Story
Meet Chewy, a dapper 8-year-old fellow abandoned at the shelter because of skin issues. People can be so cruel. Chewy, though, is a very forgiving soul and knows a loving family will come along soon. Until then, we’re treating his skin and envisioning the day his luxurious coat returns. Healthy in every other way, Chewy weighs 13 pounds and is neutered, microchipped, and current on his vaccines. So, you’d better get ready ‘cause this gentleman is ready to steal your heart.

Hi! I'm Hamlet! Nice to meet you! I'm a 4 year old, 15 lb Shih Tzu mix! Cute CUTE CUTE! Nice guy, too! I am fostered with other dogs and I love them. A home with a dog pal would be really great. I am crate trained and house broken (might need reinforcement in a new and unknown space). Can't wait to meet you! *please note All of our dogs are in private foster homes. Once you fill out an application it will be screened by our volunteer adoption team. From there, if your application looks like a good fit for the particular dog, it will be sent to the foster where you can ask all the questions you would like and schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs. If you apply from out of state we do request you come to Los Angeles to meet us and fly home in cabin or drive. www.apurposefulrescue.org

Story
Adorable Merlin is a fantastic, playful and loving boy. Rescued from a high kill shelter in Riverside, Merlin was so grateful to be saved. He came to us horribly matted. He had to shaved down completely. I can't imagine the pain and discomfort he was forced to live in. Now he has a fresh start! Merlin loves his toys and particularly loves to play fetch. He is 1.5 years old and weighs 17 pounds. All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes which enables us to learn more about them in a home environment. We do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis, but rather to the home best suited for them. An application, adoption fee and contract are required. Please direct all questions to adopt@crdogrescue.com. All our dogs can be met with an approved application. Thank you for looking at a rescue dog for your next family member.

Story
Peggy is a 2 year old Shih Tzu mix and is sweet as can be! She loves kids and women, but it takes her a few hours to warm up to men. She was found as a stray and brought to the Long Beach shelter about a month ago. She has been vetted and has no medical issues. She is about 80-90% potty trained and does well if taken outside every 3-4 hrs. Peggy would do great as an only dog or with another playful playmate. She has a lot of puppy energy here and there, but is also happy to snuggle and lounge at your side. She loves to go on walks and does well in car rides. Peggy gets along with other dogs and her foster thinks she would do fine around cats (although her instinct is to chase ones she sees on walks). Peggy has a great appetite and is very food motivated which would make it easier to train her. She needs a little work on puppy manners which her foster thinks she will phase out of naturally. We would love to find Peggy a wonderful home.

Story
This little beauty is Chloe! We rescued this sweet girl from a hoarding situation where 17 dogs were kept in covered cages 22 hours a day. We got all the dogs out safely. Chloe is a 6 year old, 17lb female Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu mix. She is very sweet and friendly with people, but is a little selective with her doggy friends. We definitely want her to go into a home with another dog, but need to make sure it's the right fit. She would not do well as an only dog. Better yet, she could go into a home with her bestie, Tali, a 1-2 year old, female Maltipoo that is about 15lbs. They are perfect together and there would be no issues of dogs getting along. Chloe would be best in an adult only home, children 13 years and older would be fine. A home with a safe and secure backyard is a must as she absolutely loves to sit outside and stare up at the sky on a warm summer night. Chloe is great in the car and good on leash. She does take time to warm up to new people and dogs, but once she feel safe and comfortable, she is all about being your bff. Chloe would love a family who is home most of the day or works from home, so she isn't left long hours alone. If you can give her the patience, time, and love to blossom, then you will be rewarded with the best dog ever! Chloe is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. We only adopt in the Greater Los Angeles areas as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial period are required. Her adoption fee is $550. Story
This little adorable and fluffy boy is Murphy! He came to our rescue when we spotted him at the shelter where he came in as a stray. We got him out immediately and put him in an amazing foster home where he is getting yummy food, a warm bed, and lots of love! Murphy is an approximately 7/8 year old, 13lb male ShihTzu/Yorkie mix that is as cute as can be! We are looking for a home for him with owners that are home most of the day and ideally work from home. He is one of the most sweet, mellow, and affectionate dogs you will ever meet! We do have to say he is not potty trained yet and does mark, but with patience and lot of positive reinforcement...he will definitely get it! If you are looking for a dog that is so serene and laid back....Murphy is the dog for you. Murphy is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. We only adopt in the Greater Los Angeles Areas as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial period are required. Murphy's adoption fee is $500 Please contact us at: Gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020

Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET FREDDIE…and yes, his mom is Snookie! This petite, sweet, funny, 4 yr old, 10 lb, gray/brown, Shih Tzu Terrier (yes, mom is a Shih Tzu) needs to find a new home because his human was on life support (and has since passed) 🙁 He came to us with his mom (Pic #4) and his sister Pinky. Freddie is a very well natured boy. Loves everyone, men/women and other dogs. He is hilarious zooming around the house and yard with his canine pal, George. There is no question, while Freddie can be a couch potato (perched, of course), he loves other dogs and wants one of his own — young and playful! He is uber affectionate, kissy, loves toys; we think he is even good with cats (he doesn’t chase squirrels). His potty training, with many walks outside, has been good — only one accident — but no guarantees at your house! Freddie loves to look outside and may even whimper to get out and play! This soft, non shedding, little scruffy is a real sweetheart and deserves whatever his heart desires. That might be you…are you a fit? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. We will contact you once it has been reviewed. Lhasa Happy Homes will be now holding our adoption events the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month on Main Street in Santa Monica (check calendar link below for special events and directions). Our event is located at 2116 Main Street, in Santa Monica, CA. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household. Main Street is famous for its innovative shops and is close to the beach! Make a day of it!! Metered parking on the street and free parking on 4th and Bicknell Streets. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring pictures or video of your home and yard if we have not done a home check (preferred)! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting! Don't forget to check out our Events Calendar for more information on upcoming events! Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET MOKI and LOKI….and while we didn’t name them, they are hilarious and the names seem to suit them! We’re not sure if this duo are brothers, but they are definitely a bonded pair. Loki is a little smaller, at 10 lbs, white/tan, 4 yrs old and Maltese Shih Tzu (the underbite is a dead giveaway and they have the same eyes); Moki is 11 lbs, tri colored, 4 yr old Shih Tzu. When they were brought to the shelter, they were a mess and the shelter shaved them (see Pic 4). This pair was placed in a home and returned after two weeks. Unfortunately, it was not the right fit. Like siblings, they occasionally get on each other’s nerves and Moki can get over stimulated, and they fight. They can also get overstimulated on walks when they see other dogs/people, so this needs to be handled. They are better with very calm environments, people and activity. We decided there were more pros than cons and have chosen not to split them up. They need a home that can manage them, as we have, without issue. They will definitely need training…actually, the family will need it also! Almost as soon as they arrived, they bonded to the foster. They were giving us love and kisses and rolling all over us like they had been our dogs for years! Obviously, from the way they looked at the shelter, these two characters did not had a wonderful life. Moki was so matted he was unrecognizable; Loki looks pretty good in this picture, but looks are deceiving. He was a matted, smelly mess! Moki is the more outgoing/dominant of the two. He loves toys, great on walks and does his business outside (but no promises he won’t mark to remind you he has arrived!). Definitely not shy! Loki isn’t much of a trickster, he follows Moki’s lead and has come around quickly. He likes to chase after toys, but Moki gets there first and Loki is mostly okay with that (except when he isn’t)! Neither of them like to be ignored and they will let you know by barking for your attention, so they need a home where people will be around for them. Are you up for the challenge of two mini mighty pups who want to be your forever kids? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET CHURRO….and we named him that because he is sweet as sugar! (but don’t get between him and his food!) This little 5 yr old, 12 lb, tan/black, scruffy but very soft ShihTzu Terrier (non shedding) is a character. Those big brown eyes will capture your heart in a NY minute! He was turned in by his owner’s children because they were ill and Churro wasn’t getting the attention he deserved. He lived half the time outside, the other half inside. I didn’t get the impression that they were dog people, as he really hadn’t had any training…but he is very smart! He stopped marking in the dog room in a week, but he does still have an accident or two in the house, so he just needs to know where to go. He is good on a leash but he does pull, so he would benefit from training. Sometimes he is extremely assertive on the street with other dogs, so he needs to be introduced slowly — and he is protective of his person, so the same with strangers (although he is 99% of the time wonderful). Churro is extremely playful with his roomie, sometimes a little too rough, so he needs to go to a home where he has a canine companion to play with him! Even bigger would be okay! Kids over 12+ yrs old would be welcomed. He is very food dominant and when it’s out…it’s his, so this needs to be observed at feeding time. Churro loves to cuddle and give you kisses to let you know how much he appreciates your attention. He is not a big barker and does not bark when you leave…but he’d love to sit at your feet or on your lap while you work…so maybe you have a place reserved for him? He’s waiting! Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET MS. STELLA…a sweet (but at times a little fearful) 4.5 yr old, 12 lb, tan/black Shih Tzu mix. We’ve had several dogs with this coloring this year and we don’t know what the mix is, so you might have to do a DNA!! All we can say is she has not had it easy. Her family lost their home in a flood, she was staying with friends for several months and at the end of the day, the family had to give her up for a better life. They believed we could find it for her and we will!!! When given up, Stella had a horrible UTI and ended up needing bladder stone surgery as a result of bacteria. Surgery was successful and they should not reoccur. She is a big kisser — but not on your face (you’ll have to try peanut butter to get that result!). She can be independent but she would rather be snuggly and then go off to explore! She loves her walks, people, other dogs. We haven’t seen any engagement so far, so we believe she could be an only dog if you work from home and can give her a lot of attention. She is especially adoring when it comes to feeding time and she will eat almost anything …. including zucchini, lettuce, all treats and she loves french fries! Still a bit fearful when you go to pick her up if she doesn’t know you or you surprise her…but other than that, she is a gem! She will let out a little cry that might scare you silly!! She was wonderful at the groomers…seems to be potty trained, or will go on a pp pad if necessary, but we never guarantee! Her tummy was a little food sensitive when she arrived, but otherwise very food oriented. The perfect home for Stella will be one that will care for her properly, take her to the vet when needed, feed her good food and love her to pieces! Because of her fearfulness, we don’t believe she should go to a home with children, but over 12+ would probably be alright (if they are gentle). Does that sound like you? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Story
Little Pepper’s time in the shelter was harrowing to stay the least. She was so scared that all she could think to do was protect herself by not allowing people to get near her. We saw the fear in her big eyes, though, as she tried to melt into the back of the kennel, and we had to save her. This pretty girl is 3 years old with a beautiful silky chocolate and tan coat. Her wonderfully big ears stand at attention as she listens to our soothing words and gently takes treats from our hands. With love and kindness, Pepper will learn that people can be trusted. Before you know it, she’ll be your loyal companion, ready to take on the world as long as you are by her side. Pepper weighs 11 pounds and is microchipped and vaccinated. She will be spayed as part of her adoption. In the meantime, she’s waiting for you to come and whisk her away!
