Story
Meet Jack Jack Jack Jack is a 19-month-old Jack Russell Terrier/Yorkie mix looking for a loving forever home filled with patience, affection, adventures, and lots of cuddles. This little guy has the softest all-black coat (with occasional grooming trims to keep him looking handsome!) and a HUGE personality packed into a tiny body. He is playful, energetic, and absolutely loves his toys and trips to the dog park where he can run out all his zoomies. He’s best friends with two of my older dogs (6) & (9) and gets along great with them, he also likes to play with my cat he’s an older grumpy cat (9) even when the cat isn’t interested in his playful energy somehow they still end up playing. One of his favorite things to play with me is hide and seek & he plays tug of war with one of my older dogs, it’s great. Jack Jack is the definition of a cuddle bug. His favorite place to be is in your arms, snuggling his head into your chest or arm while soaking up gentle head scratches until he falls asleep. And when he’s extra happy, his little tongue sticks out in front of his tiny teeth — it’s impossible not to laugh and smile when he does it. He is a very smart dog with so much potential, but due to my busy work schedule when he was younger, he still needs some work on basic commands and training. He would thrive in a home that has the time, patience, and consistency to continue helping him grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. One important thing to know about Jack Jack is that he is sensitive to loud yelling and harsh environments. Loud noises can make him nervous or scared, so he truly needs a calm, kind, gentle home where he feels safe, protected, and deeply loved. This decision is not easy because he is such a special little soul. Making this decision has been incredibly hard for me because Jack Jack is deeply loved and such a special part of my life. Unfortunately, due to changes in my schedule and responsibilities, I’m no longer able to give him the time, attention, training, and active lifestyle he truly deserves. Jack Jack is still young, energetic, and full of love, and I know he would thrive in a home where someone can dedicate more time to his adventures, playtime, affection, and continued training. I don’t want him to simply “get by” — I want him to have the happiest life possible. If you think you could be the perfect forever home for Jack Jack, please fill out an application.  Even though Jack Jack is not a Spotty Dog, we are trying to help his owner find the right fit for him ##2741339##

Story
Meet "Rocco". Rocco is a purebred Yorkie. His fur is light brown silver. He is about 7 years old. We apologize that we do not have a picture of Rocco but we will have a picture very soon. Rocco comes to us because his owner is expecting a baby soon and won't be able to take care of Rocco. So poor Rocco has to leave. Poor poor Rocco. Rocco would be the perfect dog for a retired couple or a single person. We are looking for someone who is not working too many hours a day so Rocco would not be home alone all day. Rocco is not a barker and he likes to ride in the car. You MUST own your own home. A fenced in yard would be great. ABSOLUTELY NO RENTERS. Children must be 6 years old or older. Rocco will get neutered, he will get updated with shots and he will be heartworm tested. To adopt from us, you MUST have a veterinarian reference in your own name. We will not place any animal without a veterinarian reference. We get a veterinarian reference from your veterinarian which is a history of medical care administered by your veterinarian to your present or previous pet or pets. Please do not contact us if you cannot abide by our adoption rules. The adoption fee for Rocco is $350.00. No credit cards. If you are interested in Rocco, please email us at feline55keeper@gmail.com. You can meet Rocco on Saturday at Petco located at 201 Union Street in Waterbury during our adoption hours from 12:00 to 2:30. PLEASE CONFIRM with us that you would like to meet Rocco on Saturday and we will be sure to bring him with us to Petco on Saturday. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE STRESS THAT IN ORDER TO ADOPT FROM US, YOU MUST HAVE A VETERINARIAN REFERENCE...NO EXCEPTIONS!

