Story
Hope is being fostered in LA. Hope is a sweet and happy girl. She does have some vision loss. Hope is fit, healthy and a very loyal pup full of energy and love. She is ready to fill your days with adventure and nights with cuddling. Hope is looking for a daytime exercise partner with whom she can run, play with toys, engage in games of catch, tug of war and sometimes long silly leaps just for fun. In the evening a snuggle buddy is in order so she can cuddle close with her head on the lap of her human. Hope is very loyal and loving to her person. This sweetheart is well behaved and very likeable. She does well on a leash and is really great about going to her kennel when asked. Hope enjoys meeting new people and they, her. She is so adored at the vets office that they treat her like the “Belle of the Ball” giving her all kinds of special attention and loving. Hope, with all her positive qualities is still a youngster and often doesn’t know her own strength, so she can sometimes play rough. Slow introductions would be best. She plays well with most dogs, but prefers unassertive canine friends and would do well in a home without small children or cats. (Transports within 18 hours travel time are available to approved adopter.) BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Meet Spirit Spirit may be a puppy with a disability, but don’t tell her that—she has no idea! This happy, affectionate girl is full of love and joy. Her favorite things include snuggling on a soft bed or curling up right in your lap for a nap after a good play session. Spirit is paralyzed in her back end due to a stable spinal fracture that cannot be surgically repaired. She cannot use her back legs and has no control over stool or urine, but her elimination is reflexive and does not require intervention as long as amounts remain normal. Despite this, Spirit doesn’t let her condition slow her down one bit—she’s just as playful and silly as any other pup. She’s very social and loves meeting new people, especially kids. Spirit gets along well with other dogs and is curious about cats—though her playful energy and eagerness to chase may be a bit much for some feline friends. Like most puppies, Spirit is learning the ropes of the world. She’s working on playing fetch, enjoys sunny days outdoors, and thinks wagon rides are the best way to go on walks. She’s even dipped her paws into swimming at the lake! True to puppy form, she does like to explore the world with her mouth, so she’ll need continued guidance as she grows. At night, Spirit settles nicely in her crate and sleeps soundly when things are quiet. She’s the perfect mix of playful and cuddly—always ready for fun, but happiest snuggled up next to her people. If you’re looking for a sweet, resilient puppy who will bring sunshine, silliness, and snuggles into your life, Spirit just might be your match! All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough. Story
Meet Ophelia — a gentle, resilient soul finally stepping into the love she has always deserved. At just 2 years old, this beautiful pit mix has already weathered far more than most dogs ever should. Found as an emaciated stray and brought to Milwaukee Animal Control, Ophelia gave birth to her puppies only days later. Despite her condition, she poured every bit of strength into caring for them. Now that her pups are thriving, it’s Ophelia’s turn to be cherished. Ophelia’s foster family can’t say enough wonderful things about her. She is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and calm, with a soft spirit that shines through more every day. She does well in a crate overnight and for short stretches during the day, and eats peacefully alongside other dogs with no resource guarding at all. She gets along wonderfully with the resident dog (a friendly 60-lb male) and absolutely adores the children in the home — even choosing to sleep in bed with one of them when she’s not crated. Chaos doesn’t rattle her; loud kid energy and visitors don’t faze her in the slightest. She greets new people with a full-body tail wag and sometimes an excited hop, but she’s easily redirected with gentle guidance. Ophelia is still underweight and regaining strength, and while she walks well inside the home, she can pull strongly on leash in the yard — something that may increase as she continues to gain healthy weight. With continued patience and love, she will only keep blossoming. Ophelia is quiet, snuggly, and incredibly devoted — a dog who wants nothing more than to be close to her people and feel safe at last. After everything she’s overcome, she’s ready for a forever family who will show her the same unconditional love she has shown her puppies. If your home has room for a tender-hearted companion who radiates gratitude and sweetness, Ophelia may be the perfect addition to your family. All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough. Story
Nora isn’t just any puppy—she’s a fighter with a heart full of love and a spirit that won’t quit. This brave girl came to us from MADACC with two broken legs on the same side. Despite her traumatic start, Nora never let her tail stop wagging. After surgery, acupuncture, and months of rehab, she’s made an incredible recovery and is now ready for her next big adventure: finding a forever home. Nora is pure joy in puppy form. She’s smart, sweet, and full of energy—whether she’s playing tug-o-war, going for walks, or learning new tricks, she throws herself into life with enthusiasm. Once the fun is done, she’s happiest snuggled up next to her people, soaking up love and giving it right back. She gets along beautifully with people and other dogs, and her affectionate nature charms everyone she meets. Nora will thrive in an active home where she gets plenty of mental and physical engagement, along with the structure and guidance every growing pup needs. More than anything, Nora wants to be someone’s everything. She’s already shown us what strength, courage, and resilience look like—now she’s ready to show you just how deeply a dog can love. All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough. Story
