Story
Junior and his mom, Jaymie, were heartbreakingly left behind when their family moved out in September 2024. Jaymie had already endured so much, having given birth to two litters, and now she and Junior were left to fend for themselves. For months, they were fed just by the landlord and remained alone until January 2025, when a loving foster family finally took them in. Both were severely overweight and covered in fleas. Kind-hearted people tried to keep them together, passing them between homes, but no one was able to fully commit to adopting them both. After months of searching for help, their fosters reached out to Shelter Hope, hoping for a second chance. Since then, Junior and Jaymie have begun to thrive. They’re slowly shedding the extra weight — and with it, their playful spirits are shining through once again. Both are house-trained and will let you know when they need to go out, usually every 2–4 hours. At night, they’re good about using pee pads. They are gentle, loving dogs who are great with people, other dogs, and kids — but they will chase cats. More than anything, they’re two sweet souls who have been through a lot, are finally feeling safe, and are hoping to find the forever family they deserve. Be ready to adopt. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation. Please fill out our online application and our adoption counselor will reach out to you to discuss meeting your new family member.

Follow the tabs to 'dogs for adoption'. Meet Kiko! This adorable 15-pound Shih Tzu is between 3-4-year-old bundle of joy, boasting a sweet, loyal, and affectionate personality. Kiko is a healthy gentleman who thrives on attention and interaction. When he's not cuddling on your lap or playing with his favorite squeaky toys, Kiko loves to explore and get some exercise in a securely fenced yard. He's also a great walking buddy, although he will need a bit of practice on his leash manners. As a housebroken and well-mannered indoor companion, Kiko is ready to bring joy and companionship to his forever home. While he'd love a house with a yard, he's not suited for apartment or condo living. If you're looking for a loyal friend to share your life with, Kiko might be the perfect fit. With his loving personality and adaptable nature, he's sure to steal your heart. No one will ever love you more than Kiko!
