Story
Tucker is a very loving boy. He is a little anxious and takes some time to warm up to new people. Since my toddler has been interested in playing he has been hiding more than he is out. He really deserves a loving home with no young kids. I do believe he is fine around dogs and other cats. He really is the best boy that's why this is so hard.

Story
Meet Mr Brody! He was living outside of an apartment complex and was definitely someone's pet but apparently was thrown out or abandoned. He is a very handsome boy and very sweet but would be best as an only child. He has been neutered, vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies, flea and worm treated and is negative for feline leukemia and AIDS. Story
Wilson is a very sweet, gentle boy who was abandoned by his owners when they moved out :( Poor boy was found cowering behind a building across the street from our fosters, sneaking over to try to get some food they put out for some strays in the area. They saw how scared and hungry he was and befriended him to come closer so they could bring him inside. He is now inside, safe and warm and very happy and has been neutered, vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies, flea and worm treated and is negative for feline leukemia and FIV. He is very playful and is fine with other cats and ok with their dogs (still not sure yet). Story
Happy Girl was living on the streets at an apartment complex when her so called owners put her out to defend for herself. Scared and hungry, she started to come and get food we were putting out for some feral cats we feed there. We knew she was not feral and thought someone was just letting their cat out, but we found out she was abandoned, so we took her in. We got her spayed, vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies, flea and worm treated and tested for feline leukemia and FIV (aids) which were both negative. We call her Happy Girl because she is SO HAPPY to be inside again safe and sound! She is super sweet and lovable and seems to get along find with other cats. Dogs? If you are interested in Happy Girl or any of our castaway cats, please fill out our application at castawaycatsde.com. Thank you!

Story
Charlie and his mom, along with another litter his mom just had, were living outside of someone's townhouse. Apparently the people who lived there before her just left mom when they moved and of course she was not spayed and had 2 litters :( The landlord did not want them there, so he told her she needed to get rid of them. She called us and also ran an ad in the newspaper and unfortunately people came and took the newborn kittens before they were weaned (all but one which we have ) Since mom had a new litter, she did not want anything to do with poor Charlie so she chased him away. He is a very sweet but shy, neutered male who been vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies, flea and worm treated and is negative for feline leukemia and FIV. He would be good in a quiet household with another kitten or cat and is friends with our other cat Wren.

Story
Hadley and a bunch of other cats were living in a drug house and when the owner died, the landlord was going to throw all of the cats outside in the cold. We got a call and were able to get them before he did this. They have now all been spayed or neutered, vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies, flea and worm treated and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV. Now they are all ready for adoption and very sweet and loving! If you are interested in any of our castaway cats, please fill out our application at castawaycatsde.com

Story
.Ladybug aka Rosie came to our back porch pregnant, scared, and starving. She was desperately searching for any bit of food and came back every night to see if the other neighborhood cats left scraps on their plates. After a week of barely approaching us, Rosie was hungry enough to allow herself to be caught and brought inside again! We don’t know her full story but she was clearly someone’s abandoned pet because she is so incredibly sweet and loving. Rosie would be happy if every day she got to follow you around and get kisses any spare moment you had. She’s playful, curious, and earned the nickname “Nosey Rosie” because she just can’t stop seeing what you’re up to! She has learned to be brave and no longer hides when nervous. Now she prefers to sit right next to you, just in case you may need saving or a cuddle. She’ll be your absolute best friend if you adopt her! A friend with clear communication skills, by the way. Rosie is very clear that she loves face, shoulder, and head scratches (and kisses) but she is not a fan of butt pets. She’ll also chirp and roll around on the floor in the mornings to let you know she missed you while you were sleeping. Rosie is FIV positive, which is NOT a death sentence, the only way it could be spread and ONLY to cats is by deep bite wounds and she has proven that she can live peacefully in a house full of cats with no issues. She is being fostered in a home with four adult cats (3 girls & 1 boy) and she gets along with all of them, peacefully, with no incidents. She would do well in a house with other animals of any kind but might struggle in a house with young kids. She needs to live with someone who can understand her cues for no more pets and who will be ok with her always being right at your feet for attention. Is that your house? Are you looking for someone to cuddle up with you full of love and purring? If interested in Ladybug (Rosie) or any of our castaway cats please fill out an application at castawaycatsde.com

Story
ABOUT CHRISTMAS CHILI AND MISS KRAMPUS! Meet Christmas Chili and Miss Krampus, our pretty mamas! These two came to HAP at separate times, both strays with kittens in tow and both upset at being caged. After a few months of medication and socialization and not much progress, we decided to put the two ladies in a room together, as a last ditch effort. They immediately took to each other and have been inseperatable ever since! Now with each others support and comfort, they two have started to enjoy human attention a little more! Christmas Chili is the more outgoing of the two, she enjoys chirping and booping her human friends, once she gets used to them! Miss Krampus is more on the shy side, though she does enjoy playing with her human friends, as long as they keep their distance! *Christmas Chili and Miss Krampus both adore other cats! We don't recommend they go to a home with dogs or children.

Story
ABOUT MISSY! Meet Missy, our big and beautiful lady! This sassy girl came to HAP as a stray, so we don't know much about her past, aside from the fact that she had clearly been eating well! Because this new change of scenery was such a big change, she had a rough time settling in. Some days she still seems to have some serious complaints! Missy is a strong, independent woman, through and through! She knows what she wants and knows how to get it, usually by yelling at us. She can be a little swatty at times, usually just when we're shooing her back in her cage. When we aren't trying to make her do something, she's a real sweetie! She enjoys hanging out with her human friends, sometimes at a distance, sometimes right on them! *Missy hates other cats, so we don't recommend she go to a home with any other cats. We also don't recommend she go to a home with children or dogs, as she can be a lot sometimes. *If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific cat but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! We may require all household members, including children, to come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, and a small bag of food to get you started.

ABOUT CALLIE! Meet Callie, our beautiful lady! This sweet lady was brought in as a stray, so we don't know much about her past. What we do know is that's a sweet lady! Callie can be shy at first, but once she warms up, she's a real lover girl! Callie enjoys the slow paced life; a nap in the sun, a yummy treat, a window to look out of. She isn't much of a player, but she enjoys her catnip! *Callie does not get along well with other cats, so she'll need to be the only one in the home. We don't recommend dogs or young children, as she can be nervous with noise and activity.
