Story
Meet Beau: The Jovial and Trainable Senior Weimaraner Beau is a sweet, 10-year-old Weimaraner with a friendly and jovial personality—especially when treats are involved! He’s highly social and forms strong bonds with other dogs, showing some anxiety when separated from his canine companion, Booray. Because of this, Beau would thrive in a home with another dog for company. While Beau is generally confident, he does get nervous during storms. A thunder coat and possibly trazodone may help him feel more secure during bad weather. He’s also showing great promise in training, responding well to leash pressure and beginning to learn the Heel command. Although he has some trouble sitting due to hip discomfort, he’s highly trainable and would benefit from full obedience training to boost his confidence and independence. Beau is still working on his potty training and may mark or urinate indoors, possibly as a reaction to another dog in the home. He needs a clear routine, crate training, and positive reinforcement for going outside. With consistent guidance and structure, Beau will quickly learn the rules and become a well-mannered companion. Overall, Beau is a loving, adaptable dog who will make a wonderful addition to any family willing to invest in his training and provide him with the companionship he craves. He’s ready to bring joy and loyalty to his forever home! ##2401230##

Story
Baxter Lee is an 11-year-old big boy weighing 71 pounds. Although he is a large boy, he is a gentle giant and is very careful around others not bumping into them or getting in the way. He is very strong but is perfect on a leash and walks as slowly or as fast as you go. He is an independent guy, unlike other Weims, and pretty much stays to himself but will come and check on you from time to time. He loves the sun and spends a lot of time outdoors sunning on the deck. He is quite fascinated by anything floating in the pool or flying overhead and often will snatch the pool thermometer from the pool and then tease me with it! He loves to play chase with whatever favorite thing he decides to bring from another room to show you whether it is your slippers, a pillow off the bed, or something else he knows he is not supposed to have. The only way to retrieve the item is to offer a treat! And then you must grab the item before giving the treat or you will have to start all over again. He does have a loud bark and feels that he must use it whenever seeing anyone outside that doesn’t look familiar. He has been very good with guests, even small children, as he doesn’t try to push them over. I have a bird in a cage that he smelled once and has ignored ever since. Not sure if cats are an issue but he is a lover of chasing squirrels and birds in the back yard. He is good with multiple dogs (the foster has 2) but may be fine with being the only dog as well. He has a very chilled laid-back personality but can be quite stubborn. When he doesn’t want to do what you want him to do, he does not listen and conveniently forgets his name. He is a “nooker” and has claimed one of the blankets as his “nooking” blanket. He often falls asleep after a meal while nooking as we all settle on the couch watching TV. He does like to sleep on the furniture even though there are multiple beds around the house. He chooses a chair, and then when we are all together, he sleeps next to me on the sofa. At bedtime he either sleeps in bed with the rest of us or finds his way into one of the overstuffed chairs. Baxter Lee would be a great dog for someone that needs a laid back, sweet guy and would be fine as an only dog or with another dog. He will need regular exercise as I do believe he gets a little bored lying around all day. Currently he has some issues with his hips and will need some physical therapy to help him keep moving. He has no mobility issues at present and can jump in the car and on the bed without a problem. He  is being fostered in the DFW area if a senior boy is who you are looking for. ##2354754##

Story
Meet JuneBug (formerly Kimber), a charming 5-year-old, 55-pound, Weimaraner with a heart full of love and a personality that's sure to steal yours. This lovely lady is the epitome of a velcro dog, always eager to lie at your feet and keep you company as you work from home.  She does have mild hip dysplasia, and she has a unique little hop when she walks or runs. She is crate-trained (although some separation anxiety) and walks wonderfully on a leash. She enjoys doing check-ins with you during walks, adding a touch of sweetness to your daily strolls. Initially JuneBug was a bit skittish around men, but has blossomed into a calm and sweet companion who adores her people. She has grown to love her walks and gets excited when it's time to go out, making every outing a joyful experience.  JuneBug is great with other dogs and kids, making her a fantastic addition to a family. While we are unsure of cats, her gentle nature suggests she could adapt with time and patience.  If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate friend who will always be by your side, JuneBug is the perfect match for you. She is being fostered in the DFW metroplex if you are interested. ##1972759##

