Name: GemmaSpecies: DogBreed: Pitbull Husky MixAge: 6 years oldBio:Meet Gemma, a unique and beautiful Pitbull Husky mix with a personality as striking as her appearance. At 6 years old, Gemma is a mature and experienced companion looking for a special home that can provide her with the understanding and care she needs.Gemma is an independent and loyal dog who forms deep bonds with the people she knows and trusts. While she may be cautious around strangers, once she warms up to you, she'll shower you with love and affection. Gemma's adopter should be patient and willing to invest time in building a strong bond with her.Due to her previous experiences, Gemma is not comfortable around children and is not suitable for a home with young kids. Additionally, she does not get along well with other dogs or cats, so a pet-free environment would be ideal for her.Gemma enjoys going for walks and exploring the world around her. Daily exercise and mental stimulation are important for her overall well-being. She is known to have some anxiety issues, so a calm and stable home environment with a consistent routine will help her feel secure and content. Her housetraining is a work in progress, but with patient and consistent training from her adopter, Gemma is eager to learn and improve her skills. Positive reinforcement and reward-based training methods will be most effective for her.One of Gemma's favorite activities is going for car rides. She finds comfort in the car and enjoys the sights and sounds of the outside world passing by.To ensure Gemma's continued growth and well-being, an experienced adopter who understands her breed mix and has knowledge of working with dogs with behavioral challenges would be the best match for her. A calm and structured home environment with a dedicated and patient adopter will provide Gemma with the love, support, and guidance she needs to thrive. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a loyal and unique companion, Gemma is waiting to meet you. Together, you can embark on a journey of trust, love, and friendship that will last a lifetime.

Tucker has a big heart and is a protector at his core. Tucker loves to play...but plays rough! Therefore, we recommend a home without kids or cats. He can be hot and cold with other dogs, so it's probably best he be the solo dog also. Tucker absolutely adores women and would love the opportunity to be her knight in shining armor. If you're looking to give this guy a second chance, he's waiting for you and the chance to love again!Ask about him today

Story
Hello! Slim Jim here, your friendly local PE CESSWI. That stands for Professional Engineer, Certified Erosion, Sediment, and Stormwater Inspector. I'm always on the job, making sure your neighborhood stormwater conveyance structures and systems are in top-notch, working order. It's a very serious job! I have to stop at each drain for a thorough inspection and condition rating.        In my spare time, I enjoy relaxing walks (so I can poop) and a tasty chew. I'm smart guy and already know several commands like sit, shake, and down. I learn new things real quick! I'm a bit of a 'lean-er' too, and am coming around to a good belly rub.        I just busted out of a hard stint at animal control after being picked up as a stray, so my nerves are a bit frazzled. I'm working hard on decompressing and brushing up on my manners. My ideal family would have a secure fence or be committed to only taking me out on a leash with my harness. (I do walk very nicely on the leash, but hold on for my safety!) And teaching me new things to help boost my confidence!        I do not like the little sacks of meow (cats) and right now am not sure about other dogs. Maybe I will change my mind after a good neutering- time will tell.         Now folks, fill out that adoption application form to set up an appointment with me. I even cone with a free private training session to help set me up for success With my new family! And remember, don't dump anything down those stormwater grates- they drain to your local waterways!        Approximate DOB: 2021 Foster Home Location: Madison    If you are interested in adopting one of our wonderful dogs, you can apply on our website: https://forms.gle/MGakwmFh92UiK9iM6     Please allow several days for us to process your application. We are a small, all-volunteer group and we are doing our best to work quickly! After the application is processed we will make arrangements for you to meet the dog that interest you. All of our dogs are raised in our homes and live with us until they are adopted. They live with us as part of our families so we know them very well and we can help you find your perfect dog!     Our adoption fees:  Adults (up to 7 years): $275 Seniors (8 years and up): $200     All dogs are spayed or neutered, dewormed, vaccinated for rabies, bordatella and distemper, tested for heartworm and microchipped.September 30, 2023, 2:41 pm

