*Reduced adoption fee! Participating in our Bissell Empty the Shelter adoption event Julien is an absolute dreamboat! Not only is he a slam-dunk in the looks department, he's mastered the "puppy eyes" and just sucks you in with one look. Julien is sweet as can be, just melting in your hands and showering you with kisses. This kid is a master snuggler, and his tail never stops wagging. Although Julien does totally fine with other dogs when a barrier such as a fence or kennel door is involved, he would prefer not to share your attention and be the only dog in his forever home. Julien came to us with many scars on his face and legs, so we're assuming he may have been attacked in the past and understandably feels a bit nervous around other dogs. Julien has spent some time in our staff offices, as he's a favorite around the shelter. He loves to help with office duties and make sure everyone stays on task. After a few minutes of exploring, Julien settles in and lays on his bed all stretched relaxing. Julien is one fantastic pup, that's for sure! All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. *Reduced adoption fee! Participating in our Bissell Empty the Shelter adoption event Hopper is the happiest boy ever and really lives up to his name. He is an exuberant boy and loves to play. He came to us from a crowded shelter in Ohio, and is extremely underweight, which will quickly resolve with all the love and treats our shelter dogs receive. While we have not yet formally dog tested him, we were told Hopper is good with other dogs. Hopper is quickly picking up basic commands and is working on his manners, and has been enjoying walks with our volunteers. Hopper is looking for an active family who enjoys a good laugh from his silly personality, and would likely LOVE taking trick training classes or getting started in dog sports. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. Smudge is the cutest little gal who is sure to make your heart melt! She is always happy, and loves everyone. Smudge came to us from MADACC, and her intake photo immediately caught our eye. Radish came to us from MADACC, and is a typical happy puppy. She would do well in a family committed to continuing her basic training and socialization so she can grow into a well rounded adult dog. Radish recently joined our rescue, and we're still getting to know her. We'll update her bio as we know more! All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and have received routine deworming. ***** Luna has been here longer than we would like so she is a member of our Lonely Hearts Club and her adoption fee has been reduced to $300. *****Hey there, future friend! I'm Luna, a sleek and charming dog on the lookout for my forever home. Let me tell you a bit about myself. First things first, I absolutely love people! Whether it's a warm smile, a gentle pat, or just some quality time together, count me in. At the shelter, I've been known to be a real people-pleaser, and making new friends is one of my favorite things. I'm a smart girl and already know sit. I'm sure I could learn lots of other things with some positive reinforcement training. I also really love to play fetch. I hope you do too! I've lived in a home with cats and other dogs but its always a good idea to do slow introductions while I get comfortable making new friends. In a nutshell, I'm a friendly and loving companion who adores people, and I'm ready to find a home where I can shine. If you're looking for a loyal and affectionate friend who is ready to embark on new adventures with you, let's meet and see if we're a perfect match. I can't wait to bring some joy and love into your life!Medical History: I appear to be a healthy dog at this time, however it is always a good idea to have me meet my new vet shortly after adoptionWeight: 55 poundsAdoption Fee: $300 + taxIf you'd like to meet me, click the "Learn About the Adoption Process" button below to plan a visit to the shelter!

Story
Leo is just the happiest dude with the cutest ears! He loves his people.. and loves to do the little pitty piggy roll into them he's about 1-2yo.. 40# and looking for a house who loves happy hippo energy!! Oklahoma has a pretty cool program to help with their shelter dogs.. it is called "Frieds For Folks" ... where prisoners get the opportunity to be closely watched and learn how to train dogs with positive reinforcement.. so when we get a pup who needs some extra work.. or the shelter is just too full.. we partner with them to help not only set the dogs up for success, but also give prisoners the opportunity to learn and work with dogs... Lea was one of the pups who went through the program.. and here is what his person had to say.. "He is: Leo!! Dear Future Forever Family, Our goal is to help find dogs like Lea their forever home. By potty training, teaching basic obedience, and having fun too!!! Leo is a Black and White Terrier mix with a big heart. On his right side just plain as day! He is young, full of energy, very smart, and eager to learn. Like any young male potty training was a challenge but we got there! Leo has learned his commands very well but distractions can be challenging. He has learned to: Heel, Sit, Down, Touch (your palm with his nose), Look (you in the eye), Place (sit on his mat), Bed (on with all 4 feet), Stay, Wait (at a door or to eat when fed), Off (staying off people or an object, still working on it), Back-up (stop and tell him back-up when he pulls on the leash). He loves to chase his ball, he just don't like to drop it but is working on it, also loves tug-o-war with his rope and is learning to catch too. He will be a great addition to your family, will continue to learn, play and love you and your family for many years to come. I feel you will feel as lucky to get Leo as he will be to get you! Thank you for caring and becoming this great pups Forever Family! P.S. - `Also helpful for going to the vet is the command "Chin", holding your hand out and giving the command he will rest his chin in it. He also gets in his crate when asked and gets a treat when he does." ##2001991##

