Story
Meet Peyton – A Gentle Soul with So Much Love to Give Located in the DFW Area | Age: 2 Years | Female Peyton’s journey hasn’t been easy, but her heart is still wide open. Rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation, this sweet girl is now safe and thriving in her foster home thanks to TGPR. Peyton is the definition of a love bug—quiet, gentle, and affectionate. She’s learning to trust and build confidence every day and is already showing how much love she has to offer. She gets along beautifully with her foster brother, an extra-large alpha male dog, and is respectful and submissive in all the right ways. She’s also house-trained, crate-comfortable (she even naps there with the door open!), and travels well in the car. Peyton quickly became a staff favorite at both the shelter and the vet’s office, and it’s easy to see why! Her favorite things? Ear rubs, being brushed, and gazing lovingly into your eyes like you’re her whole world. Peyton is looking for a kind, patient family to help her continue her journey to healing and happiness. Could that be you? Apply to meet her at TGPR.org

Story
Charlie is a sweet Akbash/Pyr mix, who is protective of his person, and has the typical Pyr attitude. He is fully vetted, heartworm negative and microchipped. He is approximately 3-4 years old and weighs 102 pounds. Charlie does well with the smaller dogs in the current foster home, though would probably do best as an only dog. Charley very much enjoys "working"...having something to do. Though we do not allow him to be an outdoor dog, he very much enjoys his time in the yard/sun. He loves going for walks, but is often scared of other unknown big dogs. Charlie is great with the cats in the current foster home, and absolutely LOVES men!!! If interested in Charlie, please fill out our foster or adoption application online: www.salvagedsoulspetrescue.org.

Story
How do you spell gorgeous? The answer is Roland. He’s actually stunning! Roland is a three year-old 94lb Anatolian Shepherd that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 1/18 is a stray. He’s a big boy with a big heart and big dreams of finding a furever home. He is extremely soft and would make a great cuddle bug. He will need frequent brushings. He wants to please and listens to directions. He attempted to jump on me and when I told him to get down, he did so. He knows the sit and shake commands. He takes treats gently. He is very alert and explored the yard. He would frolic joyfully but then come back to check in. He wants to be near his human. He seemed to enjoy having his ears scratched. He did his business in the yard and possibly may be housebroken. He has a slight pull on the leash but I was pleasantly surprised at how gentle he was. He was reactive to a dog in a kennel next to his so if you have another dog, we ask that you ask the shelter for a dog test. Obviously, he will need plenty of room so please check if his breed and size is allowed in the home. Having a secured yard to romp in to burn off some energy. Then he’d like to come inside for cuddle time.

Story
Meet Mickey! He is a 3yr old neutered male Great Pyrenees/Kangal Shepherd dog that weighs 68lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 12/27 as a stray. When first arriving at the shelter, he was unsure of why he was there, and needed time to decompress. Staff and volunteers continued to help him adjust and he is doing much better now. He walks beautifully on a leash, did his business in the shelter yard and spent a significant amount of time with his nose to ground, sniffing out all the glorious smells! He is lively and active, and yet a well-mannered gentle boy. He is sociable, friendly and sweet natured and perfectly good with being loved on and petted. He does seem to have herding tendencies which is part of the breed. He knows the sit and paw commands (will give both paws!). He has a soft silky, beautiful coat, and is waiting for his own loving family to come meet him.
