Story
Cam (Cameron, Cambucha, Comanche) came to us back in March as a 6 month old puppy from our rescue partner in Alabama. Cam quickly stole the hearts of all of us in his foster home and after a potential adoption appointment fell through and they never showed up we took it as a sign that he was going to stay forever. Unfortunately our resident dog Spud has other plans for Cam. Spud and Cam have been best friends since March and the real reason we considered keeping Cam was because of how great of friends they were and how much they looked and acted alike. About 2 months ago, Spud decided that he was no longer a fan of Cam and began to get aggressive with him. We have since been keeping them separate when no one is home and then only specific people could have them out together under a watchful eye. We also had Spud fully examined and tested to see why this sudden aggression has occurred and there were no medical reasons for it. We are having to make the tough decision to find Cam his forever home and unfortunately his perfect home is not ours. That being said we are looking for a forever home/ foster home/ foster to adopt home for Cam. Cam just turned 1 year old and he is a one of a kind dog. He definitely has a goofy personality and lots of puppy energy so he does need to go to an active home. Cam’s perfect home has another young dog for him to play with, ideally a female dog or a male dog that is not dominant at all, daily walks to keep him exercised, and a fenced in back yard would be perfect. Cam can be excited/nervous when meeting other dogs at first and it takes him about 10 minutes to understand that he doesn’t have to be afraid of them and run away with his tail between his legs. Cam was found on the side of a road in a ditch in Alabama and he had some scars so we do not know what has happened to him before so we have been working on introductions and for him to be more confident. It has been going well and we have fostered other dogs with Cam and he has been a delight. Cam loves people and is a total cuddler. Cam loves to sleep in bed with you or on a dog bed on the floor. He also loves to spend his days playing with toys and sleeping on the couch. Cam is super smart and knows sit, stay, knows how to use the doggie door to go outside, and is house trained. Cam can be crated but he does not love it and would prefer to be out in the open or gated in an area where he can’t chew anything. He loves all chew toys so the more the better. Cam has met cats in Alabama and did well but we can re-cat test him if needed. Whoever does adopt Cam is going to be a very lucky family. He is such a great dog and it does break our hearts that we are not the best home for him and he deserves to not have to split time with another dog because of something that he didn’t cause.

Story
DAISY MAE came to us after she bit her owner in the face. It was a one-time incident however the family was afraid of her after the incident. We were her last hope as an alternative to euthanasia. In our care, Daisy has befriended a couple of our volunteers and is sweet as pie. However, we don’t trust her completely, even with people she knows because she can’t control herself when she gets overstimulated. The original incident happened when they had moved into a new home and Daisy was over excited/stressed and a delivery man came to the door. Her mom attempted to put her into a crate and she resisted and jumped up alligator-style. We are committed to help Daisy even though we understand she may never find a forever home. For the present time being, we are her family and are continuing to try to help her make progress. We will accept applications from exceptional families who have dealt with similar dogs in the past successfully. Daisy needs to be an only pet and although she was fine with the children in her home, because of the bite she needs to be in an adult only home! If you would like to love Daisy from afar, please visit out website and use the PayPal link to support us in her care. www.CompAnimals.org. Thank you!May 31, 2023, 10:00 pm

Story
Trinket is my name - I'm a super sweet, laid back, and gorgeous girl - searching to be the newest apple of your eye! At my ripe old age of 7, I'm well versed in being a best friend - but you'll have to take me home to find that out for yourself! I'm a bigger gal, around 87 pounds, but don't that fool you - I'm a big, sensitive baby who wants nothing more than to get out of the shelter once and for all! I could stand to lose some weight - so let's plan to get our exercise on in the upcoming beautiful weather! My stint in a short term foster home revealed to the humans that I will follow my person around and get more playful as I get comfy. I know sit, paw and lay down! I will go the crate on my own, I didn't mind coexisting with the other dogs, and didn't have any accidents either! Overall, if you're looking for a very grateful gal to bring home - please come scoop me up!   Please let your friends know I'm searching for a home, SHARE my profile and hopefully my family will be here soon!   If you're able to offer me a FOSTER home, please fill out a foster application here: https://bit.ly/FFASfosterDog   If you're able to offer me a FOREVER home, please fill out an adoption application, or visit me during the shelter's open hours, Wednesday-Friday from 1pm-7pm, and Saturday from 12-5pm. The humans process applications on a first come, best fit basis. https://bit.ly/FFASAdoptDog   June 1, 2023, 6:21 pm

Story
Ricky Bobby here - ready to fast and furiously move on to my forever home from this loud cohousing arrangement I've found myself in. You see, I took myself for a walk, didn't make it back home, and now I'm in puppy prison waiting for a human to come be my freedom ride outta here! I think I have plenty of redeeming qualities, at about 3 years old and 70 pounds, I won't be getting much bigger! I'm also too short to really counter surf or anything crazy, so I'll be on my best behaviors! I love to go for walks and get lots of petting from the humans here, so whatdaya say we become new besties?! I'll be waiting to meet you! Story
ABOUT BIG MAC As his name would suggest, Big Mac is one big ole boy. This handsome fella is a 4 year old bulldog mix weighing roughly 75lbs. Big Mac is a total goofball who is always ready to play. He's a big fan of any toy he can get his hands on, and has been known to turn almost anything into a game. His favorites include Nyla bones and Jolly Ball toys! He sits nicely for treats and has the biggest smile you could imagine! When he's not sunbathing in our fenced fields, he is curled up in the tiniest ball on his bed. Since being with us, Biggie has improved greatly on leash and picked up on "here", "sit", and "down". He's your typical bully in a china shop with a big head and little thoughts. He can be stubborn at times but once he builds up trust with you, he's all yours! **While has made a few dog friends on walks, Big Mac will need a home as your only pet. Be sure to check back for more! In the meantime, you are welcome to submit an adoption questionnaire if interested in adoption! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog, but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
