Story
This lovely boy's name is Mugsy Meatball and his favorite things include sleeping on the couch, peanut butter, belly rubs, and bird watching! He opens up to people very quickly and makes friends with every person he meets. Mugsy is house trained and has done well on a feeding and potty schedule. He’s had some training and knows basic commands. His leash skills could use some work as he gets very excited by his surroundings, but he’s very treat-motivated and responds well to redirection. Mugsy is a big cuddle bug and loves to share his space and yours! He enjoys shorter walks and would thrive in a securely fenced in yard to burn off his energy at his own pace. He can get excited and jumps to say hello, so a home without young children is recommended. He is not dog-friendly in face-to-face interactions and will need an experienced owner to manage introductions, but doesn’t seem to mind other dogs in passing. If you're looking for a funny and charming dog to relax with, Mugsy's your guy!

Story
Venus was rescued back in October. Her first week in rescue was 24/7 hospital care on IV liquids, antibiotics, and pain medicine. Her diagnosis included several broken ribs (likely from humans kicking her). We have a strong inkling that Venus somehow escaped from the life of a bait dog for dog fighting which sadly is commonplace in our state. She was very thin, every bone in her body was protruding and she had very infected abcesses all over her body from bite wounds. She had heartworms and has completed the full treatment. She has made a complete recovery and is ready to be a part of a family, something she has never had before! She does not get along with other dogs. Cats aren’t her thing either, but she makes up for it with loyalty, affection, and the sweetest temperament. Venus is ready to brighten someone’s world. Could it be yours? She is currently being fostered in Mississippi but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal friendly transport on the road! Please message us if you are interested in adopting this little girl and we will send you an adoption application! We look forward to talking with you!

Story
Meet Bojangles! This loving bully mix is just five months old and already the happy go lucky kind of dog that people dream of having. While adventuring and floating on the river are his favorite activities so far, this fella is also down for playing with other dogs. Despite his adventurous nature, Bojangles will also settle well in a crate and is totally up for snuggling with his person. If this sounds like the pup for you, please complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. Story
Violet is a loving, people-oriented pup who came from Philly ACCT in July 2024 and has been an absolute cuddle bug ever since. She adores being close to her humans – her favorite things are going for walks and then curling up on your lap to relax. Unfortunately, Violet and my resident dog aren’t able to get along, so with a heavy heart I’m looking for a new home where Violet can truly thrive. Violet would do best in: A home where she is the only dog, With someone who loves hugs & snuggles, and has gentle structure, A person or family who enjoys spending time together. She is good with kids with an introduction. She is so deserving of a calm, loving environment where she can be the center of someone’s world with lots of warmth and affection. I want to be sure we can get her there! While experienced owners are always welcome, Vi is very self-sufficient and super easy . 📩 If you’re interested in meeting Violet or want to learn more about her, send me a message!Insta: Vi_like_princess_Di

There not much to this old man! He’s a couch potato, he enjoys rubs, attention, walks, good with adults, children and even other animals. Occasionally he’ll have a burst of energy and want to play. He’s a loving fluffy friend! (Family). I will miss him dearly. I unfortunately have to relocated to a new loving home due to landlord issues. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out!