Story
Hi, I’m Lazuli! I’m a 1-year-old pup full of energy, curiosity, and love for life! I wake up each day ready for new adventures, whether that means exploring new smells, meeting new people, or just seeing what the day has in store. I’m super friendly — seriously, I think everyone I meet is a potential new best friend. I’ve got a happy-go-lucky personality and I’m always eager to be part of the action. Whether you’re going for a walk or just hanging out, I’m right there with you, soaking it all in. I’m still young, so I’m learning and growing every day. I will do best with anyone who enjoys having fun and making lots of memories. Let’s make life more fun — together!Borrow a Buddy Notes: Lazuli (or “Lazuli Puppy” as we called her) is every bit as precious as she looks! This 1–1.5-year-old Weimaraner mix was an absolute joy to have with us for the weekend. She rode great in the car—though she wasn’t too thrilled that our resident pup always got the coveted shotgun seat . She’s an awesome travel buddy overall! We went on plenty of walks, and she did really well on leash. She pulls a bit here and there, but just a few “crazy-walk” sessions will help polish that up. For the most part, she walked beautifully—unless we passed one of those blow-up holiday lawn decorations… those are clearly the worst in her book .Lazuli takes treats gently, greets people and dogs with appropriate enthusiasm (minimal jumping, no chaos!), and has the perfect energy balance—she’s playful and active, but not over the top. A quick 20-minute play session of tug or fetch in the morning and evening was enough to keep her calm and content throughout the day.She and our own pup (similar in age, size, and energy level) had a blast playing together, and when she wasn’t romping around, she loved curling up for cuddles. She’s still a puppy, so she can be a little mouthy now and then, but she redirects super easily to a toy or chew.During her stay, she had zero accidents, zero destroyed shoes, and only chewed on dog-approved items. She’s very food-motivated, which makes her a great candidate for future training. We worked on “off” and “sit,” and she was already picking them up!All in all, Lazuli is a sweet, smart, and loving girl who will make an amazing companion for a family looking to add a precious fur-baby to their life. Come meet me from 12 PM to 6 PM, open every day.No application or appointment required - walk-i

Story
The folks with Weimaraner Rescue are trying to find me a new home but I haven’t had anyone interested in me for months! I know I’m a good boy so, let me tell you, my story. I’m originally from El Paso, around 7 years old and super buff at 113 pounds. Some would say I could lose a few lbs, but I think I’m good. When rescue heard I needed help, the guy that picked me up fell in love instantly - I do have that effect on people! Suddenly I had two people showering me with affection and a doggie friend to play with; even though the place was small it was cozy and full of love. Over the next couple years two more large dogs joined the family. A trainer came but my owner didn’t do any of the suggestions to keep us dogs safe. Things got real one day with my older brother when they left us home alone. No one knows who started it, but I took the blame and now I’m back in rescue. I returned to Houston and completed a 6-week course with a dog trainer. I will wait at the door to allow you to walk through first, walk by your side, sit, and remain in place on command. I know my manners and the more time you spend with me, the better I’ll do. I meet other dogs where I’m staying, and I’m cool with them but based on my inconsistent behavior around other dogs in a home, I really need to be your one and only bestie. I’m not a fan of squirrels so probably cats won’t work for me either. I do have a great disposition – I’m a balanced mix of energy, chill, and always happy. The people that take care of me love me and tell me what a wonderful dog I am. I am a bit of a Velcro boy – well a lot of one really! A good cuddle on the couch is a perfect day. I also love getting out to go for walks when I have people visit me. I am house trained and lived perfectly in a home without being crated. I have a clean bill of health and I’m up to date on everything medical. DNA is all the rage now, so I got mine done too. I’m 49% Weimaraner, 29% American Pitbull Terrier, 17% American Staffordshire Terrier and the remaining 5% Boxer and Chow. Yep, I’m a Weim Pit mix which basically stands for ONE AWESOME DOG. I’ve been at the boarding facility for months where I’m safe, warm, and fed, but I’m lonely here in my kennel. What I really want is my own family to love, to snuggle on the sofa, go for walks and get yummy treats. I promise to be a good boy as long as you keep me safe. If you aren’t the one, that is ok but please share my story as I’m ready to go home with a loving family. Tater is being cared for by Weimaraner Rescue of Texas. We are working with The Love Pit to give Tater better visibility to families looking for that one special pup. www.WeimRescueTexas.org Tater is participating in The Love Pit's iRehome program. All iRehome dogs are being rehomed by their current owner. All iRehome behavioral and medical information is provided by the dog's current owner. TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with the current owner prior to completing the adoption process.
