Story
Eva was initially a stray and since adoption has shown significant separation anxiety. She is incredibly sweet and loving but the separation anxiety has been a challenge for our family. She will pace for hours and has on occasion scratched at the door or window while we have left her home. We’ve also tried to leave her in the backyard for short periods of times (i.e. school drop off) and she has jumped our nearly 6 foot fence. She has always been good with other dogs. She loves belly rubs, going to the dog park and playing tug. She also loves walking and is a good running buddy, but she’s also very strong and is difficult to handle because she pulls a lot. For the right family she would be an amazing dog, but unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be our family despite many efforts. Perhaps a family with more experience with a dog would be a good start - she is our first and we are out of our depth and really want her to thrive.

Story
Kazhem is a very handsome, somewhat shy Akita mix who warms up slowly to new people. But once he is comfortable he will share his goofy personality with you, running zoomies in the grass and showing off his great smile and happy tail wag.He gets along great with other dogs on the beach, the trails and probably in the dog park, but would prefer to be the only doggo in his forever home. Once Kazhem bonds with you he`s very devoted and wants to be with you all the time. Retirees, professionals who work at home, and anyone else who could make him a part of their daily life would be his dream family!

Story
At the Placer SPCA in Roseville, California, we have a 5-year old, white female Akita up for adoption. Her name is Pearl and she is very sweet and loves to play. She was surrendered to us when her family had to move into an apartment and she did not meet the weight requirement. We think she would do best in an Akita-experienced home where she can be the only dog as she has not been friendly with the dogs she has met, though she was in a home with another Akita when she was younger as well as a small dog. She also does not like her feet touched and has some resource guarding with treats. She has great manners and is easy to walk.  For more information about Pearl or to meet her, please contact: Placer SPCA 200 Tahoe Avenue Roseville, CA. 95678 916-872-6169 (This listing is to help assist direct placements of rescues that are currently with other rescue groups, shelters or their current owners. Story
Hi! My name is Simon. The shelter thinks I am around 3 years old. I am a medium to high energy Akita mix with gorgeous marking and a great voice! I LOVE playing with balls in the play yard. As a matter of fact, you don’t even need to toss the ball to me, I will just grab it, toss it in the air and entertain myself! You can see me in action here: https://youtube.com/shorts/pm2IkJ4sYIU The volunteers are very confident that I am housebroken. I am kind of a big puppy, but with some manners. I know how to “sit” and walk well on leash. I am required to be the only dog based on my initial assessment. I am also recommended to be in a home with high school-aged kids or older. I would be an ideal dog for a family with older kids and someone with space for me to romp around! And don’t forget that I am house trained and have lovely manners. I am also super handsome and love giving doggie hugs and getting affection! For more information or to visit me, please contact: Carson Animal Care Center — Los Angeles 216 W Victoria Street Gardena, CA 90248 310-523-9566 www.animalcare.lacounty.gov Shelter Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday - 2pm to 5pm Wednesday - 2pm to 7pm (This listing is to help assist direct placements of rescues that are currently with other rescue groups, shelters or their current owners. Story
Hiromi was turned into the shelter as a found dog. No one ever came for her. Despite being failed by her former person, this sweetheart remains devoted and loving. After Hiromi’s arrival she was initially timid and lacked confidence. She can still be somewhat apprehensive but in less than 10 days, she has opened up and trusted us enough to let her true colors shine! She is silly, sensitive, refreshingly affectionate, playful and a free spirit. Her absolute favorite past time is to be showered with love and give it in return. Her gentle, resilient nature is inspiring but not surprising. Hiromi is very communicative by expressing a multitude of emotions with her eyes. Her body language is inviting and she understands how to use it to subtly let you know what’s on her mind. She is also an Akita so stubbornness is part of her DNA! Her ideal adopter should have a calm home environment and be able to provide consistency and a daily routine, where she can continue to expand her horizons. Hiromi gets excited for her daily walks and is a great traveler! She greets people with ease as long as they approach with the same calm energy that she emits. She seems non-reactive to other dogs and might do well with a mellow male dog. This gorgeous girl is approximately 4-years old and weighs 57 pounds. She is also crate and house trained. She is ready to pledge her love and devotion! Are you?! Interested in adopting? Story
Meet Azul! MO4PAWS is networking Azul for a family that can no longer keep him due to their living situation and son moving out of the country. He’s a very good and loving dog, all he wants is attention and love. He loves to go out and has the typical husky energy. He is currently an outdoor dog with the family he resides at. As would any dog, with some training and guidance he will be a wonderful dog for someone! When it comes to kids, he isn't aggressive with other people and has never bit anyone, he just can be a little jumpy as a result of his energy. We want to find a family that will just love him and take him in as part of their own!

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, April 6th at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-3pm, unless he/she is set up and adopted prior to the event. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $600 Leo is a 5 Month old Husky Mix who is coming to you directly from the stages of Broadway! These brothers, Leo and Max, are full of charisma and charm, and are ready to impress you with their talented voices and wits. Arriving from the shelter, Max and Leo’s goal is to step into the limelight and steal their forever families’ hearts. DPS will be looking for separate homes for each brother because both pups need their individual spotlight. Just like his character in The Producers, Leo is a highly intelligent companion, picking up tricks very quickly and enjoying snuggles with his foster family. He also is a loyal brother, always rushing to aid Max in carrying out a scheme. As these boys grow, they will become large pups looking to keep their new families active and engaged. Words from the Foster:“Leo is a gentle, loving pup who loves cuddles and fuzzy blankets. He is often found curled up in front of the heating vent. While his brother is outgoing, Leo is more quietly clever. He quickly learned that sit gets him a treat and is eager to find out what other words get him snacks! Leo has heterochromia and his striking looks garner him attention from all who meet him! This Producer can’t wait to charm his new family! Leo is almost housetrained; his rare accidents (2/week) are at times when he is not encouraged to go outside after eating. Leo is doing well walking on a leash and knows how to sit to get a treat. Leo is undaunted by cold or rain, and happy to frolic outside regardless of weather. We leave Leo loose in the house unattended for ≤1.5 hr when he seems pretty chill – like after he has been out for a walk. He went through a very chewy phase and is coming out of it but there is still some risk. Leo goes easily in his crate with a little kibble enticement. Leo is a big snuggle bug but is also not a Velcro dog. He is very intuitive and aware of the other residents (furry and human) in the household. Max and Leo play very well with our big dog and have had curious interactions with our two cats. They are working on house training but are puppies, so of course accidents are expected! While the brothers are more mellow than your typical husky, they will still be active pups when fully grown and can’t wait to plan some adventures with their forever families!” A Day in the Life of Leo:“Max and Leo wake up around 7 AM after sleeping through the night. After some morning greetings, they run outside for a potty break. After breakfast, they go outside for about 1 hour to run around and play. Then they hang out inside with the resident dogs until their foster mom has a break to take them for a morning walk. After the morning walk they get a chewie and then nap. They have a kibble snack in the middle of the day and then romp outside and/or nap. They get another walk in the afternoon/early evening. They have dinner at 7 PM, go out immediately after to relieve themselves, then watch some TV and go out for an evening walk around 9:30/10 PM.” Eligibility to Adopt:Interested homes should have owned a dog in the past. Priority will be given to homes that have experience with training large-breed dogs. Kids in the home should be over the age of 7.April 24, 2024, 10:21 am