Story
Name: Pancake Nicknames: Fluffernutter. Little One. Princess. Pumpkin. Crazy Girl. Breed: Terrier mix Sex: Female Age: 4 years Weight: 12 lbs. Before OMD: Animal Control seized 37 dogs from a hoarding situation (dogs were kept in a barn in filthy conditions) and reached out for help. Pancake was one of the last dogs left at animal control from the case and, especially after seeing the videos of her trembling in her kennel, we knew we needed to help. Energy Level: Medium. Loves to walk around the house carrying her toys, and play in the yard... then nap... then repeat. Affection love: Low. She wants to be in your area, wants to sleep in your bed, and wants to have your attention, but she does not want your pets....at least at first. Apartment Friendly: Not so much. She has been known to bark when alone, so shared walls are not ideal. Tagline: "Don't scare me. I poop easily" ...really. Pancake's natural reaction to being scared (of a new person picking her up, at the vet, etc.) is to release her bowels... What we love most: She is a true character, and constantly keeps us laughing. Her innocent nature. Her chewbacca yodel noises. Her full-on butt wiggles when she's excited to see foster mom. When she drapes herself, all stretched out, across the bed or couch, half on/half off. What she loves most: Greenies. Sunbathing. Yard time. Her foster siblings. Running in circles around the kitchen island, toy stuffed in her mouth, when foster mom comes home. Stealing all the toys and depositing them throughout the yard (but mainly on top of the hill, unfortunately). Cat/dog beds. Doesn't love: Being on leash or attempting to go for walks (she will freeze, thrash around, and or pancake...hence how she got her name)...basically anywhere outside the comfort of her own house/yard and anyone who isn't her foster mom. Skills: Jumping over gates or playpen walls. Keeping a close eye on you from anywhere in the house (but please don't look back and make eye contact, she's trying to be sneaky). Playing dead when being picked up or having harness put on. Kids: Nope. They are loud, chaotic, and scary. Dogs: Yes! Pancakes will thrive with another dog in the home. Cats: Yes! Housetrained: Definitely not (understandable given her history). Rugs are not safe from this girl...and she has a cool little party trick where she shimmies her booty up to poop in unattended shoes at 2am. Crate trained: Does not like to be closed into the crate, but she's often gone into the open crate with the bed and blanket. Ideal home: Low-traffic home who isn't scared off by accidents and isn't offended by a dog who doesn't want their attention at first. Her forever family should be incredibly patient, not rushing her and understanding she wants to be left initially. Over time (weeks-months) she will warm up to her people and they will get to see her full body wiggles, her hilarious noises, her prancing but the immediate expectation should be that you essentially have a cat who isn’t litter box trained (but way cuter and funnier). Pancake is spayed, vaccined, heartworm negative and microchipped. She is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from our website.

***FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED*** Name: Nova Nickname: Nova Girl, Little Shadow Energy Level: Low to moderate Descriptors: Affectionate, loyal, cuddly, sweet, sensitive, resilient What we love most: Nova has come so far since being found as a stray, horribly matted and neglected. Despite everything she’s been through, she still has so much love to give and is happiest curled up in a lap or snuggled beside her favorite person. What she loves most: Being close to her people! Nova is a true lap dog who loves cuddling, soaking up attention, and spending quiet time with her favorite human. She also enjoyed grooming the cat she met in foster care. Working on: Nova is still building confidence in new situations and around unfamiliar people. She can be vocal when she’s unsure or hears something unexpected and may alert bark to let you know what’s going on. She’s also almost fully house trained and continues to make great progress. Dogs: Nova would do best as an only dog. She has shown resource guarding behaviors with other dogs and is happiest when she doesn’t have to share her people or belongings. Cats: Has done well with cats and even enjoyed grooming her feline friend. Kids: 13+ please. Nova is looking for a quieter, lower-traffic home where she can feel safe and secure. House Trained: Almost there! She continues to make progress with consistency and routine. Crate Trained: Unknown A Note from Nova: Nova’s past was clearly not an easy one. Found as a stray in terrible condition, she needed a complete makeover, including a shave-down, spay surgery, and dental care before she was ready to start her next chapter. What she wants now is simple: a patient person, a cozy lap, and a quiet home where she can finally feel safe. In return, she’ll be a devoted, affectionate companion who will love you with her whole heart. ❤️

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Cupcake, a sweet senior Yorkie with a heart as big as her name is adorable.  