Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bambi is an adorable young Shih Tzu.  At only 1-1/2 years old, she has been a momma two times over.  Her babies have all been adopted and now it's her turn to enjoy life as a pampered pooch.  Bambi needs a gentle touch and patient adopter who will let her progress at her own pace.  She needs some time to warm up to new people and tends to be a bit barky until she is comfortable.  She also barks an alert at newcomers to the home, so probably isn't apartment appropriate.  She seems to do well on a leash and enjoys her walks.  She appears to be house trained, but will need reinforcing of good potty habits.  Bambi was introduced to 4 other small dogs and did well with them, spending much of the time playing with them.  But Bambi is very frightened of big dogs, so please don't apply to adopt her if you have dogs over 20 pounds.  Bambi is visiting the veterinarian for a physical and needed vaccines.  She will be scheduled for spay surgery as soon as possible.  Bambi will also need regular, ongoing grooming which is an additional cost that should be considered in her overall care.     Happy Days Dog & Cat Rescue requires a Spay/Neuter Contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization at the time of adoption. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. HDDCR holds a deposit [$50 for dogs, $25 for cats] in addition to the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog or cat was spayed/neutered by the date stipulated on the Spay/Neuter Contract. The deposit will be refunded to the adopter if spay/neuter was done according to the Spay/Neuter Contract signed by the adopter. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee, paid at the time of adoption.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
Hello, My 1 year old/6 months Shihtzu/Havanese is great. He knows basic commands like sit and he’ll come when you call. He received his rabbies vaccine(3 years), DA2P-CPV Adult YE, and heartworm test (Negative) on 12/12/2025. I have the certification. He is very healthy and he will come when you call. He’s very playful but never been around other dogs or pets. He’s had a few accidents in the house in the past couple months, but I haven’t been able to spend much time with him. I have a very busy schedule, which is why I am looking to rehome him. He is a family pet and has only been around family. Let me know if you’re interested. Thanks!

Story
Meet Dracula — the perfectly pint-sized mix of sweet and spicy, looking for someone who gets him. Don’t be fooled by the name — he’s not out for blood, just love. Once he feels safe, this quirky little guy will melt right into you, showing his softer, snuggly side. Dracula is housebroken, well-mannered, and happiest as the star of the show — no other pets, please. He does best in a calm, low-traffic home without children, where he can build trust at his own pace. He may be cautious at first and a little nippy when nervous, but with patience and kindness, he transforms into the most loyal little shadow you’ll ever have. About Dracula: -Potty trained and well-behaved at home -Prefers to be the only dog -Needs a calm, child-free home -Shy at first but deeply affectionate once he bonds -Loves belly rubs, ear scratches, and cozy snuggles Dracula’s a tiny dog with a huge heart — he just needs someone patient enough to help him shine. Once he chooses you, he’s yours for life. Adoption is $350, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
Benny is ready to find his forever home! He was born around June 2025, he is a shih tzu who loves playing with his foster dog sisters, car trips, walks, and treats! He is the best sleeping partner and sleeps all night long without a peep. He is doing pretty well with potty training, but still has accidents here and there because he really does not like to go outside when it is cold and dark, but who can blame him!?! Benny will require a home within 30 minutes of Toledo, where someone can spend a great deal of time with him and who has the patience to go outside to ensure he goes potty. He likes to explore, so a fenced yard where he can run around and get his zoomies out is a must. A vet check and home visit will be required to ensure Benny finds the best ‘best friend’ he deserves. Due to high volume, inquiries made on petfinder and adoptapet will not be answered. Please complete an application on our website https://toledospetbullproject.com/adoption/

Story
Buttercup and her sister and brother, Bubbles and Brodie were surrendered to a kill shelter because their owners just had too many and couldn’t find homes on their own. Their mom is a long-haired Chihuahua and their daddy is a Shih Tzu and they were born on February 2nd this year so they are 8 months old. Buttercup has been spayed, is up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm negative. She’s also microchipped. She weighs just under 7 pounds and is probably full grown now. Buttercup is great at the Vet and The Groomer and loves riding in the car. She needs a little practice on the leash and she’s making great progress on house training. Buttercup is a little bossy but plays great with her brother and sister. we feel like she would be fine with other dogs after getting to know them but would always want to be the boss. She would be fine with older children, and we are not sure about cats but the bossy part would be the same at first. If you would like to give this super affectionate love bug her forever home, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or dogs4mylife@gmail.com. If you do not see a response, please check your spam folder.
