Meet Coco — A Sweet Little Survivor Ready for Her Forever Lap Please read the bio in full for answers to common questions. Because all of our dogs live in foster homes, meet-and-greets are scheduled only after a completed application is received. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance of Landenberg, PA so our volunteers can conduct an in-person home visit. At 8 years old and just 8.5 pounds, Coco is a lovable Shih Tzu mix with a resilient spirit and a heart full of affection. This sweet girl came to us as an owner surrender in rough condition: severely matted and struggling with a painful ruptured eye. Thanks to the care she received, her left eye has been removed, her dental work is complete, and she’s feeling better than ever. Now she’s ready to start her next chapter in a loving forever home. Coco is a cuddly little companion who absolutely adores people and happily settles into your lap whenever given the chance. She’s medium-energy, enjoys playing with toys, and walks nicely on a leash. She’s friendly with dogs and kids and would do well in either a single-dog or multi-dog household. She is nearly housebroken and continues to make great progress; during very cold weather she may use pee pads. Coco sleeps comfortably in a pen in her foster’s room and is kennel trained. She eats both wet and dry food but definitely prefers the softer options. Because of her previous eye issues, Coco receives twice-daily eye drops (cyclosporine and lubricant) to keep her remaining eye healthy. She doesn’t bark much, handles being picked up well, and can manage stairs without difficulty. A fenced yard is not required. She’d be perfectly happy in a home where she can soak up love, chase a toy, and curl up beside her person. Coco’s ideal home is simply one filled with kindness, patience, and plenty of lap time. After everything she’s been through, this sweet girl is ready to give her whole heart to a family who will cherish her forever.

Crimson is being fostered in VA. Crimson is blind and has kidney disease. Crimson is a friendly little guy who loves belly rubs! If you would like to know more about this special pup, read on! Crimson is from Florida. His family could no longer care for him and so they turned him over to the Blind Dog Rescue Alliance. He traveled to his Virginia BDRA foster home in January 2026 and made friends all along the way. Crimson has settled into his foster home quite well! There are four other blind dogs in the home and Crimson gets along just fine with each of them. He is happy to share a bed and doesn’t mind if a dog bumps into him. He ignores the family cat. At night, he settles easily into his bed and sleeps through the night. He is housetrained – not a single accident yet! He has a deep bark and, when he first arrived, he barked fairly often but now that he is learning the routine, he barks only occasionally (usually when anticipating a meal!). As mentioned, he loves belly rubs and he enjoys head rubs too. He also likes toys. Crimson is blind, diagnosed with SARDS several years ago. SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) is a condition that causes rapid and irreversible blindness due to changes within the retina. In addition, he arrived at his foster home with ear infections that are in the process of being treated. He hears well though and he doesn’t let his blindness bother him at all. His eyes are currently healthy although he does have some clear discharge at times. Crimson also has been diagnosed with kidney disease/kidney failure along with high blood pressure. He is on a prescription kidney diet (Purina) and also on Benazepril twice a day. We don’t know all the details about Crimson’s medical history before he arrived at his foster home and – as is true with any rescue dog – we can’t predict what the future holds for his health. Anyone interested in adopting Crimson should first speak with their vet about canine kidney disease so there is an understanding of this disease, its progression, and how it is treated. Crimson has not spent time with children and, although he is such a nice dog, he should be adopted into a home with older children or adults only. And he should always be supervised when he is with young children, as all dogs should be. If you think you can provide this sweet, gentle dog the wonderful forever home he deserves, complete an application today! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