Meet Tater — the Bestest Potato Around! If you’re looking for a chonky, wiggly bundle of joy, Tater is your guy! This adorable pup got his name because, well… he’s shaped like the perfect little potato. A very cute potato. Tater is the best mix of playful puppy energy and snuggly sweetness. He bounces, wiggles, wrestles, and greets every human or dog with a wildly happy tail. But the moment he’s ready to chill? He transforms into a certified couch potato who loves nothing more than cuddles and neck scratches. He’s especially fond of kids (they make the best playmates!), though his baby teeth are still a bit sharp—so gentle, supervised play is best. Cold weather? Not Tater’s fave. And grass? Also suspicious. But he’s working hard on potty skills and already knows how to ring a bell when he needs to go out—because Tater is one smart spud. He currently lives with two big foster dog brothers and isn’t even a little bit intimidated. He loves to wrestle and show them who’s boss! His foster family thinks he’d do great in a home with dogs, cats, and kiddos alike. If you’re ready for laughs, snuggles, and endless potato-flavored joy, Tater is the pup for you! All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough. Story
Adonis and Titan are being fostered in Ohio. They are great with people, but probably best with older children due to their size. They are not good with small dogs or cats. Adonis and Titan are bonded, happy, enthusiastic, athletic, and affectionate 60-pound boxer/bulldog mixes who find joy in being around each other and people – ANY people! They were found starving, weak, and wandering in rural Kentucky, when they took shelter from a rainstorm in the home of a kind woman who opened her door. Adonis is suspected to be around 9-10 years old, blind, and the father of Titan. Titan, closer to 3 years old, was helping his dad survive as best he could and stayed loyally by his side. They found themselves at a county shelter where they quickly became staff favorites and were doted on by staff and volunteers alike. But the shelter was crowded and despite their best efforts, nobody came for the dynamic duo, so BDRA stepped up. Nobody is sure where this bonded father/son pair came from, and it’s hard to guess their story. They seem to be familiar with both the bad and good life. Both have mouths full of broken teeth. In fact, a few teeth just fell out of their mouths in their first days at their foster home. Their doctor thinks they broke their teeth chewing on chains or a metal cage, desperately trying to escape. They have matching scars on their legs where bones protrude, as if they were stuck laying in one position for long periods of time. They are also hand-shy around their heads. They were neglected, abandoned, and mistreated in the past. But they were also beloved house dogs once. They were already house trained, crate trained, and leash trained when they were picked up as strays. They take treats gently and think they are lap dogs. Adonis does a perfect “sit” (Titan is working on it) and Titan has a 100% return rate when playing fetch. They both come when called. They are both quick learners and food motivated. They love EVERY human they meet — and they want to meet every human they see! (People can be intimidated by their looks; they are big, athletic, and strong.) They absolutely LOVE kids, but forget how big they are, so small ones are not recommended. Adonis and Titan are sweet, loving, cuddly, and funny boys. They are big squishy babies who love to cuddle. They absolutely live for “Netflix and cuddle” time. They love to snuggle up on the couch with humans for a movie or TV marathon. Their foster parents always squish their faces because it's impossible not to. They soak up every bit of attention they can get. They live for cuddles, pets, attention, and treats. Adonis gets around very well despite his vision impairment. He occasionally runs into things and often stares at things that aren’t there, but he can go up and down stairs very well and navigates the house. He occasionally runs into things or isn’t sure where the steps start, but he can always find a treat, a cozy bed, or a person. (Or he’ll play Marco Polo and bark to get a response to find the person!) His sense of hearing and smell are perfect. Adonis has decided he is an inside dog and thinks the good life is in the house. Titan LOVES toys and playing fetch. He resource guards his toys because he’s convinced Adonis wants his toys (he usually doesn’t) and will pick a fight, so he has to be supervised with toys. He is very loving and listens to correction very well. He seems to have a strong prey drive, so no cats, bunnies, birds, or other small animals! They have a medium amount of energy. They can be couch potatoes, but they also like to run around and play in the backyard and take walks. But if it’s raining or extra cold, they don’t want anything to do with being outside any longer than necessary, and they are perfectly content to just be lazy all day. Titan has more energy than Adonis, being a younger guy, and will make up his own games in the back yard with his favorite green ball. Adonis prefers to sit on the deck or be inside — wherever the humans are! They love each other very much and get very worried when they are separated. They often sleep in the same (very large) dog bed together. They are very bonded. They have some resource guarding from having to survive on their own, so they must be fed separately and supervised with toys. But they have gotten much better as they have learned resources are unlimited. They are NOT good with cats or small dogs. Since they are SO enthusiastic about showing people their love, they are probably best for bigger kids. (They will knock the little ones down because they have no idea how big they are.) Adonis and Titan have seen hard times, but they don’t hold any grudges. These two are ready to find someone with bully-breed experience who appreciates the bully personality and quirks, and is ready to welcome the sometimes slobbery, but always enthusiastic zest for life that these two are offering! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