Story
Meet Delilah (ACCT-A-252576)! This sweet girl is the definition of a "gentle giant." Having lived in a home for several years, Delilah is already an expert at being a companion. She is a medium-energy lady who is fully housebroken and knows her basic commands. While the shelter environment can be a little overwhelming for her at first, her true personality shines the moment she steps outside. On a recent day trip, she proved to be a champion explorer! she walks beautifully on a leash, stays close to her human, and is happy to ignore runners, bikers, and other animals passing by. Delilah’s favorite activities include playing a fun game of "tag" or "chase" and then settling down for a long, restful nap—especially if there’s a soft blanket involved. She’s also a big fan of rope toys and the occasional pup cup! She is very gentle when taking treats and loves to be near her people, often leaning in for pets or snoozing right by your side. In the car, she might be a little nervous at the start of a journey, but she settles in nicely once she realizes she’s going on an adventure. Delilah lived previously with adults and was described as a "good dog" who is friendly with everyone she meets. If you’re looking for a calm, sweet, and well-mannered addition to your home, Delilah is ready to meet you! 📽️Videos📽️: Major and Delilah meet https://youtube.com/shorts/b5b-BsWZkz4?si=1Y8PVdCGv9TBOTbU Delilah and Champ leashed meet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GY3FvuK52x4 Lou Lou and Delilah drop leash https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdV523Uh1bA Playgroup 6/12 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbtzbdYONE94 ⭐Behavioral Notes⭐ 06/17/2026 day trip: Activities on the Day Trip: We went to the park and walked around, where Delilah met some friendly faces. Everyone she met said she was very sweet and calm. Afterwards, she lounged in the grass/shade for a while. Throughout the day, we occasionally went on short walks, but she mostly wanted to nap. Delilah ended the day with a pup cup! She was a fan of walking up steps and small bursts of jogging. How was the dog in the car? She was good in the car, definitely better on the way back. On the ride there, we had somebody in the back seat with her because she was initially shaking. She was less nervous riding in the car later, as she was more familiar with us, so we did not sit in the back with her. This allowed her to lay down more comfortably. She seemed to have a hard time laying down if there wasn’t ample space. How comfortable was the dog in new surroundings? Very comfortable How did the dog react seeing other animals in passing (cats, dogs, squirrels, birds, etc.)? Did not react/ignored them How did the dog react seeing people, such as runners, bikers, or children? Delilah was very friendly with other people. She was happy to lay down next to anyone and accept pets from them. When she was lounging and runners/bikers/children walked by, the only reaction she gave was a little lift of her head. She was very sweet. Describe the dog’s leash manners (e.g., pulls on leash, walks nicely, jumpy, leash biting). Delilah walked beautifully on a leash! She stays very close by and does not tug. She didn’t want the leash tugged to be guided, but she was happy to follow closely if you started moving in one direction. How did the dog take treats? She didn’t take any treats at first because she was unfamiliar with us. However, once she warmed up, she took treats very gently. Favorite moment from day trip? Relaxing on the blanket with her while she napped was the sweetest. She was comfortable laying right on top of us while she snoozed. Please share any information about the dog that would be helpful to know: Her leash skills were very impressive, especially for a larger dog. She was very desensitized to any touches. She liked to be close to people. She was very comfortable with pets, but didn’t often seek them out. She has a slight gait to her walk when she wakes up from a nap and is slow to get moving again. While she was interested in the food we ate, she never once tried to take it from us or jump in any way. Delilah was so wonderful!! 06/14/2026 per staff: Appeasing while leashing (ducked head, low wags) and a delightful gentle giant the rest of the time. Pulls minimally on leash, checks in often. Peed as soon as we were on the grass. In the volunteer office, greeted several new volunteers as they passed through without issue. As soon as a blanket was presented to her, she flopped down and took a long, deep, restful nap. 06/12/2026 playgroup: Barely steerable with spray bottle (1/5), not shake can (0/5). Neutral, aloof during gate greetings. Steady entry, quick appropriate greets with Antari in passing, before resuming independent meandering / exploring. Aloof. Slightly handler-oriented, checking in occasionally. 06/11/2026 per volunteer behavioral eval: Kennel Presentation: Laying on bed shaking when I approached. Looked at me with darty eyes. When I opened door, remained still. Did no flinch or react as I got closer with leash and easily lassoed. Once leashed, Delilah hopped right up and out the kennel. Leash Skills: Walks slow, good on leash. Sociability: She was very different behaviorally outside of kennel. She went around the perimeter and was curious about every person that passed. She loved playing 'chase' with me and running back and forth in the dog run. She had tail wags and stayed in place for pets all over. Was confident. Play: Loves 'tag' and 'chase' games with humans. Dog Interaction: NA Return to Kennel: Hopped in herseld and got right on her bed. Color Level: Gold for fear in kennel. 06/10/2026 per staff: Walked by kennel and Delilah was sitting, all of the dogs were barking as I had just returned a dog. I said hi to her and heard a very low growl. Her eyes were not hard, she didn’t seem stiff or tense, and her mouth wasn’t open. I left and came back a few minutes later and she was asleep ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week.
