Story
Meet Watson! He is a 5 year old yorkie mix who is in need of a new home! Watson came to us when his owner passed away. There were two other dogs in his previous home. He's a tiny guy who loves to sleep under the covers with humans, but is fine with a crate as well. He's not had a single potty accident in his foster home. He's a good little eater, enjoying small bite sized kibble with some cooked vegetables on the side - and treats are good too! Watson's favorite thing is going for a car ride and a walk. He mostly ignores the other two dogs in his foster home, so a home as the only dog would be just fine with him. He mostly hangs out on the foster family couch cuddle up on a blanket. He's not much of a barker and is super chill. Watson's furever family needs to be adults only (teenagers that will be respectful of him might be ok) and a quiet home. He needs a lap and a person to cuddle with and who will take him for car rides. He is fearful of larger dogs, but ignores dogs his size. He needs a patient parent who will understand that it takes him a bit to warm up to you as he is a bit hand shy. He gets nervous if hands come at him quickly or if you try to pick him up without his consent, he needs to trust you and might snap if afraid. Once he knows you are safe, he will adore you. He enjoys daily walks in his cute harness and leash and did we mention he likes car rides? His new family must live in the Atlanta area as a home visit is a part of the adoption application process for him (this is not the case with most of our dogs). If you have previous experience having a Yorkie, then you will understand this little guy! Watson's grooming needs: Watson will need professional grooming about every six weeks as his hair grows and does not shed. He needed a full shave when he came to us due to his mats! If you are interested in adopting Watson, please fill out an application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FAY-A-6005 **Applications can take anywhere from 5-7 business days to complete. When filling out an application, please check for a confirmation email to be sure that your application went through. We respond by email, so please check your spam and trash folders. If you need to reach us regarding your application, the best way to contact us is through email.** We are located in Fayette County, GA and are a foster based rescue without a shelter building.

Story
PLEASE READ This dog was bought roughly around the age of 4 from a local animal shelter with 0 previous owner history due to him being brought in as a stray, he was extremely unkept and seemed to have trauma from being stray. This dog must go to an experienced, energetic home, no seniors, no one without the finances to get him what he needs to have better quality of life. He is extremely reactive to anyone in sight, he is an escape artist, he barks a lot it’s never ending, it will be impossible for you to groom him yourself without him nipping at you, this is not my dog but I have spent the past 4 years trying to help out the owner by training him to ease the reactivity but it never sticks. Another thing to keep in mind is he is extremely territorial over food not aggressive, he eats extremely fast even with a slow feeder, he can eat a lot so to maintain his weight you have to know when to stop because he will beg beg beg. He loves kids, he is ok with dogs, great with cats!

Story
LOOKING FOR MY PERSON:  12 years old / 12 lbs.  Hi, my name is Bessie!  I lived with my family my entire life, but their living situation changed, and they are relocating to a home where pets are not allowed.  That makes me sad, but I am so grateful that Mostly Mutts will work to help me find a new home. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I did not like the dogs I met at Mostly Mutts, so no dogs please. I tolerated a dog in my former foster home, but don’t want to live with one. / My former family reported that I did not like cats. / I excitedly went after ankles of kids I met in a foster home and since I have bitten, best no kids.        • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a playful girl who likes toys and sometimes acts younger than my age.  I’m called a spry girl and had a blast playing with the  volunteer photographer!  I’m a sweet girl who accepts affection most of the time, though I have guarding behaviors when it comes to things like my bed, treats and people.  Once I find my person, I don’t really want to share them too much. This can be a trainable situation and my trainer will be happy to talk to you.  I can be a bit temperamental and will sometimes growl or nip for no apparent reason, even with my person. I did have a urinary tract infection, so that may have had a bit to do with it, but I’m just not sure.  My former owner did not report any bites. / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a member of the Mostly Mutts University training program. I have already learned the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also walk well on a leash.  My trainer is great with the little dogs with big personalities, so ask to talk to her when setting up a meeting with me.  My former family reported that I knew the word ‘no’, and the words ‘tee-tee and boo-boo’ for going potty.  Also, ‘good job’ for praising me. In my former foster home, I knew the words ‘outside’ for going out, and ‘up’, for going up stairs and that I could ‘sit’ when I choose to – lol. / My crate manners were good in my former home and are good at Mostly Mutts, and it’s best that I sleep in a crate at night instead of the bed with you, as that is a time that I bit my person. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, and my former family said that I was potty trained, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home too. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love going for walks, having my cheeks and the top of my head rubbed. Playing with toys is also fun and I enjoy hanging out with my person.  I do seem to prefer women to men. / I don’t like to be picked up, so let me come to you, please.  I’m also not a fan of having my tummy or rear end rubbed.  I don’t care for some men. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, training and attention. • MEDICAL:   I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have a congenital dropped carpus on both front legs and luxating patella on the left, but my foster didn’t even notice as I can jump and don’t have pain.  I also have a mild heart murmur that does not require any treatment currently. I’m on an inexpensive over the counter joint supplement which is good for all older dogs.   I am looking for a loving home for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  June 3, 2023, 9:55 am

Story
A SWEET FRIEND IN THE MAKING:  8 years old / 8 lbs. Hi, my name is Phantom!  I was adopted from animal control as a gift to my previous owner, but I was in my home only three weeks before my owner had to relocate for military duties.  I’m glad Mostly Mutts has taken me in to help me find a new home to love and be loved in.  I needed a good dental cleaning which I received thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization!  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I coexisted fine with the medium size dog in my temporary foster home, not wanting to play, but just follow him around.  I would be happy to be an only dog as I tend to choose my person and not want to share them. / I did well with the dog-friendly cat in my temp. foster home, just following her around, so if you have a dog-friendly or dog-tolerant cat at home, let’s meet. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, but – as stated above, since I choose my person, best there be no children in my new home.    • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a bit of a timid and skittish little guy who likes a quiet environment but also wants to be with people.  It was discovered in a foster home that I am a ‘resource guarder’ and my resource is my favorite person.  Unfortunately, I bit my foster dad, as I had ‘chosen’ my foster mom as my person and I was sitting in her lap at the time.  This is a trainable trait if you follow the rules like not letting me on the furniture or in laps.  The folks at Mostly Mutts will be glad to help you understand how to be successful with this.  The shelter volunteers are now working hard with me to train me to accept attention from various people to grow my trust in several people rather than choosing just one.  I have shown improvement in the last few days.  When I am comfortable, I am an active and sweet fellow.  I did snip at my foster mom a couple of times when she was petting me, so perhaps I should not be doted on a lot.  Sometimes less is better.   My general energy level is 2-4 right now, but it may increase a little as I get comfortable in my new home.  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I will be working on lots of doggie commands with my trainer including not to guard my trainer.  My temp. foster says I have nice leash manners. Check back soon to see my progress. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / I’ll need your help with reinforcing good potty habits, as I was having accidents in my foster home and at the shelter too, so please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like attention and being with my people, as well as lying right beside you in the perfect place.  I also enjoy going for walks, preferably in less busy areas.  I would also like a nice quiet environment to live in. / Right now I don’t like to share my person, and I am working on correcting this behavior. The noise at the shelter makes me nervous, so the volunteers usually take me out before or after the walking shifts when it is quieter.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I had a much-needed dental cleaning with 2 teeth pulled, so my mouth is feeling clean and fresh again.   I am looking for a calm, quiet home where my family will help me be successful and happy. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  June 3, 2023, 9:55 am
