Story
First off this guy is the perfect dog for a family with no other pets! He is a super cuddle bug! Just loves to be around people and loves kids! He is 1.5 years old pitbull. I got him from an animal shelter that said he was good with other animals and found out he isn't. He gets very dominate around other male dogs to the point he will attack if the other doesn't submit. Other than that he is an amazing fun enteritic guy super goof ball!

Story
Esco is a purebred American Bully and was gifted to us as an 8 week old puppy. He is currently 2 years old. He is playful, energetic but also enjoys to relax and sunbathe. Esco is an indoor dog so we are looking for a home that would also have him as an indoor dog. He is good with older kids but needs to be supervised around smaller kids as he is a large dog who is not aware of his size. A home with no other pets or pets that are around his size would suit him best and he would enjoy a home with a backyard.

Story
Diana has very interesting grayish brown coloring and what looks like half of a tail. She is unique in that way! She is a four-year-old 63 pound terrier pit that originally came from Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/21 as a stray. She was adopted two months later. Her owners failed to keep her secure and she showed up at the shelter two times in 2022. Both times her owners reclaimed her. On 6/18 this year she came in as a stray. This time her owners are ignoring calls from the shelter so she is now available for adoption. When she was out in the yard, she spent a lot of time looking out the gate. She looked very sad. I suspect she was looking for her owners! She also had drool indicating she had a nervous stomach. Even though she's super sweet she obviously has not acclimated to the shelter yet. Who can blame her? She sits for treats and takes them gently. She's highly motivated by treats and kept sitting in anticipation of a treat reward. She also chased a ball but did not retrieve it. She stayed close, looking up at me with adoring eyes. At the end of the session, she relaxed a little and became more animated. Diana is gentle, friendly, and well-behaved. She has a semi-strong pull on the leash. She did her business as soon as she got into the yard and had kept her kennel clean. She wagged her tail meeting smaller dogs, but when she met some bigger ones the fur went up on her back. We always suggest if you have another dog to ask the shelter to do a dog test. She's already spayed! She needs owners this time that will care enough about her to make sure that she's secure in her surroundings. She would love nothing better than to snuggle up with you on the couch in the evenings during family time.

Story
Meet Echo! He is a 2yr old neutered male American Pitbull mix that weighs 49lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 7/27 as a stray. Echo was a stray at the shelter in 2022 originally, and he was so excited when he was adopted on 5/23 of this year. Yet two months later he is back at the shelter and his owners did not reclaim him. Echo is an active energetic pup that loves to run through the shelter yard chasing balls. Yet he found his favorite place while out in the yard....the toy box! He will jump right in, sort through all the toys to find just the right one. He will entertain himself with the toys and is always a joy to watch. Echo is a very active boy that would love to have an active lifestyle with his own loving family. He does jump when he is excited so continued training would be best. Chasing balls/toys are great, but taking him for a jog, long walks or a hike, he would so enjoy that. He is a very playful and fun loving boy, so having a secured backyard would be great! He loves everyone he meets. He knows the sit command, walks well on a leash, yet can pull with excitement at times, and takes treats gently. He walks past all the other dogs barking at him in the shelter, so if there will be another dog in the home, please ask the shelter for a dog test. He is a happy boy that loves to be petted and loved on too! If you are looking for a running/walking partner Echo is your guy! Come meet him!

Story
Meet Bernard, a mixed breed fellow with an attractive brindle coat that was picked up by one of our officers and taken to the Mesquite Animal Shelter along with his sibling Bosco as strays on 11/17. Bernard weighs 62 pounds and is approx 3 years old. It was difficult to get pics and a video because his overwhelming passion was to explore the yard. And also, this may have been the first time he has been outside since arriving and was just enjoying the great outdoors. He was a-okay with being petted and loved on. He likes treats but isn't especially motivated by them. He pottied in the yard and then went directly to the door perhaps indicating that he is accustomed to going to the potty outside and then going right back inside. He seems to have been well-cared for. Bernard walks nicely on a leash. He has a moderate energy level.

Story
I have named this adorable boy Bandit for obvious reasons! Bandit was picked up by one of our officers as a stray on 12/1 and brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter. He weighs 45 pounds and is approximately two years old. It's those cute floppy standup ears and his "mask" that make him a stand out. Bandit walks quite nicely on a leash. He is a bit timid and uneasy in the shelter environment, and yet that doesn't keep him from being friendly and willing to receive loving attention from staff and volunteers. He does not seem to know any commands. He is mildly interested in toys and balls, and is very happy to sit for treats which he takes nicely. He has a low key personality, but is active and alert.

Story
Meet Champ! He is a 3 yr old neutered male Pitbull mix that weighs 54lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 1/2 as a stray. Since he has been at the shelter he has continued to show his gentle loving kind personality. He has a low key activity level as he enjoys walking through the shelter yard. When you look into his stunning golden brown eyes, you can see how much love he has to give. He enjoys being petted and loved on. He walks great on a leash and takes treats gently. When he first came into the shelter he weighed 58lbs, but as he watches other dogs being adopted, you can understand why his hope is fading. Champ would make a great family companion and we hope that someone will see our plea and go spend time with him. You will understand why we are so taken with this wonderful boy. If you do have another dog in the family please be sure to ask the shelter for a dog test to make sure they will be compatible. His dream is to have his own secured backyard, but to live indoors where he can cuddle close with his human companions or take long naps on his dog bed. Come meet Champ, help him out of the shelter and to his loving home he deserves!

Story
Meet Tess, a cutesy American Pit Bull mix that arrived as a stray on 1/29 at the Mesquite Animal Shelter. She weighs 50 pounds and is approximately 1 1/2 years old. This high-spirited girl has so much spunk and personality. She did zoomies around the yard and loved playing with a tennis ball. She rolled around in the grass with abandon and thoroughly enjoyed playing outside on the beautiful sunny day. There is not a bit of shy or timid about her. She is confident and outgoing, and would be a wonderful pet for a person or family who is active. She would undoubtedly love to be played with, exercised, given enrichment, and included inside with her people in the family circle. She walks well on a leash. She sits for treats and takes him gently. She's a playful, sweet, friendly girl needing assistance in finding her perfect forever home, so will you please help her?

Story
Newman was born on January 1st, 2021 and is now 3 years old. He is a very sweet and loyal partner. Newman loves to snuggle and loves treats. He will follow you around wherever you go, but he also loves to just chill in his bed. He isn’t big on toys, he prefers to get scratches. Newman is a very sweet dog but unfortunately he does not like our senior male dog. He is crate trained. Newman gets along with our female dogs perfectly fine! So he may be okay in a home with a female companion or as an only dog!
