Story
Doug is a young, large, puppy-like dog who would benefit from socialization and training, but who wouldn't? His new home should be experienced with dogs and should have the time and energy to dedicate to Doug's exercise needs and training. Any potential doggie-housemates would require a meet and greet. If you like large breed dogs, Doug is your guy! Hamilton Township Animal Shelter cannot offer any guarantees on the age, health, temperament, personality or mental disposition of any pet. Story
Age:6 Weight: 95 Location: Perkasie, PA Nicknames: Hondo Mondo, Da Big Bubba Good with other dogs?: Yes, Other:. Hondo is mostly, indifferent to other dogs. He will want to sniff and check another dog out in the home but will avoid a confrontational dog. Good with cats? unknown, will not be adopted to a home with a cat Good with children? OK for kids over: 10-12 Activity Preference: Will go with the flow IQ: Average Hondo's favorite things: Hondo really does like to go for walks. One or two a day would be sufficient, and he generally tops out at about 1 mile. One of his favorite things are blankets. He will play, nibble, or just cuddle up with them. Hondo is good at: staying in a crate, behaving in the house, making me feel safe, walking on a leash, cuddling, following commands Ideal home: quiet environment, a fenced yard Training Needs: socialization with people, socialization with dogs Health issues: Hondo does seem to have some seasonal allergies. But nothing extensive. Meet Hondo Hondo is a wonderfully adorable big-headed bulldog. Unfortunately, he was abused by a man and that overall has affected his trust in men. So, he definitely prefers a female human companion. Hondo needs some time to adjust to new surrounds, but once that adjustment time is over…hold on to your hats! This boy follows his foster mom around like it's his job. Hondo and his foster mom like to go for walks together, they both totally prefer the cooler weather! Once done for the night they cuddle on the couch together. Hondo knows that he's not allowed to be crazy on the couch though, otherwise he gets kicked off and has to lay on the floor. Hondo sits nicely for treats and any food you are willing to part with. He goes into a crate with ease, sometimes preferring to lay in there to chew on a bone while foster mom cooks dinner. He will let you know that he has to go outside, sometimes a little too much. He has no idea how big he is, which is why older children would be better suited. Hondo is ALL BULLDOG. Goofy, silly, stubborn, hardheaded (figuratively and literally) but most importantly, loving. PLEASE READ: Adopters will not be considered without completing an application. Please contact Debbie (Deb@AmericanbulldogRescue.org) for more information about this pet.  Dog: Hazel Age:  1 year old, estimated dob: 3/1/2023 Weight: 76 lbs Location: Philadelphia, PA Nicknames: Hazel Girl, Hazy Good with other dogs?: Yes. Good with cats? Unknown.  Will not be placed with a cat. Good with children? Unknown.  Will not be adopted to a home with very small children.  No children under about 12. Activity Preference: Would like a daily walk or two, time for zoomies, exploring the yard, naps. IQ: average Favorite Things: Being outside exploring the backyard, playing with pinecones, going for long walks and just being with her companion.  Hazel also loves to wind down after a day of walks and backyard time by spending some quality time chewing on a good bone. Good at: meeting people but she can be shy with men, meeting dogs, staying in a crate, behaving in the house, going for car rides, listening to commands. Ideal home: Hazel is a jumper and will require a 6ft fenced yard where she will get lots of exercise; Her ideal home would be one with a playful male dog and someone at home most of the day. Training Needs: Hazel is extremely well behaved for her age but may benefit from a refresher training course with her new family. Health issues: No health issues. Meet Hazel: Hazel is a shy, sweet young pup who recently arrived at ABR.  Hazel had a long trip to get to us here in Philadelphia from Georgia and everyone who met her on her trip just loved her!  She was unsure of her foster mom when she first arrived at her foster home, but after some time and space she quickly became her foster mom’s shadow. Hazel loves to receive praise and affection and loves to cuddle.  Hazel is very good on walks but is still adapting to her new suburban environment with lots of people, cars and strange noises. Her foster mom can see her confidence grow with every walk they take and Hazel is beginning to explore her surroundings. Her foster mom wants to see how she takes to hiking so more to come on those adventures! Hazel would love to have a playful brother to romp around with, have zoomie races with and cuddle with. Story
Spencer is a  3 year old Bulldog/Lab mix weighing 75 pounds .  He is housetrained.   We feel Spencer would be best in a  home where he will not be faced with frequent visitors or traffic in the home, He is a lovely companion, extremely loyal, has never shown aggression of any sort towards the current owners and their kids. Spencer is special needs because he has been diagnosed with Addison's disease (controlled with medication) and has behavioral issues.  (posted 6/19/23 R) **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience.   Adoption and transport fees: $250 April 18, 2024, 6:43 pm