Story
Meet Titus! Howdy y'all, I'm Titus, and I come to you from Alabama, where I was no longer wanted. As a senior, and a big boy that weighs 70 pounds, when I ended up in the shelter this last time, I was bound to end up on the "euth list", and that's exactly what happened. You see, no one wants an old, worn-out dog with some allergies and skin issues down there. Not a single person. I'm so good with dogs, well, except I think that puppy foster brother needs to be told to CALM DOWN! I just make sure to try to avoid him. Ooooooohhhh weeee! That boy is too much! I also do fine with kitties and love my humans. All of the humans, big or small. I always loved all of my humans in the south and was such a good boy for them. I always go potty outside, but I'm not a fan of those early morning trips outside. Listen, an old guy needs his beauty rest! Whenever you can't find me, I'll surely be in the quietest room of the house taking a snooze. I'm not an overly affectionate boy, though I will lay next to you on the couch. And boy, do I love some good butt scratches, and I'll even do a dance for you to show you how good it feels! Have you ever heard of "Nala Stomps"? It's kind of like her dance, except it's my own version. I'm really just looking for a quiet, lower key home that isn't going to give up on me. I need my forever home. Once and for all. I'll gladly show you my devotion to you! *Titus is being fostered in the Rhinelander area. Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Adult (approximately 2-7 years) American Pit Bull Terrier mix Spayed female, 50 lbs. Sweet, affectionate, gentle Loves attention Knows the commands for sit and paw **Must be the only animal in her home Approved for families with respectful children of all ages Adoption fee already paid Currently in a foster home but it's easy to make an appointment to meet her   Here's what Shania's current foster mom has to say about this great dog! "I am currently fostering Shania and am an HSJC staff member who has worked with her since she arrived at the shelter. She is the definition of a love bug and just wants to be loved! She adores humans and gives everyone hugs and kisses, and during cuddle time she likes to wrap her leg around you for extra love. Shania is fully potty trained and is an amazing listener. She knows the commands for sit, down, paw, and a sit/stay with a free command. She is incredibly intelligent and eager to learn new tricks! Shania is always looking to please her person and will follow you everywhere and wait patiently. She is an amazing emotional support buddy who always knows how to pick you up when you're feeling down. She takes treats very gently and is a complete sweetheart to everyone we see on walks. She wants all the rubs so she has to say hi to anyone we meet. Kids love Shania and vice versa, and she's very loving and well mannered with children. She is honestly a very mellow girl who has small bursts of energy but primarily enjoys lots of snuggling and relaxing. She had a rough past life but is so forgiving! She loves belly rubs and any toys that squeak. I have a female dog named Honey who was very much like Shania and was listed as needing to be the only dog in her home. With time and structure Honey now has a 'brother' who she loves. Anything is possible with time time, patience, and training. If I didn't have two dogs myself Shania would never return to the shelter. My Honey is my soul dog and I truly believe Shania will be that for someone. If you're looking for one animal to love forever who will love you unconditionally, please come and meet Shania!"   From Shania's 1st foster mom: "I have been fostering Shania for several weeks and she is a joy to have around! I take her to work with me every day and she conducts herself with decorum in an office environment. She is quiet and likes to relax. She alerts when someone comes to the door but is respectful of customers who come in. Shania is calm and well behaved if I need to leave her alone for a while. She is usually snoozing when I return. She walks politely on a leash and enjoys leisurely strolls so she can stretch out and roll in the grass. In her spare time, Shania has fun working on food puzzles with treats hidden in them to make it worth her while." :) From Shania herself: "I'm a super sweet girl who was found as a "stray" at the Walmart in Jefferson. Due to the appearance of my nipples and how much I smelled when I came to the shelter, I may have been used for breeding and was kept in a crate with my own urine and feces. :(   The staff here quickly fell in love with me because I'm incredibly affectionate, very gentle, and love to give kisses. I'm an attention seeker who's sweet as pie and I'll happily follow you everywhere or curl up with you on the couch. I'm very treat motivated and know the commands for sit and paw, and I'm excited to learn more! I've already learned the potty schedule at the shelter and I'm really enjoying being spoiled here. I love stuffed toys and safe chews/bones, but my number one love is people. I'm approved for families with respectful children and can't wait to spend my life with someone who really loves and cares about me! *NOTE: I must be the only animal in my home and thanks to a generous sponsor my adoption fee has already been paid!"October 1, 2023, 11:04 am

Story
Spayed female Pit Bull mix 5 years old, 40 lbs Medium/high energy level Friendly, mellow, gentle Loves most other dogs Approved for families with respectful children of all ages I'm a very sweet girl with a mellow and calm personality. I have a gentle and docile demeanor and am extremely friendly with people and most other dogs. In fact, I LOVE most other dogs and am great at adjusting my play style to suit other pups. I know the command for sit and I have really nice leash manners. I have a good amount of energy and need daily exercise, but I like to spend an equal amount of time being a couch potato. I came from an overcrowded shelter down south and am very happy about finding my forever home in Wisconsin. I'm approved for respectful kids of all ages and will be an amazing companion and family member for my adopter! The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.October 1, 2023, 11:04 am

Story
Neutered male mixed breed puppy Sweet, energetic, playful Happy personality Loves attention and affection Approved for families with respectful children of all ages I'm a super sweet boy with lots of puppy energy. I came to the shelter as a stray with my sister Kanga, but our owner never came to claim us so I find myself in need of a loving home. I am very playful and have a happy and goofy attitude. I am very affectionate, crave attention, and love to please people. I get along great with most other dogs and would happily live with another pup or two. I love toys (especially stuffed ones) and know the command for sit - and I'd love to learn more! I will benefit from attending puppy classes so I can learn great manners and channel my energy in positive ways. I'll also need help with potty training based on positive reinforcement (praise and treats) and never punishment. If you're searching for a sweet love bug of a pup, we could be an amazing match!
