Story
As a dog who has been waiting to be adopted for more than a 100 days, I’m part of the Wishin’ and Hopin’ adoption promotion! Dogs who have been waiting for their fur-ever homes for over 100 days will come with a free training package, toys, leash, collar and harness. Fulfill my dream and bring me home! For qualified adopters only. Hello! My name is Tank and I am a two year-old, 110lbs, neutered male Akita mix dog looking for a forever home. I'm a confident dude that knows who he is and and is comfortable in his own skin. I can be quite independent like most Akitas and thrive on my routine that I have built. I enjoy long walks and am energetic when the mood strikes me but I am an expert at lounging about and relaxing. I'm a big boy so I would do best in a household with young teens and adults. I'm the king of the castle and would prefer to be the only pet in the household. If a cool, calm and collected, extra large boy sound like the perfect dog for your household, then please come in to the shelter to get more information about my history and personality. I look forward to meeting with you!  Tank ID# A925738 If you are interested in meeting with me, please submit your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to adoptinquire@peninsulahumanesociety.org and an adoption counselor will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet in person. You must be 18 or older to submit an application. Story
Kazhem is a very handsome, somewhat shy Akita mix who warms up slowly to new people. But once he is comfortable he will share his goofy personality with you, running zoomies in the grass and showing off his great smile and happy tail wag.He gets along great with other dogs on the beach, the trails and probably in the dog park, but would prefer to be the only doggo in his forever home. Once Kazhem bonds with you he`s very devoted and wants to be with you all the time. Retirees, professionals who work at home, and anyone else who could make him a part of their daily life would be his dream family!

Luna AO55296 – Spayed female Akita,  approximately 7-years old, 67 pounds   Abandoned by her owner.   Luna is very affectionate with everyone she meets and is a volunteer favorite!   She has nice leash manners and is attentive as she enjoys exploratory walks.   Luna may be housebroken since she keeps her kennel clean. She is quiet in her kennel even though most dogs are barking.   Luna likes other dogs and tested well with  males and females, large and small. Not good with dogs,
Story
At the Placer SPCA in Roseville, California, we have a 5-year old, white female Akita up for adoption. Her name is Pearl and she is very sweet and loves to play. She was surrendered to us when her family had to move into an apartment and she did not meet the weight requirement. We think she would do best in an Akita-experienced home where she can be the only dog as she has not been friendly with the dogs she has met, though she was in a home with another Akita when she was younger as well as a small dog. She also does not like her feet touched and has some resource guarding with treats. She has great manners and is easy to walk.  For more information about Pearl or to meet her, please contact: Placer SPCA 200 Tahoe Avenue Roseville, CA. 95678 916-872-6169 (This listing is to help assist direct placements of rescues that are currently with other rescue groups, shelters or their current owners. Story
Hi! My name is Simon. The shelter thinks I am around 3 years old. I am a medium to high energy Akita mix with gorgeous marking and a great voice! I LOVE playing with balls in the play yard. As a matter of fact, you don’t even need to toss the ball to me, I will just grab it, toss it in the air and entertain myself! You can see me in action here: https://youtube.com/shorts/pm2IkJ4sYIU The volunteers are very confident that I am housebroken. I am kind of a big puppy, but with some manners. I know how to “sit” and walk well on leash. I am required to be the only dog based on my initial assessment. I am also recommended to be in a home with high school-aged kids or older. I would be an ideal dog for a family with older kids and someone with space for me to romp around! And don’t forget that I am house trained and have lovely manners. I am also super handsome and love giving doggie hugs and getting affection! For more information or to visit me, please contact: Carson Animal Care Center — Los Angeles 216 W Victoria Street Gardena, CA 90248 310-523-9566 www.animalcare.lacounty.gov Shelter Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday - 2pm to 5pm Wednesday - 2pm to 7pm (This listing is to help assist direct placements of rescues that are currently with other rescue groups, shelters or their current owners. Story
While this big boy is new to us and we are getting acquainted, there are some things that are obvious from the get go. He and his female Shepherd companion found their way into an auto body shop seeking shelter and a cool place in the shade, which they found when they crawled under an old RV. By the looks of them, it seems they had been on their own for awhile.

Animal control picked them up, although it wasn't clear if they were picked up together or if they'd become separated at some point. We can only hope she was adopted.

Miles has settled nicely into the kennel and is now looking healthy and absolutely stunning! He's a big boy with a gentle nature and a very playful side. He loves attention and will give kisses and offer play bows. He also possesses typical Akita stubbornness and an independent nature.

He will require a breed savvy owner, no exceptions.

Miles currently weighs about 75 pounds and probably can put on another pound or two. We think he is approximately 5-6 years old. Stay tuned for more info!   Interested in adopting? Story
Hiromi was turned into the shelter as a found dog. No one ever came for her. Despite being failed by her former person, this sweetheart remains devoted and loving. After Hiromi’s arrival she was initially timid and lacked confidence. She can still be somewhat apprehensive but in less than 10 days, she has opened up and trusted us enough to let her true colors shine! She is silly, sensitive, refreshingly affectionate, playful and a free spirit. Her absolute favorite past time is to be showered with love and give it in return. Her gentle, resilient nature is inspiring but not surprising. Hiromi is very communicative by expressing a multitude of emotions with her eyes. Her body language is inviting and she understands how to use it to subtly let you know what’s on her mind. She is also an Akita so stubbornness is part of her DNA! Her ideal adopter should have a calm home environment and be able to provide consistency and a daily routine, where she can continue to expand her horizons. Hiromi gets excited for her daily walks and is a great traveler! She greets people with ease as long as they approach with the same calm energy that she emits. She seems non-reactive to other dogs and might do well with a mellow male dog. This gorgeous girl is approximately 4-years old and weighs 57 pounds. She is also crate and house trained. She is ready to pledge her love and devotion! Are you?! Interested in adopting?
