Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Tyana is one of several dogs who were found on a ranch in the Texas Hill Country. We can only speculate, but we believe that the property owners moved away and left the dogs to fend for themselves.  Tyana's mom Lydia is VERY friendly, but her pups (two generations) are completely unsocialized, so we're guessing they may have been born after the people moved. It's quite possible that the Animal Control Officers who hauled away Tyana and her family were the first humans that she ever had any close contact with. At Windsong Ranch, Tyana is very slowly learning to trust me, but she is still extremely skittish of people in general. Getting her to walk on a leash in order to go to the vet's office is a real challenge, but we've managed it, and once at the vet's office, Tyana has remained calm and quiet. She seems content to stay inside the house, but seems happier and less anxious when she is outside. Tyana gets along well with other dogs and is very playful with them. We believe she would do best in a home with a confident male dog, who can help her see that humans are trustworthy. Due to her skittish nature, she MUST go to a home with secure (visible) fencing. If you are ready to make the commitment to devote yourself to earning Tyana's trust, please complete the application on our website. NOTE: I really struggle to get decent photos of Tyana -- she almost always looks very anxious, even when she's happy -- it's like she's in witness protection and thinks that having her photo taken puts her life at risk. In some of these photos, she is hanging out with other unsocialized or feral dogs, and moments before I pulled out my phone, they were usually happy and smiling, but as soon as I point the camera at them, most of them look like I might be about to kill them. Silly dogs. Also, in some photos, she has what looks like an injury diagonal across her face. Nope, that's just a berry stain. Tyana likes to dig, and it shows in some of these photos. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Young Bennie was picked up as a stray in our rural area, so we don't know anything about his past. He came into rescue with some skin issues which are being treated. At the moment, we're not sure whether he has seasonal allergies, or whether his itchiness was all related to Demodectic mange, which is very common in puppies and young dogs. What we DO know is that Bennie is sweet as can be! In his foster home, he loves having plenty of room for running his zoomies, and he enjoys playing with other dogs. He enjoys sleeping on a big comfy dog bed, and he is a little bit of a hoarder with his stuffed animal toys. Bennie has been neutered and vaccinated, and is ready to find his happily ever after story. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Curly Sue came to us from Oklahoma. Her eyes and build look somewhat Akbash, and her curly coat looks like possibly Kuvasz, or maybe it's produced from a combination of Akbash and Komondor. She is a wonderful livestock guardian. She’s not well socialized with people, but she’s great with our goats, good with other dogs, and hasn’t bothered our barn cats. She is shy but will take a treat from me, so that's an excellent way to start winning her trust. She avoids my touch, but when I manage to get my hands on her, she seems to enjoy have her ears and butt scratched. She was never taught to wear a collar or walk on a leash, so we haven’t yet been able to get her to our chicken yard to test her with chickens. If you need an LGD for goats and don’t have chickens, or keep them in their own coop and yard like we do, then Curly Sue might be the right dog for you!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 10, 2026, 10:47 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. In late 2022, a family of 7 Akbash dogs were found as strays and trapped in Emory, Texas - 2 adults and 5 pups. Gretl is one of the pups from this litter. Gretl is young, big, and lean. Gretl is not as outgoing with people as her mom Maria is, but she has made much more progress in her socialization than her sisters have made. Gretl had an injury to her front right paw -- we're not sure if she was bitten by a spider or snake? Whatever it was, caused her whole paw to swell up terribly and it was definitely infected. We couldn't find a wound track or a foreign body, so we felt like it must have been a bite of some kind. Gretl made many visits to the vet for treatment, and all those trips were good for her socialization and leash-walking skills. Gretl gets along well with other dogs, and is house-trained and crate-trained, though we haven't kept her in a crate in several months because it hasn't been necessary. Gretl enjoys attention from her people, but she doesn't seek it out -- that might come with time. Momma Maria and the 3 sisters Gretl, Liesl, and Brigitta will be adopted out as companion animals and not livestock guardians. If Gretl sounds like the perfect dog for you, please submit your application today!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 7:05 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Emma is one of 6 puppies born to Akbash mom Victoria on a ranch in Central Texas, in the middle of the pasture, surrounded by goats and longhorn cattle. There are multiple working livestock guardian dogs on the ranch, so dad to the puppies is likely an Akbash or Great Pyrenees. Since coming to Bluebonnet, Emma and her siblings have had 3 rounds of vaccinations, along with deworming and monthly preventives. Texas law requires us to spay/neuter all puppies within a certain timeframe, but we can adopt them out on a provisional adoption agreement that is finalized only after the pup has been sterilized. These puppies can be adopted as a family pet/companion, or as future livestock guardians. Either way, they will need appropriate training and supervision, whether that's crate-training and potty-training, or getting them through the stages that even the best LGD puppies go through when they think livestock are playmates. These puppies have NOT been exposed to chickens -- only to goats and cattle. They have had some exposure to our barn cats, but would need proper introductions and supervision in order to live with house cats. Submit your application here!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 7:05 pm

Story
Meet Barney! This pup was wondering around our community for weeks as a stray. Catching him wasn’t easy but let me tell ya, now that he’s had a taste of AC he’s never going back to the stray life haha. Barney in typical Great Pyrenees fashion is an absolute LOVER. He wants do be near his humans and he wants that Pyr fur all over you! Great with dogs big and small although not super playful. Definitely more of a wallflower with the occasional zoomie. Leash work is still a work in progress which for this breed is a lifelong project. What he lacks in that department however he makes up for in looks and charm. -House/Crate Trained -Good with other dogs -Over the top loving -Moderate energy -Loves being with his human. Barney is such a sweet and well tempered boy that woudl do best in a quiet house, as he can be a nervous nelly. We do not ships dog out of state. All adopters must travel to Dallas to meet their potential animal in person before moving forward with an adoption trial run.

Story
Meet Champ – The Underdog Ready to Win Your Heart Champ isn't just his name- it's who he is. This 2-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix (71 lbs) has spent 375 days waiting as of 04/10/26, and through it all, he has never stopped believing that his person is out there. As one of our Diamond Dogs, his adoption fee is just $75- but the loyalty, devotion, and heart he brings are truly priceless. Champ is the kind of dog who forms a deep, unbreakable bond with his person. He is incredibly people-focused, always looking to connect, and thrives when he has someone to call his own. Once you're in his circle, you're everything to him. He walks beautifully on a leash, is intelligent and eager to learn, and does best with structure, routine, and confident leadership. Champ is not just looking for a home- he's looking for a teammate, someone who will guide him, believe in him, and let him be the loyal companion he was meant to be. Champ would do best in a home with older children or adults who are comfortable with a large, strong dog. He is not a match for homes with cats or small animals and will require a securely fenced yard (6Âפ ft, no chain link). He may do well with a submissive female dog or thrive as the only pet where he can fully focus on his person. After more than a year in the shelter, Champ is more than ready to step into the life he deserves- a life where he is no longer waiting, but finally home. Champ is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative as of 03/27/26. If you're looking for a dog who will stand by your side, be fiercely loyal, and give you his whole heart, Champ is ready to meet you. He's waited long enough- now it's his time to win.
