Meet Quinn! He is a 3yr old male Poodle/Sheepdog mix that weighs 37lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/21. Due to his physical condition, he will be Rescue only. Quinn is a very sweet and gentle boy that has not had the best life. He has many levels of matting all over his body and will most likely need to be taken to the vet for a medical groom. Despite what he has been through he gave me a smile, a sparkle in his beautiful brown eyes, and a wag of his tail. All of the noise in the shelter does make him nervous, yet once we were outside his personality started to come out. He walks well on a leash, takes treats gently and went to the bathroom as soon as we were outside. He enjoyed running about in the play yard and would follow me around for pets. I would brush his hair out of his eyes, and he just looked up with such appreciation. From the moment I met him, he captured my heart and its very clear he has a heart of gold and would make a fantastic family companion. He just needs help out of the shelter by one of our wonderful rescues, so he can find his own loving home. Dakota is a beautiful 1.8-year-old Pyredoodle** who was rescued from an unsafe situation and is now looking for a committed forever family. She’s about 60 lbs, spayed, vaccinated**, and still very much a playful young dog. Dakota is currently doing great with both small and large dogs and especially loves playing with her larger foster sibling. She enjoys two 30-minute walks a day and sleeps comfortably in her kennel at night. A previous adopter reported that Dakota jumped a 6-foot fence and had some issues with other dogs, but we have not seen those behaviors in her current foster home. She has also previously been reported as not good with cats, although her most recent adopter said she peacefully coexisted with one. It depends I guess. Dakota needs a family willing to provide exercise, consistency, patience, and continued training. She’s young, loving, and deserves someone committed to helping her become the wonderful dog we know she can be. I’m looking to rehome my 3 year old dog to someone patient and understanding. She can be very nervous and fearful around people she doesn’t know. When meeting someone new, she will usually bark and may growl because she is unsure of them. It normally takes her a few visits/interactions before she becomes comfortable enough to let someone pet or touch her. She is also very alert and protective of the home. She barks a lot. Because of her personality, she would do best with someone who is patient, willing to give her time to warm up, and understands that she should not be rushed when meeting new people. Once she becomes familiar and comfortable with someone, she is much more accepting.
