Nala is a 3 yr-old 55 lb tan and black German Shepherd that was surrendered on 6/3 along with a housemate Nina. The couple’s son owned these two dogs, but the parents had too many dogs to keep them. Nala lived with other dogs and children from ages 10 to 14 without a problem. She knows the sit and stop commands. I get the feeling she hasn’t had a lot of socialization. She will come to you but seems to be more comfortable roaming on her own. She paced back-and-forth in the yard and got excited when someone was walking a dog beyond the gate. It appeared she wanted to make friends. She still is not sure of the shelter environment and could use a dose of TLC. She’s cautiously friendly, somewhat nervous, alert, and very sweet. She walks fairly well on a leash. And to top that all off she’s quite a looker! We all know how smart German shepherds are. Could you find it in your heart to open your home to this deserving lass? She wants to snuggle up close to you on the couch or at your feet while you’re watching TV.

Meet Bruno! He is a 2 yr old male German Shepherd mix that weighs 65lbs. When reviewing in Dog Scanner, its possible he may have some Norwegian Elkhound and Dutch Shepherd in his mix. He came in on 6/12 as an owner surrender. Reason was they could no longer care for me. He is a very handsome boy with very soft fur. He will be one to need periodic grooming. He has a gentle personality, he enjoys being petted and takes treats gently. He takes in every smell in every room and outside walks too. Walking past other dogs barking at him, he showed no interest but we do ask if there is another dog in the home, please ask the shelter for a dog test. He does like toys, but hasn`t decided on a favorite one. He would love to find his forever family that can offer him a secured backyard to scout out, yet live indoors where he can spend time with his family companions, and snooze the day away. Come meet this great boy!!

Meet Ritz! He is a 2 yr old neutered male Shepherd mix that weighs 66lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 3/18 as a stray. He is a great boy! Once out of his kennel, he walks great on a leash, and out to play yard to stretch his legs. He happily pranced and galloped back-and-forth in the yard. At one point he chased some balls, but he didn’t retrieve them. He is a very alert and curious pup. He does jump on you but with redirection he does respond. He loves to sit right next to you for plenty of pets and treats, which he takes gently. While in his kennel he has a quiet, calm demeanor, but he does hope he will find his forever family soon. He would enjoy having an active family that could give him the enrichment he needs. Ritz would do well with an active family that has a secured backyard and lives in a home, not an apartment, so he can enjoy his time with his loved ones. Come meet Ritz

Shelby is very sweet, loving and deserving of a good home where she’s well cared for. Judging from the fly bites on her ears, the fact that she’s had a litter not too long ago, and that her ribs are showing indicate to me that she has probably been an outside dog. She deserves to be an inside dog where she can get an abundance of TLC! Shelby is a three-year-old 60 pound shepherd mix that arrived at the Mesquite Shelter on 11/14 as a stray. She is already spayed! I was met at her kennel with tail wags. When I got her out into the yard, she spent a lot of time exploring with her nose. Her sense of smell is obviously very important to her. She sits for treats but doesn’t stay in that position for very long. She came to me for extra loving. I get the feeling she may not have had a whole lot of socialization. She’s friendly, loving, well mannered, easy-going, and very alert. She definitely wanted to know what was going on beyond the gate., She didn’t have a problem meeting other dogs, and she walks OK on a leash . Please open your heart and your home to this lovable pup.

Meet Roscoe! He is a 1 1/2 yr old male German Shepherd mix that weighs 59lbs. He may have a bit of Black Mouth cur in his mi too. He was surrendered on 6/5 to the Mesquite Animal Shelter. Reason for surrender is they could no longer care for him. Roscoe greets everyone he meets with a smile on his face. He was such a joy to spend time with. Tho he may have lived outside, he definitely wants to be an inside pup spending his time cuddling with his forever family. This happy go lucky boy knows the sit command, takes treats gently and enjoys being petted. Walking past other dogs barking at him, he showed no interest in them but we always ask if there is another dog in the home, please ask the shelter for a dog test. He is not fond of cats, so his future home cannot have them. He enjoys going for walks, and hopes to have a secured backyard he can stretch his legs in, but then come back inside where it is cool where he can cuddle close on the couch with his human companions. This boy has captured my heart and I know when you meet him you will feel the same!
