Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET KAI! A 3-4 yr old, tan/white, 15 lb, adorable, but fearful, Shih Tzu, who came from the streets of San Bernardino with no history. We learned that the foster who found him crated him for 20 hours a day for a week, and by the time he came to us, he had developed more anxiety and fear. We found a trainer who helped get him through most of his issues. However, she was unable to finish his training, so he is still reactive to other dogs especially on walks. We are working on this individually and once he is okay, he basically ignores them. Kai is a smart dog who does his best with regular exercise and dedicated attention — and he needs a patient, experienced home that will give him time to acclimate. If he gets bored or is not stimulated he will revert to bad behavior. Insufficient physical activity can lead to heightened anxiety, so he needs an active home that will engage him. Kai gets super excited when you come home or it’s feeding time! He is a foodie and is very motivated by treats! Kai is OK interacting with calm dogs and is friendly with people and children after an introduction. Encounters with dogs on the street requires ongoing reinforcement, as he becomes overly excited and will dart toward them. However, once allowed to familiarize himself, sniff and settle, he doesn’t pay much attention to them. AOK with people on the street! He just needs parameters and he will be an outstanding citizen! While we don’t recommend crates, some dogs consider them a “safe cave,” especially if that is how they are trained. Initially, Kai had barking issues, which have definitely settled. He has specific commands (YES!!) that he readily responds to, which should always be a part of your relationship. That being said, he should be in a home where his person is around a lot and there are no other dogs (or a calm dog he likes). Kai’s favorite and never changing thing is to collect squeaky toys! He’s like a puppy at times, teething on your hands/fingers. BUT he can be very moody (at least with me!) His guarding issues with toys has dissipated (people and dogs) for the most part, but not with food. Take it slow and watch his body language. He’ll let you know. If you hear a growl, back off! An active home, POSSIBLY with another small, calm but playful pup and a firm yet gentle guidance, patience, and ample acclimation time has proven to be the ticket for Kai. While he is motivated by food and toys, his main drive is to please people. Could this be your next family member? He’s available now (to the right home!) PLEASE DON’T APPLY IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE EXPERIENCE. KAI IS A WONDERFUL DOG BUT HE NEEDS PARAMETERS AND DISCIPLINE! Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION THIS IS HAMISH…or as he is known to his friends, “Hammy" or "Boo!” This 4 yr old, 13 lb, cream/tan, Shih Tzu, is absolutely adorable! We especially like the pink around his eyes…gives him a lot of character. He came to us from the Lancaster Shelter with a bad case of kennel cough and quite skinny…he still needs to gain a few pounds, but he recovered and is a happy, silly boy! We don’t know his back story, but we are of the opinion he was loved and ended up in the shelter through no fault of his own. He is active and playful…chases after toys…gives lots of kisses to those he wants to impress (!!) and has a wonderful temperament. His coat is soft, soft, soft…and he doesn’t seem to have any issues that we can find! He does have good energy and should get out and be walked. He does the cutest little dance when it’s time to do his “business” so you always know! We believe the best home for him will have another playful dog and/or a family with kids and lots of attention. Hammy is great in the car and listens to what he is told! Not sure if he really obeys commands yet, but his temperament is gentle and happy. Does he sound like a pup you could love for the rest of his life? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET MISS CHLOE…a precious, petite, liver colored, 7.2 lb, 4-5 yr old who came from the SEAACA shelter. We were told that her nostrils were too narrow and she would need surgery…that she was a senior and they wouldn’t spay her because of her medical. Well, she isn’t a senior, she didn’t need surgery, we had her spayed and she is just and absolute doll. If you have any doubt about Chloe’s affinity for toys, the first picture should answer that question for you! She loves to go for walks, visit the world, curious about everything; she is very playful and seems to just love life! One of Chloe’s favorite things to do is ZOOM and ZOOOM some more all over the yard, so she should probably have one of her own to happily share with another happy, sweet, small dog! If you are looking for a sedate lap dog, Chloe would not be a fit! She needs “entertainment” and she will entertain you! We know that she would love to have someone take her with them everywhere, as she adores attention…give her belly rubs and love her to pieces…probably not the right fit for a mature home though as she is really too active 🙂 We never guarantee, but Chloe’s potty training, with a yard, seems pretty good, and she will use a pp pad in lieu of walk if needed. She really wants to please you…she is smart and funny and she will give you years of joy and happiness! Does she sound like a muppet you could love? Our website is updated daily. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET REMI…a petite, sweet, Liver colored, 4-5 yr old, 8.5 lb adorable baby…but we’re not quite sure what breed she is because of the haircut she got! We thought she was a Shih Tzu, but now leaning towards Brussels Griffon. Personallly, I think she is a shihtzu/maltese! No matter what she is, it’s pretty damn cute! Pic #4 is what she looked like in the shelter. Remi came to us from the Moreno Valley Shelter a matted mess, with foxtails wedged into her paws. The shelter groomed her and helped taking out the foxtails. Once she was shaved, you could see that this little imp had been bred and bred and bred! That being said, even though her teets are a little saggy…we don’t think she misses being a mom! She is really active, playful and a little flirt — in fact, we almost named her Flirty! She is a kissy monster, she has found her voice and does not like being left behind and will let you know (but she does settle down), she is great on a walk (may do circles around you so be careful, don’t trip!) and will do her business outside or on a pp pad (we never guarantee at your house) and is a lover. This little Miss deserves all that life can offer her. Remi is very people oriented and loves to be cuddled and pet…she is also a little tomboy and wants to explore every inch of her surroundings. She is also very portable to go to take the kids to school, watch a sports event, or cuddle on the couch and binge watch TV. The ideal home for her would be one where she gets a lot of attention but she definitely isn’t a couch potato. She needs training to settle down! She is VERY smart and listens….and then goes back to being a hyper girl! Kids over 8 yrs old welcomed, another small dog welcomed, love mandatory! Do you have a place in your heart and your home for Remi? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria.
