Story
Buddy is about 6 years old and a boxer/pit mix short haired brindle color. He is neutered and house trained. He is a very smart and goofy dog who loves to cuddle with you on the couch. He loves blankets, being chased for play, riding in trucks and boats. He loves fetch, wearing clothes and just being around people. He is very aware of people's emotions and will comfort you if you are crying. He is a very friendly dog to adults and he mostly likes to sniff you, kiss you and sneeze in excitement. He is not kid or dog friendly. He knows sit, lay down, stay, and balancing treats on his nose and flipping them into his mouth. He would do best with a couple or one person who is a home body. He does well in a kennel and if there are loud noises prefers to hide in his kennel. We have a fold up kennel, blankets, a toy, dishes, (2) leashes, a "in training" vest and a muzzle to go with him.

Story
Truffle is a 5 year old sweet and loving pit/hound mix. Originally from California, she love to take long sun baths and enjoy the fresh air. She loves her daily walks and  has several spurts throughout the day where she loves to play and run around. However, most of the day, you’ll find her napping and snuggled up next to you.  Truffle is looking for an experienced owner who can continue to help her with separation anxiety and dog reactivity, though she's already come a long way! When introduced properly she can be comfortable around other dogs. Truffle is looking for a single dog household. She is also great around kids for short periods of time. She's also working on crate training, which is going well! She loves to train and is food motivated! Truffle will thrive in a loving and nurturing home that has the structure and resources to make her feel safe and become more confident!

Story
Hi there! My name is Sandy! I was found as a stray and unfortunately was never claimed. I weigh 44 lbs. My friend, Samson, and I came to MCAC as a transfer from another rescue! Samson has since been adopted. I’m ready for to be part of a forever family. While being at MCAC, the great volunteers have taught me basic commands. Turns out I’m a quick learner! I’m eager to learn, especially if you have good treats! Running around exercising is one of my favorite things to do! It’s also because of this that I would need a fenced in yard to make me happy. I absolutely LOVE making new dog-friends! There has not been a dog-friend I haven’t gotten along with. I have also been around kids as young as 10 years old and do well with them. MCAC has a feral cat colony that loves getting in our yard, I help protect our yard by keeping them out. It’s because of this I would do best without a home with cats. You know the saying “Cats drool and Dogs rule!” LOL. During my veterinary exam at MCAC, it was discovered that I was heartworm positive. This is an easily preventable disease but can be deadly if left untreated. Fortunately, the nice people here have had me treated for this and I am now as good as new!I`m up to date on my vaccines, however I will need to see my new veterinarian within 2 weeks of my adoption to ensure that I stay healthy and keep on a regular vaccination schedule. If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm. To help speed up the application process, it is recommended that you complete the online application form found at the link below.https://animalcontrol.macombgov.org/AnimalControl-AdoptionApplicationMy adoption fee is SPONSORED.

Hi there! My name is Roxy! I’m approximately 3 years old and weigh 50lbs. I was a found as a stray and sadly I was never reclaimed. Unfortunate for my previous parents, but fortune for my future Mom & dad! I’m ready to restart my life with a forever family!Happy, outgoing, friendly, energetic are just a few to describe my personality! I love to run around in the fenced in yard here and play with my dog-friends. The volunteers here have been great! They’ve been helping me learn my manners and basic commands… especially with tasty treats! Long walks are always a favorite of mine, it helps me burn energy! I have not been around cats since being in the shelter so a slow introduction would need to be completed to ensure a happy interaction. We have volunteers as young as 10 years old and I do well with them. Story
Heyyyyy! My name is Rhea! I’m approximately 1 ½ years old and weigh 45 lbs. Like MANY of my friends at Macomb County Animal Control, I was found as a stray and my parents never came to reclaim me. It’s heartbreaking, but all of us are happy thanks to the MCAC family! While I am well cared for here, I would prefer to be in a home with a family. Suppppper friendly with a ton of energy sums me up! I can always be seen wearing a smile on my face! I absolutely love to run around in the fenced in yard here and play with my dog-friends. It’s also because of this that I would do best with a fenced in yard to help burn energy off. I love love love toys and nylabones! Nylabones help me chew the time away when I’m bored. The volunteers here have been great! They’ve been helping me learn my manners and basic commands. I will need to more positive obedience training. I get very excited when it comes to playtime, and I tend to forget my manners and I can get quite mouthy. It’s because of this I would do best with older children who understand I don’t mean them any harm when I play. While I learn to stop that behavior of course. I love to play with other dogs that have the same energy level as me, but please keep toys out of the picture while we`re playing, as I can become a little jealous and not want to share. Macomb County Animal Control has a feral cat colony they care for, I like protecting our play yards by keeping them out of it, LOL! I would do best without a home with no cats around.I`m up to date on my vaccines, however I will need to see my new veterinarian within 2 weeks of my adoption to ensure that I stay healthy and keep on a regular vaccination schedule. If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm. Story
Hi there, my name is Hugo! I`m approximately a year old and weigh about 49lbs. I was found tied to a stop sign. I know, it’s awful! I was so scared and confused. I still don’t understand what I did wrong to make my previous parent hate me enough to leave me like that, alone and defenseless. Whatever, it’s their loss and hopefully my future parent’s gain!Despite my terribly sad past, I’m always super happy and playful! Sometimes I get so carried away with play that I forget my manners and jump up on people. I don’t mean too, I’m just so excited that other people love me! I know I could use positive obedience training to help me. I’m eager to learn and know basic commands like sit and shake! The volunteers say I’m a B average student. I may eventually get to an A+ student if I can stop with my happy feet, LOL. I walk well on the leash and love long walks. I like making new dog-friends; however, I can be overzealous in playing. I would do best with dogs my level of energy. Because I can be jumpy occasionally, I would do best in a home with kids who understand I don’t mean to knock them over…occasionally. We have volunteers as young as 10 years old and I do well with them. I have not been around cats since being in the shelter. A slow introduction over several days is recommended. I`m up to date on my vaccines, however I will need to see my new veterinarian within 2 weeks of my adoption to ensure that I stay healthy and keep on a regular vaccination schedule. If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.
