We have a wide range of sizes, breeds, and personalities who have been waiting for a long time to find homes in which to live out their lives. All have been vet-checked, spayed/neutered and updated on shots. Some are in great health and hopefully will have many years to enjoy with their new owners... others are being treated for some medical issues and need some extra care to keep them happy and comfortable for whatever time they have left. We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Meet Reeses, as in Reese’s Pieces 🍬 When we first met her she was terrified and wanted to rip us to pieces, but give her a few days and she will love you to pieces instead! Nothing is more rewarding than earning the trust of these scared little ones whose instinct is to lash out when scared, and watching their entire personality change once they realize they can trust you. This under 2 year old scruffy yorkie/Shih tzu mix has plenty of reason to be so distrustful. Her owner never socialized her with other people and would go on vacations and leave her alone in her apartment for days at a time. One day she got evicted and just left this scared little girl behind. Luckily authorities found her before it was too late and healthwise she’s just fine. Her emotional trauma from being left alone so much and getting proper socialization as a puppy are much harder to overcome. Once she loves you, there is no better snuggler. If she could somehow melt into you or fuse herself to your lap like some kind of siamese twin she would do it in a heartbeat. Velcro dog isn’t a strong enough term, she’s more like a magnet 🧲 who will do whatever it takes to get to her person. No gate can hold her, she climbs out of any expen, leaps or squeezes through extra tall baby gates (we haven’t witnessed all of her magical escapes, just know she’s always somehow popping up places she’s not supposed to be 😆). Luckily she’s (grudgingly) cratable though not quietly and will need some practice being left alone- it takes her some time screaming out her protests but she does eventually settle and go to sleep. Unless you want to come home and find her walking around on top of your kitchen counter or refrigerator like a cat we definitely recommend sticking with the crate training. Reeses is looking for a patient adult home that will love this crazy little monkey 🙉 flying squirrel 🐿️ cat 🐈 hybrid, for better or worse, and have a sense of humor about her antics and adventurous spirit. Update: Ted is now toothless after his dental but feeling great and still eats dry food! This super friendly 10 year old 10lb Yorkie poo (we think?) has a great social personality, was housebroken in his previous home, and gets along with most other dogs. He shed his matted stained old bathmat look for a kinda deranged uneven lion cut that looked like he stuck his finger in an electric socket… that wasn’t getting him adopted so he’s starting over with a short summer do for now. You can try out whatever style you want when it grows back in, he won’t mind as long as it gets him extra attention and he’s in a forever home. He’s rocking the old bathmat half bald/half matted look after what we suspect is years of untreated flea allergies and neglect. He hasn’t been to a vet in years, his teeth are green and falling out, but otherwise seems to be in decent overall health once he gets some actual vet care and grooming. He’s a sweet 10 year old Yorkie-poo (our best guess), ok with other small dogs. His owner reported he was a bit shy with new people and afraid of/avoided children but he’s warmed up pretty quickly to us and been a sweet guy. Ted is about 10lbs full grown and after a long overdue dental only has one tooth left in his mouth. Meet the beautiful Poppy! This sweet girl is a 2 year old female Yorkie, Australian Terrier mix. She is super friendly and loves just about everyone and everything she meets. She loves to snuggle and wants to be with you at all times. She still has lots of energy and she loves to romp and play. She never turns down a good belly rub. Even though she is considered an adult, she still has lots of puppy energy! She loves to play ball and to run around the yard. She would make a great addition to a family with an active lifestyle! She is currently located down South at our sister shelters and available for pre-adoption. We do transports to NJ once a month. She can't wait to find her forever home!

Murphy Joe, rescued on 1/13/24, is an extremely sweet but still a little shy, black and tan, male yorkie born on 3/31/22. He loves to snuggle once you pick him up and he is starting to act playful with his foster mom. He weighed 8.4 pounds on 1/15/24. Due to his small size, he will not be considered for homes with young children. He was neutered, had a small growth removed from his eyelid, and given a dental on 2/9/24. He is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped. His adoption donation is $800 which includes the $165 transport fee. “Miss” Abby, a gorgeous, 10 pound, silver platinum female yorkie born 11/2/20 is no longer a working girl and waltzed into her foster mom’s home ready to lay claim and become a house dog. She took over and made herself at home immediately. She is so ready for a home of her own where she can be pampered and spoiled outrageously. Her favorite place to lounge, besides in a chair with her foster mom, is on the back of the recliner where she can look out on the deck and back yard. She sleeps in the bed with her foster mom and that will be a must for her new parent(s). This little gal has a HUGE personality. She gets along well with the other dogs at her foster mom’s home, walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. Abby is spayed and had her teeth cleaned, is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain her good health. She is also microchipped. Abby’s adoption donation is $1200 plus an additional $165 transport fee.