Born around March 18, 2018, and weighing just 9.7 pounds, this little lady has quite the story to tell. Cupcake was found wandering alone down a deserted country road, covered in painful mats and stickers, clearly having been through a tough time. Despite everything she endured, her gentle spirit never faded. After getting the care she desperately needed—including grooming and the removal of several rotten teeth—Cupcake has made an incredible comeback and is now thriving in her new chapter. Today, Cupcake is happy, healthy, and full of life. She loves going on walks, enjoys spending time with her doggy friends, and walks beautifully on a leash. She’s also fully potty trained, both on a potty pad and during walks, making her an easy and wonderful companion. Cupcake is ready to find her forever home where she can be cherished and spoiled like she deserves. Her adoption fee is $300, and you can apply to adopt her at www.adoggie4you.org . If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion with a resilient spirit, Cupcake might just be your perfect match This dog is currently in Texas; however, it can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington KY or all along the East Coast. If transported, there is an additional transport fee of $225. We do not transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to their regulations.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 5, 2026, 4:46 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Emmit! Emmit was sadly owner returned after his mama had some health issues. Both his mom and dad loved him so much, and said he was the best lap pet. After those first few days of getting him to trust, he was their best friend for life.  Emmit is a tiny 8.5-pound neutered male Yorkie with a big personality packed into a small body. Born on September 4, 2024, this little guy may look like a cuddly teddy bear—but he’s got a bit of a “grumpy old man” attitude that makes him all the more charming. When Emmit first meets new people, he likes to put on a tough act. He may grumble or growl at first, just to let everyone know he takes his personal space seriously. But don’t worry—his heart is easily won over with a few yummy treats or some delicious chicken. Once he realizes you’re a friend, his softer side comes out quickly. Emmit’s journey to rescue hasn’t been the easiest. He was picked up by animal control after being chased and harassed by adults. Understandably frightened, he would only approach children, who ultimately helped catch him safely. While at animal control, he was extremely scared and did snap out of fear, scratching an officer, which meant he had to spend time in quarantine. When we were asked to take him in, we gladly welcomed him—and he has not attempted to bite while in our care. Underneath his grumpy exterior is a little dog who really just wants to feel safe and loved. Emmit absolutely adores sitting in someone’s lap and soaking up attention once he trusts you. With patience, kindness, and a few tasty snacks, he becomes a loyal little companion. Emmit would do best with a family that understands he may need a little time to warm up and will give him the reassurance he deserves after his rough start. Adoption Fee: $500   Apply to adopt Emmit at: www.adoggie4you.org If you’re looking for a tiny companion with personality, charm, and a love for lap time, Emmit might just be your guy! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Marley & Earl – A Bond Worth Saving Marley and Earl were once beloved family dogs, living a happy life with an owner who adored them. Sadly, their owner developed serious health issues and passed away, leaving no one able to care for them. Through no fault of their own, these two grieving dogs ended up at a local animal control facility that was forced to euthanize for space. Their story broke hearts across the internet—and ours too. When a foster home opened up, we knew we had to help. Marley and Earl left the shelter together, and together is how they must stay. This bonded pair has already lost the person they loved most. We won't ask them to lose each other too. They are wonderful dogs who love people, get along well with other dogs, and are exceptionally well-trained. They simply want a soft place to land and a family to love again. Both Marley and Earl are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, 4DX negative, and current on ProHeart 12 and Bravecto. If you'd like to give this deserving duo the second chance they need, apply today at www.adoggie4you.org. Adoption fee to be adopted as a pair is $400. They are currently located in Texas but can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington, Kentucky, and locations along the East Coast for an additional $225 transport fee. Meet Pookie, an older adult (approx. 10 years old) male Maltese!  Pookie is too old to neuter and doesn't have many teeth but he is the sweetest boy! Pookie is currently in TN and is expected to arrive in CT on 6/13. We are accepting applications on him now!  Pookie is medically up to date, and is working on house and crate training. Apply to meet this special pup today! Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##2752501##
