Story

Meet Flip!! Flippy is 2 years old and 17lbs. He’s a Shih Tzu who’s had a fresh groom and he’s ready to be adored. Flip is just fine with dogs and would also be just fine without. He’s great with people (and actually loves men). His prior owner was unable to care for him and made the tough decision to surrender. He’s been loved and wants loves! Flip has always had a yard and requires a fence. He has a difficult time with a leash at the moment (it’s a work in progress!). While he works on his comfort with the leash, he would benefit from a fence yard. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter. Story

Meet Polly... and whatever you do, don't tell her she's a little fluffy for her size or that she's considered a senior citizen. She's firmly convinced she's in the prime of her life, and honestly, we're not about to argue with her. Polly prefers to think of herself as "extra cuddly" and "experienced." She still enjoys the important things in life: good snacks, cozy naps, leisurely strolls, and soaking up all the love and attention she can get.

Story

Meet Petunia 🌸 Petunia is a sweet 6-year-old, 14 pound, Shih Tzu who is discovering what it means to feel safe and loved after life in a puppy mill. She is still learning to trust people and explore her new surroundings, so she needs a patient, gentle family willing to give her the time and space she needs to blossom. One of Petunia’s favorite things is being outside. She loves lying in the grass, soaking up the sunshine, and walking around the yard with her doggie pack. ☀️🐾 She enjoys being near the other dogs in her foster home, although she is still learning how to simply be a dog. Toys are new to her, and she hasn’t quite figured out what all the excitement is about *yet*, but she’s learning! Cats? She pretty much ignores them. Petunia isn’t looking for someone to rush her. She’s looking for someone who will celebrate the little victories—the first time she approaches for affection, the first time she realizes a toy can be fun, and the moment she finally understands that she is safe and her puppy mill days are behind her forever. With patience, kindness, and lots of sunny afternoons in the grass, Petunia is ready to discover the life she has always deserved—a life filled with safety, companionship, and love. 🌸❤️ Petunia is being fostered in Northern Kentucky. Her adoption fee is $450.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Mustard PF

Shih Tzu

Cincinnati, OH

Details

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,

Story

Mustard is a sweet older gentleman who believes life is best enjoyed at a slower pace. This calm little guy is pretty much a professional couch potato—give him a comfy spot to curl up and he’s perfectly content! Mustard is visually impaired and needs daily eye drops for dry eye, but he gets around and enjoys life just fine. He does best with a calm routine and gentle handling, as fast movements can make him nervous. He is good with other dogs, especially when they respect his slower pace and personal space. Mustard is pee-pad trained and will also potty outside when taken out on a leash. He hasn’t quite learned how to let you know when he needs to go outside yet, so his new family will need to keep him on a consistent routine. Mustard isn’t looking for a busy, action-packed life. He’s looking for a soft couch, a peaceful home, and someone who will love and spoil him through his golden years. Local adoption fee is $300(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Comet

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered,

Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Comet. A Good Samaritan stepped in after realizing that a large group of adult dogs and puppies living in a home, who had too many dogs, had become seriously ill with parvovirus. The homeowners agreed to surrender the dogs to us so they could finally receive the care they desperately needed. Comet arrived with his sister, at only 10 weeks old, and both puppies were extremely sick. They were immediately taken to our vet for treatment, but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, Comet’s sister passed away the following morning. Somehow, sweet little Comet fought his way through parvo and is now healthy, happy, and ready to find the loving home he has always deserved. Comet is a Shih Tzu/Maltese mix who is nothing but LOVE. He has all the typical puppy energy and playfulness you would expect from a young pup, but underneath all that puppy fun is a sweet little guy who has already been through far more than any puppy should. Because of Comet’s breed mix, his new family will need to be committed to consistent grooming and regular brushing to keep his coat healthy, comfortable, and mat-free. This is an important part of caring for a Shih Tzu/Maltese mix and should be considered before applying. He is also hypoallergenic (don't shed). Comet is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and current on heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. His adoption fee is $500. Apply at www.adoggie4you.org Comet is currently in Texas, but he can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington, KY, or locations along the East Coast. Transport is an additional $250. Please note: We do not transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to their regulations.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 1, 2026, 10:24 am
