1 year old Snowy has been practicing being brave -- could she keep practicing at your house? She has been adjusting to the joys of living in a loving home after surviving outdoors on her own. Her favorite things include sleeping in the window sill, playing with her feather wand, and giving and receiving loving affection, on her somewhat conservative terms. (And who doesn't want things on their own terms?) Snowy has made great strides with her foster and has slowly but surely revealed a heart of gold. She enjoys being around familiar people and will come closer and look at you patiently when it’s time for pets -- or perhaps even flop down for the delight of being brushed. When her foster moves around their apartment, Snowy likes to situate herself and watch at a distance. Changes in her environment, like new visitors, are a little scary for Snowy, leading to her running and hiding. After things return to normal, she happily trots out to say hello to her foster. This intelligent Siamese–Russian Blue thrives in a calm, loving home and forms deep, meaningful bonds with his people. Fortune came to Four Paws from a partner shelter in Southern Virginia after his owner sadly passed away. He had been living in a quiet home, and that background really shows, he feels most comfortable in a peaceful environment with a predictable routine. He’s more of a “be near you” cat than a “be on you” cat. Fortune loves curling up nearby, keeping you company while you go about your day. When he wants attention, he’ll let you know with a soft, sweet meow. He’s incredibly smart (he’ll even come running when you call him!) and has a quiet, loyal presence that makes him easy to love. Fortune can be timid and a bit jumpy at first, especially in new environments. But with patience and a calm approach, he truly settles in and lets his affectionate, gentle personality shine. He has done well bonding with teens and will build a strong connection with a family who understands that trust takes a little time. Because of his sensitive nature, Fortune should be the only cat, as he can be territorial and feels most secure when he doesn’t have to share his space. Fortune does have some anxiety and is currently on medication to help him feel his best. He also has asthma, which is well-managed with daily medication. He takes both easily and does very well with a consistent routine. Pretty Kitty is a sweet former alley cat who chose indoor life on her own terms. I fed her daily starting in 2015, and in 2020 she walked into my home and decided to stay. She’s been an indoor cat ever since. She’s about as low-maintenance as a cat gets. She’s happiest in one small, quiet space with her bed, food, water, and litter box close by, and she doesn’t roam the house. When we moved, she settled into the a small area in the kitchen and made it her territory. She’s litter-trained and keeps to a simple routine. She’s vocal when she says hello and enjoys a friendly greeting, but she doesn’t demand constant attention. She’d be a great fit for a calm home that wants an easygoing, occasional companion, ideally someone who can give her a cozy corner of her own.
