Story
Leo is just the happiest dude with the cutest ears! He loves his people.. and loves to do the little pitty piggy roll into them he's about 1-2yo.. 40# and looking for a house who loves happy hippo energy!! Oklahoma has a pretty cool program to help with their shelter dogs.. it is called "Frieds For Folks" ... where prisoners get the opportunity to be closely watched and learn how to train dogs with positive reinforcement.. so when we get a pup who needs some extra work.. or the shelter is just too full.. we partner with them to help not only set the dogs up for success, but also give prisoners the opportunity to learn and work with dogs... Lea was one of the pups who went through the program.. and here is what his person had to say.. "He is: Leo!! Dear Future Forever Family, Our goal is to help find dogs like Lea their forever home. By potty training, teaching basic obedience, and having fun too!!! Leo is a Black and White Terrier mix with a big heart. On his right side just plain as day! He is young, full of energy, very smart, and eager to learn. Like any young male potty training was a challenge but we got there! Leo has learned his commands very well but distractions can be challenging. He has learned to: Heel, Sit, Down, Touch (your palm with his nose), Look (you in the eye), Place (sit on his mat), Bed (on with all 4 feet), Stay, Wait (at a door or to eat when fed), Off (staying off people or an object, still working on it), Back-up (stop and tell him back-up when he pulls on the leash). He loves to chase his ball, he just don't like to drop it but is working on it, also loves tug-o-war with his rope and is learning to catch too. He will be a great addition to your family, will continue to learn, play and love you and your family for many years to come. I feel you will feel as lucky to get Leo as he will be to get you! Thank you for caring and becoming this great pups Forever Family! P.S. - `Also helpful for going to the vet is the command "Chin", holding your hand out and giving the command he will rest his chin in it. He also gets in his crate when asked and gets a treat when he does." ##2001991##

Story
Hi there, my name is Slim Jim. Or sometimes it's Bubba. Or Bubby. Or Slimbo. Or Rambo. I have a lot of names. My foster family says I have a big heart, big smarts, and big farts!  I have a big heart because I love lots of stuff, like making new human friends and CAR RIDES. Seriously I have no sense of stranger danger and will try to jump in anyone's car for a ride. I love a good chew treat and cheeseburgers. I love my blankie and sleeping all snuggled up in my crate, so will you please tuck me in every night? I love snuggles and giving kisses, but maybe bigger kids would be best for me because I REALLY get into the snuggles and don't want to accidentally knock a tiny human down. I do NOT love the cold or rainy weather, but I love dressing up in my sweaters and jackets to stay warm! I love butt scratches, tummy rubs, all kinds of adventures, and learning new things.    Speaking of learning new things, I have big smarts in this big noggin of mine! I pick up on new tricks super fast and already know how to sit, lay down, shake, wait, back (to sit in the back seat of the car), cross (the street), and turn left (I'm working on 'right'). I am great at food puzzles, and especially love my snuffle mat. I am crate trained and super polite on my leash when we're out for walks. I even know how to use agility equipment and am learning how to use a doggy treadmill. My recent record is 13 MPH!   My big farts are not so bad if I use a puzzle feeder, because then I don't eat so fast. It's this stubby, snorty nose of mine, I can't help but take in extra air.   There are a few things I don't love, mostly kitties (I want to eat them) and other dogs (they scare me). I take a cheap, daily anxiety medication (cost is under $10/mo) which helps me be more comfortable and my foster family has done a TON of training with me. They are sponsoring a private training session for whoever adopts me, to set me up for success in my new home!    Also, because I have such big smarts I take some things as a personal challenge. Crates and fences, for example. I think they are puzzles to be solved! I need a beefier crate than most dogs and a solid plan to keep me in the yard if I'm off-leash, because if that fence isn't solid like Mount Everest I am outtie! But I don't chew on or damage things in the house, don't worry about that.    I've been waiting for a home of my very own for far too long! So if you're looking for a Very Good Boy who you can have a lot of fun with, please reach out and ask for me, Slim Jim aka Bubba aka Bubby aka Slimbo aka Rambo.         Approximate DOB: 2021 Foster Home Location: Madison    If you are interested in adopting one of our wonderful dogs, you can apply on our website: https://forms.gle/MGakwmFh92UiK9iM6     Please allow several days for us to process your application. Jessie is being fostered in FL Jessie is doing great! He continues to be very sweet and gentle, and whenever his foster mom walks him, the neighborhood children love to come over and pet him. And if he hears people talking, he'll come over to say hello! Jessie also thinks he's part cat! His foster mom says he makes a noise like he's purring when she pets him. :) Please fill out an adoption application if you are interested in Jessie. *Reduced adoption fee! Participating in our Bissell Empty the Shelter adoption event Julien is an absolute dreamboat! Not only is he a slam-dunk in the looks department, he's mastered the "puppy eyes" and just sucks you in with one look. Julien is sweet as can be, just melting in your hands and showering you with kisses. This kid is a master snuggler, and his tail never stops wagging. Although Julien does totally fine with other dogs when a barrier such as a fence or kennel door is involved, he would prefer not to share your attention and be the only dog in his forever home. Julien came to us with many scars on his face and legs, so we're assuming he may have been attacked in the past and understandably feels a bit nervous around other dogs. Julien has spent some time in our staff offices, as he's a favorite around the shelter. He loves to help with office duties and make sure everyone stays on task. After a few minutes of exploring, Julien settles in and lays on his bed all stretched relaxing. Julien is one fantastic pup, that's for sure! All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines.
