Gizmo was as sad as any dog we have brought into rescue when he came. Hewas at our vet clinic for weeks and several times we weren’t sure he would pullthrough, took him almost a week to raise his head when it was time to interact;and a couple of weeks before he would make eye contact. Someone had chopped his ears off and he presented as a bait dog, emaciated, scarred and emotionally shut down.Hard to believe he’s the same loving, outgoing dog he is today. Attention andfood are his favorite two things. He gets along w/most of the other dogs in hisfoster home except when it’s time for attention and then he wants it all forhimself. He has regained his appetite for food and for fun – he loves to be part ofwhatever is going on with his family.Gizmo is crate trained although he’s not a fan of the crate and he has goodhouse manners but if he has to go he usually needs to go right away so hisfamily will need to be aware when he’s asking to go out.He would be OK in a home with another dog as long as they get along initially buthe has met a couple of guys he just doesn’t like. He would be fine as an onlyfurkid and enjoy having his humans all to himself.Gizmo is on an anti-inflammatory and thyroid medication full time to keep hishealthy and active. He’s great about taking his meds and neither is veryexpensive. He’s active, healthy, and ready for his forever home. This guy willgive back all the love and devotion any dog could possibly bring to their home.

Meet Harmonica, Harmonica ended up at Mesquite Animal Services as a stray with a dis-located left hip, this adorable and sweet girl was in a fix and needed some help. The wonderful team at Mesquite provided vet care but could not provide FHO surgery so then reached out to rescue to help this cutie pie get her surgery and recover in a warm loving foster home. Her foster mom saw her worried face and knew she had to help. Harmonica is a stunning white and brown Pitbull Terrier mix that is 1 year old and weighs 32 pounds. She is a sweet, affectionate, and playful girl that gets along with everyone, kids included, loves other dogs, and is nice to cats. Harmonica is looking for a loving family that can provide lots of snuggles and cuddles and some limited exercise and crate rest for her hip/leg to recover. The leg is non weight bearing but it doesn’t slow her down so she needs someone to lovingly monitor her activity and make sure she gets plenty of rest too! Nick loves humans with his whole heart, has a somewhat obessive relationship with balls and a strong dislike of cats. He has healed physically from his past and continues to blossom in other aspects of life. He is so sweet and LOVES cuddles. Nick is a Velcro baby to his "person" and loves all humans in general. Jiggy's owners left her behind when they moved. Jiggy stayed loyal to her owners by staying on the property in case they came back; unfortunately she was hit by a car one day while she ventured out looking for food. Due to lack of proper care after her accident, her spine grew crooked causing her to be incontinent (meaning she doesn't have full control of her bladder or defecation). Stallone, a big lug with a smile that lights up a room. Another pup left to starve, abandoned on the streets in South Texas. It's a dumping ground littered with dogs that no one wants or even notices. Stallone is a sweet boy. He just loves people and other dogs so much, he cant help but be overexcited when out on walks. It can be frustrating for Stallone when he sees all these potential dog friends, but the pesky leash is preventing him from unleashing his social butterfly. We are helping Stallone to make calmer choices, and if he makes the best good choices we might actually let him say hello! He is working on his leash manners and has come along way. Stallone working on his 'adopt me' smile...it also doubles as his 'gimme all the cookies' face. We can't even train with this super smart boy without smiling along with him. He is a big ol lovebug who just wants to cuddle. His intake pictures were worse than the cold dark photo received in the dog catcher truck asking for help. He was worn and weathered, he was given a blanket while he waited for his ride to Freedom, he took it and made it a bed as if it was his first nice thing he had in a while. All shelters have a mandatory stray hold. The shelter waived that due to his medical condition. He clearly had no care at all and NO-ONE was missing him. He was just a STRAY; he belongs to no-one he just wandered the streets for survival! He had a large tumor on his testicles, his nails were long, he was bald, skinny, and had deep wounds. Chanel is just 6 years old; unfortunately we do not know her history except that she found herself in an overcrowded kill shelter when they were at MAXIMUM capacity. She was a shelter favorite however she was a bit timid at the shelter and did not show very well and when the list was created for the dogs to be euthanized she found herself on it for no other reason then being scared. She warms up quickly and needs a loving foster or family that will give her the security she needs to trust again.
