Story
Mojo is an ADORABLE 4y/88lb WHITE Akita/Husky w/ 2 blue eyes. The SOLE, SOLE reason we must find him a lifestyle less social is I bring my dog to work. I work in mental health (1-on-1) & it’s too much exposure for the Akita in Mojo, so loyal to the owner. My PTSD/cancer clients can’t pet him anymore like 8 years of my previous Akita/husky/malamute. For the last 2 of Mojo’s 4 mo.s, clients settle for RELISHing him at their feet … tho he sneaks in “quicks licks” to the hand upon greeting most. So, Akita = no greeting other dogs & no dog parks. For me, no road trips w/ a friend + her dog. BUT, Mojo’s glorious parts made us postpone rehoming: with his owner, he is SUPREMELY affectionate. He walks to my bed & as I plant my feet on the ground & lean over, he nestles his nose in my chest at length. Mojo is FINE w/ my friends on walks, at home, etc - as long as they only pet briefly. I just need ZEEERO risk a dog will snap at a PTSD/cancer client for obvious reasons. A gifted Akita.

Story
Hiromi was turned into the shelter as a found dog. No one ever came for her. Despite being failed by her former person, this sweetheart remains devoted and loving. After Hiromi’s arrival she was initially timid and lacked confidence. She can still be somewhat apprehensive but in less than 10 days, she has opened up and trusted us enough to let her true colors shine! She is silly, sensitive, refreshingly affectionate, playful and a free spirit. Her absolute favorite past time is to be showered with love and give it in return. Her gentle, resilient nature is inspiring but not surprising. Hiromi is very communicative by expressing a multitude of emotions with her eyes. Her body language is inviting and she understands how to use it to subtly let you know what’s on her mind. She is also an Akita so stubbornness is part of her DNA! Her ideal adopter should have a calm home environment and be able to provide consistency and a daily routine, where she can continue to expand her horizons. Hiromi gets excited for her daily walks and is a great traveler! She greets people with ease as long as they approach with the same calm energy that she emits. She seems non-reactive to other dogs and might do well with a mellow male dog. This gorgeous girl is approximately 4-years old and weighs 57 pounds. She is also crate and house trained. She is ready to pledge her love and devotion! Are you?! Interested in adopting? Story
While this big boy is new to us and we are getting acquainted, there are some things that are obvious from the get go. He and his female Shepherd companion found their way into an auto body shop seeking shelter and a cool place in the shade, which they found when they crawled under an old RV. By the looks of them, it seems they had been on their own for awhile.

Animal control picked them up, although it wasn't clear if they were picked up together or if they'd become separated at some point. We can only hope she was adopted.

Miles has settled nicely into the kennel and is now looking healthy and absolutely stunning! He's a big boy with a gentle nature and a very playful side. He loves attention and will give kisses and offer play bows. He also possesses typical Akita stubbornness and an independent nature.

He will require a breed savvy owner, no exceptions.

Miles currently weighs about 75 pounds and probably can put on another pound or two. We think he is approximately 5-6 years old. Stay tuned for more info!   Interested in adopting? Not good with dogs,
Story
At the Placer SPCA in Roseville, California, we have a 5-year old, white female Akita up for adoption. Her name is Pearl and she is very sweet and loves to play. She was surrendered to us when her family had to move into an apartment and she did not meet the weight requirement. We think she would do best in an Akita-experienced home where she can be the only dog as she has not been friendly with the dogs she has met, though she was in a home with another Akita when she was younger as well as a small dog. She also does not like her feet touched and has some resource guarding with treats. She has great manners and is easy to walk.  For more information about Pearl or to meet her, please contact: Placer SPCA 200 Tahoe Avenue Roseville, CA. 95678 916-872-6169 (This listing is to help assist direct placements of rescues that are currently with other rescue groups, shelters or their current owners.
