Story
Jabulani, lovingly nicknamed Jabu for short, is a sweet girl looking to affectionately nuzzle her way into your heart! This precious girl absolutely adores being in the company of her human companions. She greets everyone she meets with a curly tailed tail wag and lots of slobbery kisses. She also makes sure to show off her agile spins and funny vocalizations to wow her new friends. She is an energetic and active pup that would love to go for long walks, spend some time playing fetch in the yard, training using positive reinforcement methods, and enjoying a nice food puzzle. Jabu is also a gold medalist at tug-of-war and an expert in squeeky toys. This elegant and refined young lady would prefer a home without tiny little hands as she enjoys her space after meals and that can be hard for kiddos to understand. Jabu really loves her people and can be heard whining and complaining when left at home alone. With some support from our behavior team you should be able to work through her very mild separation anxiety.Overall, Jabu is a smart and bouncy girl, spinning around when she gets excited and even loves exploring the beach and dipping her paws in the ocean with her humans. Kuma is a male Akita Mix that is about one to two years old. He still squats to pee! He is such a sweet boy with a happy-go-lucky temperament and medium energy. He has shown to do well with other dogs big and small. He is playful when they want to play and takes social cues well. He is very well-mannered. Kuma loves to do tricks for treats, go for walks, and get all the pets and attention he can.  Our shelter is overflowing and we are having to double/triple up on kennels. We don't know much about Tobi's past, but his future is bright.  He is a big boy with a heart the size to match.  He is a gentle giant with a gregarious, carefree attitude and is eager to learn and experience the world. He is game for adventure and deserves to have that special someone to accompany him in life. Tobi is playful and has a welcoming aura about him.  He also has an unabashed, confident side to him.  He's just not sure how he ended up here, and we're making sure he never has to wonder that ever again. He is best as an only dog and someone with previous Akita experience is best. Tobi is approximately 5 yrs old, and due to his size should be on a good quality joint supplement.  He's only been with us a short time, so will need to gain a few pounds to look his best, but he's already on his way to showing us his beautiful soul. On Friday 9/19/25, I found an Akita Mix roaming around my neighborhood in Benicia, California.  He was found at George Court and Cheryl Drive.  He had no tags and no chip. I posted him on all of the local social sites and took him to the county shelter in Fairfield on Friday afternoon.  As of yesterday he was still there. His stray hold is up tomorrow. I am reaching out to in hope that someone can potentially pull him out of the shelter environment. His identification at the shelter is A305236.  If you know where this Akita's home is or are able to provide a new home for him, please send email to info@tikihutakitarescue.com or contact the shelter.

Hi there! My name is Timber and I'm a 2 year old, 75lbs., neutered male Husky mix. I am a goofy boy who can't help but entertain you with my amazing acrobatics! I am pretty treat motivated but you have to grab my attention first. I can't wait to get started on learning how to be the best dog I can be, and work on these strange things the staff here call manners. Did you know us dogs don't have thumbs? So, we often use our mouths to try and grab your attention, I need to work on that. While I do, I should go home to a family with kids 10+. If you have a dog, I'd love to meet him or her. I've been very friendly with other dogs as long as we have the same playstyle and they don't mind my puppy energy!  Timber ID# A972308 I recently went on a field trip with a PHS volunteer! Here's how I did: Timber went on a two-hour off-site, mostly a long, steady walk. We went from Lantos along Rollins Rd. to Broadway, crossing at two crosswalks to reach the Audi/Porsche dealership, then continuing to the Rollins side of the Rosalie O’Mahony pedestrian and bicycle bridge. At multiple crosswalks after the walk signal, Timber became jumpy as walking resumed, suggesting excitement when movement restarted after waiting. Timber crossed the O’Mahony bridge without hesitation, fear, or reactivity, and was comfortable approaching the fence to calmly watch heavy 101 traffic and louder vehicles passing below. On the far side, he crossed additional crosswalks to reach the Bay Trail, where keeping him on a short leash, staying physically close, and maintaining light tension reduced his jumpiness at those crossings. The walk continued along the Bay Trail and then across Airport Blvd. into Bayside Park. Timber showed good loose-leash skills overall; however, walking with a shorter leash, gentle contact, and sometimes with my leg and his back lightly touching seemed to help him settle and enjoy the walk. Back in his dorm, Timber worked on sit, down, stay, and place, then played a brief “find it” game with kibble.Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by.
