Story
Meet Mr. Wonderful! This sweet boy was found wandering the streets of Compton, scared, alone, and unsure who to trust. He had no microchip, and after a 10-day stray hold Shelter Hope took him. We got him fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and now he is thriving in foster care, ready for his second chance. Sadly, he has been patiently waiting for his forever home at Shelter Hope for over 4 months. Mr. Wonderful is a tender-hearted 1.5 year old Shih Tzu mix, weighing just 15 lbs. With soulful eyes, a charming underbite, and a beautiful spirit, Mr. Wonderful lives up to his name in every way. Once he feels safe, he becomes a total cuddlebug who loves pets and snuggling in your lap to soak up affection. But he isn’t just about snuggles. Mr. Wonderful is an energetic, enthusiastic guy who loves to zoom around, and play with anyone up for some fun. And the best part? His foster says if you ask him for a kiss, he will run up to you and shower you with love. Mr. Wonderful is a jumper, so he will need a home with a tall, secure fence. He can be a little nervous with new people, but with a bit of patience and kindness, he will soon be climbing into your lap looking for love. Our foster says he does great with older kids who can give him the initial slow introduction he needs to feel comfortable. Mr. Wonderful is ready for the warm and loving family he deserves! —----- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Step 1) Application Step 2) Phone Interview Step 3) Appointment Shelter Hope is operating by appointment only. Be ready to adopt: If selected, our rescue counselor will contact you to schedule a phone interview. Please monitor your email and spam folder for our message. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation. Due to high demand, especially for popular dogs, not all applicants will be contacted. Moreover, we may not reach out if we have already approved a family to adopt. The process can take several days. Thank you for your patience!

Teddy is such a sweet boy; unfortunately, my daughter and I are both allergic to him. He's playful, cuddly, and housetrained. He would be a great fit for someone who works from home as he loves being around people.

Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION INTRODUCING HALO AND HAVEN…a precious pair of 4-5 yr old, 9 lb and 7.5 lb (respectively), white Shih Tzu, who have been together all their lives. Their owner passed away and they were given to another senior who really could not properly care for them. When they got out of the house, they were taken to the shelter in Westminster. We were alerted to please get them out, which we did. We are not sure if Haven is the mom or the girlfriend — our guess is that she is his mom and only slightly older than Halo. It’s obvious Haven has had a few litters of puppies, but we don’t know if Halo was one of them? While they are very bonded, Haven does NOT like it when Halo mounts her and she will let him know! Other than that, they are two peas in a pod! Halo is more outgoing, will seek out love and attention and loves to cuddle and kiss. Haven is also very cuddly and snuggly, but isn’t as forthcoming as Halo. They are amazingly sweet and wonderful on walks, with other dogs and with people. They love attention! Halo likes to chase after toys, always beating Haven, and greet you with love and happiness! Haven chases after toys but doesn’t know what to do with them once she gets there and acquiesces to Halo! She also makes you work a little harder for her love but when she gives it….there’s nothing like it! Both are easy to care for — pretty calm and easy going — but they will bark from time to time to get your attention. They came with ear infections and have been easy to treat. Since they have never been apart from each other, we did not believe they should be separated. Now that they have been spayed/neutered, the mounting should end! Best home would be one where they have a yard to do their business but also go on walks — where family gives a lot of attention and kids over 8 yrs old are welcomed. Just keep the doors closed! Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. We will contact you once it has been reviewed. Lhasa Happy Homes will be now holding our adoption events the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month on Main Street in Santa Monica (check calendar link below for special events and directions). Our event is located at 2116 Main Street, in Santa Monica, CA. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household. Main Street is famous for its innovative shops and is close to the beach! Make a day of it!! Metered parking on the street and free parking on 4th and Bicknell Streets. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET LESTER….aka as “Dexter the arrester” because he will grab your heart and not let go! Weighing in at 18 lbs, this 3 yr old, tri colored, Shih Tzu has not had an easy start at life. His dad passed away and he was left with a family who had medical issues and could not properly care for him. SO…. relatives in Dallas flew to SF, drove to his home in Sacramento, then down to L.A. to deliver him to us and flew back to Dallas. Now THAT’S love and we are lucky to have him! Lester is a wonderful pup who needs to feel safe in his surroundings — and it doesn’t take long! Loves to play, chase balls and even fetch! Loves to chase his foster bro and will meet him face to face to let him know who (he thinks) is in charge! Gets the zoomies and will entertain you — which should help him lose a little weight, which he could use! Even still, he’s pretty fast and does cute little bunny hops with his short legs! Lester loves to be near you, demands attention and will make little gremlin noises to get it! You can expect him to sit at your feet, sleep on your lap and be close to you in bed. He loves to be cuddled, even if he isn’t sure at first, but is happy whenever you love him. Lester will replace any alarm system you may have and will bark to alert. He will stand between you and the noise to let you know he’s your protector. He does have some resource guarding tendencies with food/toys — who likes anyone’s hands in their food!? We believe these will resolve themselves with trust and patience. Remind him who the boss is, just like a kid he doesn’t like “no” but he learns! Ideal home will be with or without another dog, family who works remote and can give him a lot of attention. We were told he is potty trained, but we never guarantee! Loves his walks and wants to please. Only been with us a short time and he’s getting more confident everyday! If you are looking for a best friend, look no farther! Our website is updated daily. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION INTRODUCING DOLBY….and another tragic story to report 🙁 At 12 lbs, 4 yrs old and tri colored, this very special Shih Tzu boy was given to a good Samaritan who took him because she wanted to keep him out of the shelter when his humans were moving. She was told he had a hernia…but in fact it was a testicular tumor. He had never been neutered and the tumor grew to be the size of a baseball before she handed him over to us — never disclosing this information. We got him to our vet and were very worried initially — how such a sweet, easygoing, loving dog could end up this way. GOOD NEWS while the tumor was malignant, it was the type that the oncologist says doesn’t metastasize, so the cancer was gone! We have done a needle biopsy to clear the lymph nodes and everything was negative — which for us was very positive! Dolby’s foster reports that he is one of the easiest going pups he has ever experienced and is a joy to be around. He was playing voraciously with his foster buddy despite the fact that he had an abdomen full of stitches from his surgery! They are still working on his potty training but report he is getting it! He is not hyper but loves to play…not super interested in toys at this point. Loves belly rubs as all dogs do…and is a super kissy lover! He is not yappy or barky but will say hello to the other dogs walking on the street! Not an aggressive bone in his body. Because of his fantastic nature, he could probably go into almost any home – but preferably one with another dog and a family who will cherish him. He is very people and dog oriented and whomever adopts him will be bringing in a wonderful family member. Does that sound like you? He will not be available until the beginning of November. Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria.
