to her heart`s content without the temptation to go on a solo trek.If you have the patience to earn her trust and the energy to keep up with her spirit, Kendra will reward you with a lifetime of adventure.

Story
Meet Atlas: A Resilient Heart Looking for a Soft Place to LandThe Story of AtlasAtlas is a four-year-old Shepherd mix who truly lives up to his name. For a long time, he carried the weight of a difficult past, coming to us from a situation where he didn’t receive the care or kindness every dog deserves. When he first arrived, his spirit was quiet, and his body was weary, but through it all, he has remained one of the most gentle souls we have ever had the privilege to care for.Health & HealingAtlas is fully vetted, neutered, and up-to-date on all vaccinations. He is currently being treated for flea dermatitis, which has left his coat looking a little thin in spots. Please don`t let his `work-in-progress` look deter you! Underneath those itchy patches is a beautiful, loyal dog who is healing more and more every day. He is taking his treatments like a total champ, seemingly grateful for the relief and the soft touch of a human hand.Personality & TraitsIncredibly Sweet: Atlas is a professional snuggler. Despite his rough start, he hasn`t let it harden his heart. He craves affection and will leaning into you for pets the moment he feels safe.Dog Friendly: One of Atlas`s best qualities is how well he gets along with other dogs. He is social, patient, and would likely do very well in a home with a canine sibling to help build his confidence.Resilient: There is a quiet strength in Atlas. He is looking for a family that understands he may need a little extra patience as he learns what it’s like to live in a loving home. The Ideal HomeAtlas is ready to trade the weight of the world for the weight of a warm blanket. He would thrive in a home where he can get plenty of belly rubs and the assurance that he will never be neglected again. Whether you have another dog for him to play with or you just want a loyal companion to join you on the couch, Atlas is ready to be your best friend. Are you the one to show Atlas that his `not so great` days are officially over?
