Story
6/17 From Celine Dion`s Day Hike:Celine Dion did great on the Chandler bike path today! This is probably too much detail, but here is a recap!(Pictures/video attached!)---She was very excited in her kennel and a little impatient/mouthy (*super gentle) while I got her suited up. But once we were on the move, she was awesome. Nothing fazed her -- other people, cards, bikes, riding lawn mowers. She couldn`t care less. She pulled a little, but not hard. She was just happy to be moving and grooving. And she was very responsive to corrections and good at waiting to cross the street. If left to her own devices, I think she would have liked to be friends with all the other dogs. Every time we saw a dog across the street/coming up she was very attuned to them, and seemed like she wanted to say hi. But she didn`t bark or aggressively bolt toward them or anything. She was good to move on when I prompted her. We did some very short stretches of jogging (limited only by my own lack of stamina) and she seemed to enjoy that. I`m sure she would have loved to run faster/longer. We sat outside a cafe for a few minutes and she drank some water. And then at the end of the walk she laid in the grass for a little bit. ( She was much calmer getting undressed when we got back to her kennel, naturally. And she now has a tagged hiking kit if she can come on the Sunday hikes!

Story
Bruce is a slightly older gent has a playful soul and a FOMO vibe, but also some creaky joints (I relate to all of the above). He’s an absolute stunner with his dark eyes and bright fluffy face. He’s overall a gentle guy, but he does get super nosy about what the other dogs are up to. He’s gonna need humans who understand his need for long walks at a leisurely pace, his desire to know what the neighbors are up to, his skill yelling at squirrels to protect the home, and be willing to fulfill their quota for bum scritches daily. He also has some skin issues that will require ongoing care in the form of regular medicated baths and routine check ins with the doctor. He’s been at the shelter for a few months, in part because our medical team was getting on top of creating a care program that they will happily share with his adopters. His age and medical needs means his future humans will need to be a super awesome type- generous of heart and time and with an abundance of love to give. If you think you might fit that bill, or know someone who does, head into the Burbank Animal Shelter and meet Bruce for yourself. You will not regret it. He’s pretty darn wonderful.

Story
Say hello to energetic Roo. This young athletic pup is an absolute stunner with super unique looks. He’s got a ton of energy and is eager for adventure. It was hiking day and he was super excited to get geared up and jumped in the car like he’d been doing it every day. As we hiked , he pulled me up the hill a bit (thanks buddy!) but would also take breaks to check in with me and the group- looking around to see where everyone was. He could use some leash etiquette training, but he got better over time, so he’s definitely going to learn well with consistent reinforcement. He’ll definitely be a great match for a human/ family that likes to keep active and seeks out adventures in life. He’s not overly affectionate but he definitely liked connecting and accepted me giving him head kisses after we’d covered the miles together. He’s a definite goofball who’s looking for his role in things. If you’re looking for a good buddy who’s a little goofy, a little independent, and a lot handsome- Roo might be your guy. Head into the Burbank Animal Shelter to meet him for yourself! From Roo’s Day hike adventure on 3-10-26:Roo is an interesting fellow. He is smart and fun and adventurous. He checked in with me throughout the walk, which was very sweet. We started on the side streets and quickly moved to the path. We walked along Whitnall Highway North park and saw lots of people, pups, and squirrels. He eventually settled into his walk, and I suspect that with more practice, he`ll be an excellent walker. He`s really confident, which isn`t unusual for a teenage boy. I look forward to spending more time with this special boy. I posted pics on IG and tagged the VBAS.

Story
If you're looking for a dog who will be your shadow, your adventure buddy, & your favorite cuddle partner, Colby Jack may be the one you've been waiting for.Colby is a 45lb Husky mix with the best personality! She is affectionate, silly, playful, & absolutely loves being close to her people. Whether she's curled up next to you, cruising on a car ride, or exploring the neighborhood on a sniff walk, she's happiest when she's spending time with her favorite humans. She is house-trained & sleeps quietly in her crate through the night. Her story began when she was found hiding injured beneath a bush in a neighbor's yard. She had suffered a severe fracture to one of her hind legs & required extensive veterinary care. Thanks to months of treatment, rest, & recovery, she has made remarkable progress. She is nearly fully healed & requires no special daily care. Currently, she would do best as the only pet in the home. After everything, all she wants is a safe home and people to love her

Meet Chani! Chani is a beautiful dog with a sweet disposition. She's gentle and easy to handle, walks well on a leash, and responds to commands. Chani is good with dogs, but can be selective. She tends to prefer smaller dogs like her three Chihuahua foster brothers whom she loves! She loves to smile and give kisses. She is super lovable and loves to just melt in your arms while receiving her favorite thing ever...belly rubs! She will make a great family pet. Adopt Chani!

Story
Tyson (Max)This sweet gentle giant was originally found as a stray in Burbank and spent a good amount of time here. He was friendly with staff and volunteers and was an excellent guest. He was adopted and we thought it was his happily ever after, until someone spotted him at another shelter. We were fortunate enough to have a kennel space for him, and he was picked up from that shelter and brought back here, where he is known and loved by our staff and volunteers. So, let’s try this again! Originally Tyson, but named Max by the last adopters, needs another chance at happiness. He is a mature gentleman, that seems to be house/potty trained and is just looking for a calm, stable, loving, home. He has participated in Play Groups with other dogs, so if you’re looking for a companion for your dog, he might fit the bill. He would also make a good companion for a younger puppy who needs to learn the ways of life from an experienced boy. We are unsure how he is with kids, so a meet and greet is a must, but we suspect he would do okay with respectful children. Help heal this sweet boy’s heart and give him the home he deserves. Ask to see him out of the cage and you can see for yourself how special he is.
