You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Chance came to us after sitting/laying on a concrete kennel floor with a "breeder" who didn't know what to do with a puppy that couldn't use his back legs :( We were contacted and although we typically do not take large dogs we felt the need to help. We had him with 2 different vets both saying he would never walk again, even our medical director did not hold out any hope. We just knew we had to try so the Director started researching and working on his back legs and then we started using a cold laser wand and a wheel chair and within months Chance went from the chair to what we called "wonky walking" and now he races around the field!!! Chance is a typical bulldog doing what he wants and he is big so making him do anything is definitely not easy LOL. He has learned the hand signal for sit and he will do it on command because he knows he gets a treat :) He is good with most dogs but we have found he is not fond of shihtzu's. At the ranch he lives with cats coming in and out and has no interest in them. Now if they gave him a hard time I'm pretty sure it would be game on! Chance may as he gets old need to revert back to a cart so we are looking for a home with either no stairs or only 1 or 2. I do not suggest Chance for small children he is WAY to rambuncious and for some reason very fixated on them. Yoyoma's adoption fee has been fully covered by a generous supporter, and OPH is including six virtual training sessions with a certified trainer during the first 60 days to help set you both up for success! Yoyoma is 9 years old and has been in foster care for awhile, because she wants to be your one and only loyal companion. She would like to take naps and watch TV with you. When it's time to exercise, playing ball is the activity of choice in a fenced yard, the higher the better. She'd like to take walks on a leash, but doesn't mind staying close to home. Sniffing to discover new smells rather than long walks is just fine with her. She would rather be with you than in large crowds as she is cautious with strangers, but once she gets to know them in familiar surroundings, she is ready for belly rubs. She has played with the fosters larger dogs but prefers to be the only dog in your family. The fosters grandchildren have played ball with her and she likes how they tell her to sit first then to retrieve. Rules and boundaries help her to feel comfortable. My grandmother died a few years ago and so my uncle gave my grandfather a dog to keep him company. A dog that he did not ask for nor want. My grandfather has his own heath issues so he could not care for this dog. We took Otis in to avoid him going to a shelter. We can not give him the attention and care he need however amongst some other life changes that will be happening. He was previously found as a stray roaming Honey Brook, PA. Otis is a couch potato as he is an elderly dog. He is fine around cats as I have 5 and doesn’t have an issue with them. He also is fine around other dogs although he hasn’t been around a lot of other dogs. He does have chronic ear infections and a corkscrew tail that is susceptible to infection. He needs to be chemically restrained when going to the vet as he will try to snap and bite at you, especially if you’re trying to clean his ears. I’m hoping to find him and home that can and is able to provide him the care he needs during his golden years.

Rainy is a spunky girl waiting for her forever home. She really is a puppy at heart despite her size. Since being in foster care she has learned to sit and has taken to living the dog life. Rainy is house trained and does great in her crate if unattended. She is a cuddle bug through and through, most of which is on your lap - this is a non-negotiable for her. She loves hiking and running outside however her favorite spot is next to you. Rainy has her daily zooms, normally right before and after eating, each meal. PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. Charlie is the sweetest little snuggle bug at only 8 months old and about 30 pounds. When we first met Charlie, he was skin and bones but he's very healthy now. His favorite thing is meal time and he dances around his food bowl with excitement and joy! He's discovered bones, which he loves, but he loves stuffed toys more than anything else. He would be great with kids but ultimately he's looking for a best friend that he can follow around with a big happy smile. His favorite things are soft blankets, stuffy toys, and having a full tummy. We do not know his breed, American Bulldog mix is a guess. He is neutered, UTD on vaccines, on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, and microchipped. Charlie is located in Arkansas. He can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays. Meet Red: Red is about a 2 year old (as of December 2025) boxer / black mouth cur mix (best guess) that weighs about 50 pounds. Red was found on the streets in rural Mississippi with her litter of puppies. The puppies have all been adopted and now it’s her turn. Red is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Red is a very friendly dog. Red is sweet and nice to have around. Red gets along great with other dogs, but we do not recommend that she live with cats. Red is currently house trained to a doggie door and may need some patience while she transitions to another method. We would love for Red to have a home with a fenced in yard so she can run and play freely. Red is up to date on her shots and spayed. Red had been heartworm positive, but has completed treatments and is good to go!