Story
Hi there, my name is Slim Jim. Or sometimes it's Bubba. Or Bubby. Or Slimbo. Or Rambo. I have a lot of names. My foster family says I have a big heart, big smarts, and big farts!  I have a big heart because I love lots of stuff, like making new human friends and CAR RIDES. Seriously I have no sense of stranger danger and will try to jump in anyone's car for a ride. I love a good chew treat and cheeseburgers. I love my blankie and sleeping all snuggled up in my crate, so will you please tuck me in every night? I love snuggles and giving kisses, but maybe bigger kids would be best for me because I REALLY get into the snuggles and don't want to accidentally knock a tiny human down. I do NOT love the cold or rainy weather, but I love dressing up in my sweaters and jackets to stay warm! I love butt scratches, tummy rubs, all kinds of adventures, and learning new things.    Speaking of learning new things, I have big smarts in this big noggin of mine! I pick up on new tricks super fast and already know how to sit, lay down, shake, wait, back (to sit in the back seat of the car), cross (the street), and turn left (I'm working on 'right'). I am great at food puzzles, and especially love my snuffle mat. I am crate trained and super polite on my leash when we're out for walks. I even know how to use agility equipment and am learning how to use a doggy treadmill. My recent record is 13 MPH!   My big farts are not so bad if I use a puzzle feeder, because then I don't eat so fast. It's this stubby, snorty nose of mine, I can't help but take in extra air.   There are a few things I don't love, mostly kitties (I want to eat them) and other dogs (they scare me). I take a cheap, daily anxiety medication (cost is under $10/mo) which helps me be more comfortable and my foster family has done a TON of training with me. They are sponsoring a private training session for whoever adopts me, to set me up for success in my new home!    Also, because I have such big smarts I take some things as a personal challenge. Crates and fences, for example. I think they are puzzles to be solved! I need a beefier crate than most dogs and a solid plan to keep me in the yard if I'm off-leash, because if that fence isn't solid like Mount Everest I am outtie! But I don't chew on or damage things in the house, don't worry about that.    I've been waiting for a home of my very own for far too long! So if you're looking for a Very Good Boy who you can have a lot of fun with, please reach out and ask for me, Slim Jim aka Bubba aka Bubby aka Slimbo aka Rambo.         Approximate DOB: 2021 Foster Home Location: Madison    If you are interested in adopting one of our wonderful dogs, you can apply on our website: https://forms.gle/MGakwmFh92UiK9iM6     Please allow several days for us to process your application. We are a small, all-volunteer group and we are doing our best to work quickly! After the application is processed we will make arrangements for you to meet the dog that interest you. All of our dogs are raised in our homes and live with us until they are adopted. They live with us as part of our families so we know them very well and we can help you find your perfect dog!     Our adoption fees:  Adults (up to 7 years): $275 Seniors (8 years and up): $200     All dogs are spayed or neutered, dewormed, vaccinated for rabies, bordatella and distemper, tested for heartworm and microchipped.May 5, 2024, 8:47 pm

Story
Cash, a 2-year-old American Pit Bull, was brought to the shelter as a stray. He's a total lover...a friendly and outgoing guy. He waits patiently at his kennel door to be let out into the yard to engage with the other shelter dogs. Cash knows a couple of basic commands but does still need some training and help with walking properly on a leash. He enjoys long walks, giving kisses and getting snuggles. He is okay with most dogs but would likely do better in a home without cats since he is afraid of them. Cash is up to date on his vaccinations and will be neutered prior to adoption.

Story
Introducing Tutti, the lovable Boxer mix with a heart full of affection and a zest for life! Hi, I'm Tutti, a spirited and affectionate Boxer mix ready to bring joy to your life! With my charming personality and playful nature, I'm the perfect companion for anyone seeking a loyal and loving pet. I absolutely adore my humans and thrive on cuddles and quality time together. Whether we're snuggled up on the couch or enjoying a leisurely walk in the park, I'll be right by your side, wagging my tail with excitement. I find great pleasure in the company of my loved ones and will shower you with endless affection and loyalty. One of my favorite pastimes is chasing balls and toys. Throw one my way, and I'll happily engage in an enthusiastic game of fetch. I'm always up for outdoor adventures, so count me in for long walks, hikes, or exploring new places. The fresh air and open spaces truly bring out the best in me! Having a four-legged friend unfortunately isn't going to be in the cards for me. I'll do best in a home where I am the only pet. I take pride in my impeccable house manners. I am housebroken and have mastered the art of kennel training, though I must admit that I have a soft spot for the couch or your cozy bed. After a day full of activities, nothing makes me happier than curling up beside you for a well-deserved snuggle session. If you're looking for an affectionate, fun-loving, and loyal companion, look no further than me, Tutti! Together, we'll create cherished memories and embark on countless adventures. I'm ready to become an integral part of your loving home and bring an abundance of joy and companionship into your life. So, what are you waiting for? Let's start our incredible journey together! **Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and once approved a meet and greet with the dog. Please do not apply if pets in the home are not up to date per our website requirements or are not altered. Wisconsin applications are priority, but Illinois applications will be considered if no small children are present in the home, the home is owned, and excellent vet reference can be provided. We cannot process applications from other states. Adoption fee is $350 unless otherwise noted above. Puppies under 1 year of age accept application for families with children over 6 years of age for large breeds and over 8 years of age for small breeds. Since they are still puppies, dogs under 1 will require a basic obedience and puppy training class, and spay/neuter at the owners expense.
