Story
Hello! Slim Jim here, your friendly local PE CESSWI. That stands for Professional Engineer, Certified Erosion, Sediment, and Stormwater Inspector. I'm always on the job, making sure your neighborhood stormwater conveyance structures and systems are in top-notch, working order. It's a very serious job! I have to stop at each drain for a thorough inspection and condition rating.        In my spare time, I enjoy relaxing walks (so I can poop) and a tasty chew. I'm smart guy and already know several commands like sit, shake, and down. I learn new things real quick! I'm a bit of a 'lean-er' too, and am coming around to a good belly rub.        I just busted out of a hard stint at animal control after being picked up as a stray, so my nerves are a bit frazzled. I'm working hard on decompressing and brushing up on my manners. My ideal family would have a secure fence or be committed to only taking me out on a leash with my harness. (I do walk very nicely on the leash, but hold on for my safety!) And teaching me new things to help boost my confidence!        I do not like the little sacks of meow (cats) and right now am not sure about other dogs. Maybe I will change my mind after a good neutering- time will tell.         Now folks, fill out that adoption application form to set up an appointment with me. I even cone with a free private training session to help set me up for success With my new family! And remember, don't dump anything down those stormwater grates- they drain to your local waterways!        Approximate DOB: 2021 Foster Home Location: Madison    If you are interested in adopting one of our wonderful dogs, you can apply on our website: https://forms.gle/MGakwmFh92UiK9iM6     Please allow several days for us to process your application. We are a small, all-volunteer group and we are doing our best to work quickly! After the application is processed we will make arrangements for you to meet the dog that interest you. All of our dogs are raised in our homes and live with us until they are adopted. They live with us as part of our families so we know them very well and we can help you find your perfect dog!     Our adoption fees:  Adults (up to 7 years): $275 Seniors (8 years and up): $200     All dogs are spayed or neutered, dewormed, vaccinated for rabies, bordatella and distemper, tested for heartworm and microchipped.September 24, 2023, 11:46 am

Story
Meet Titus! Howdy y'all, I'm Titus, and I come to you from Alabama, where I was no longer wanted. As a senior, and a big boy that weighs 70 pounds, when I ended up in the shelter this last time, I was bound to end up on the "euth list", and that's exactly what happened. You see, no one wants an old, worn-out dog with some allergies and skin issues down there. Not a single person. I'm so good with dogs, well, except I think that puppy foster brother needs to be told to CALM DOWN! I just make sure to try to avoid him. Ooooooohhhh weeee! That boy is too much! I also do fine with kitties and love my humans. All of the humans, big or small. I always loved all of my humans in the south and was such a good boy for them. I always go potty outside, but I'm not a fan of those early morning trips outside. Listen, an old guy needs his beauty rest! Whenever you can't find me, I'll surely be in the quietest room of the house taking a snooze. I'm not an overly affectionate boy, though I will lay next to you on the couch. And boy, do I love some good butt scratches, and I'll even do a dance for you to show you how good it feels! Have you ever heard of "Nala Stomps"? It's kind of like her dance, except it's my own version. I'm really just looking for a quiet, lower key home that isn't going to give up on me. I need my forever home. Once and for all. I'll gladly show you my devotion to you! *Titus is being fostered in the Rhinelander area. Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Story
Adult (approximately 2-7 years) American Pit Bull Terrier mix Spayed female, 50 lbs. Sweet, affectionate, gentle Loves attention Knows the commands for sit and paw Must be the only animal in her home Approved for families with respectful children of all ages Adoption fee already paid To Shania's future parent(s) from her foster mom: I have been fostering Shania for several weeks and she is a joy to have around! I take her to work with me every day and she conducts herself with decorum in an office environment. She is quiet and likes to relax. She alerts when someone comes to the door but is respectful of customers who come in. Shania is calm and well behaved if I need to leave her alone for a while. She is usually snoozing when I return. She walks politely on a leash and enjoys leisurely strolls so she can stretch out and roll in the grass. In her spare time, Shania has fun working on food puzzles with treats hidden in them to make it worth her while. :) I'm a super sweet girl who was found as a "stray" at the Walmart in Jefferson. Due to the appearance of my nipples and how much I smelled when I came to the shelter, my HSJC caregivers think I may have been used for breeding and was kept in a crate with my own urine and feces. :(   The staff here quickly fell in love with me because I'm incredibly affectionate, very gentle, and love to give kisses. I'm an attention seeker who's sweet as pie and I'll happily follow you everywhere or curl up with you on the couch. I'm very treat motivated and know the commands for sit and paw, and I'm excited to learn more! I've already learned the potty schedule at the shelter and I'm really enjoying being spoiled here. I love stuffed toys and safe chews/bones, but my number one love is people. I'm approved for families with respectful children and can't wait to spend my life with someone who really loves and cares about me! *NOTE: I must be the only animal in my home and thanks to a generous sponsor my adoption fee has already been paid!September 24, 2023, 12:32 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Spayed female Pit Bull mix 5 years old, 40 lbs Medium/high energy level Friendly, mellow, gentle Loves most other dogs Approved for families with respectful children of all ages I'm a very sweet girl with a mellow and calm personality. I have a gentle and docile demeanor and am extremely friendly with people and most other dogs. In fact, I LOVE most other dogs and am great at adjusting my play style to suit other pups. I know the command for sit and I have really nice leash manners. I have a good amount of energy and need daily exercise, but I like to spend an equal amount of time being a couch potato. I came from an overcrowded shelter down south and am very happy about finding my forever home in Wisconsin. I'm approved for respectful kids of all ages and will be an amazing companion and family member for my adopter! The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.September 24, 2023, 12:32 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Had a very rough past but still loves people Sweet, affectionate, eager to please Seems to like most other dogs Approved for families with respectful children of all ages Can go to his forever home on or after Thursday, September 7th I'm an extremely sweet boy who was brought to the shelter by a compassionate woman who saw someone push me out of their vehicle and drive away. I am very thin and most likely endured a sad and rough past. Even though I was treated so terribly, I still adore people and am a total love bug. I'm enjoying being spoiled at the HSJC with lots of affection, toys, treats, and safe chewies. I even get a Kong stuffed with peanut butter at lunch time! I am very friendly and eager to please, love attention, and want to be right by you (which isn't surprising after being thrown away like trash). I seem to really like most other dogs and am approved for families with respectful children of all ages. I need to gain weight in a safe way so my adopter must plan a vet visit to receive medically sound instructions on helping me bulk up. I'm looking for my true forever home where I'll never have to worry about being discarded and will finally learn how it feels to be loved! The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs.
