Story

Beau wants nothing more then to be a big lap dog. He loves other dogs and is crate trained and house broken. He is still learning to share his toys and gets grouchy sharing food, but he hasn't been taught no, and he picked up bad habits from his owners before they dumped him. He is not dog reactive and loves other dogs, doesn't bark. Very mellow young guy.

Haaaaave you met Charlie? Charlie is a 6-month-old love muffin who is the happiest boy around. He is eager to make new friends everywhere he goes and is a ray of sunshine that brightens up every room he enters. He is a goofy boy who we guarantee will make you smile with his funny antics. Charlie weighs about 50lbs now and likely will be around 60lbs when fully grown. Charlie came to us from the Stockton Animal Shelter after he was found as a stray with a fractured leg. Thanks to our friends, at the UC Davis Fracture Program, he is now all healed and ready to find his forever family! Charlie is a very sweet and affectionate guy but also can be independent when you're busy. He would be a great moderate-energy companion for someone who wants a dog that can go on long adventures but also can chill at home. He knows his basic manners but is still in his mischievous puppy phase and needs supervision to make sure he doesn't get into things he shouldn't. He also is still working on walking on a leash. Charlie has done very well with all the dogs he has met and became BFFs with the other large dog in his foster home. Due to his playful nature, he may have too much energy for a smaller or older dog, but he would love to have another playful dog around his size in his forever home. He also has done well being the only dog in the home. Charlie has done well with the cats in his foster home and could do well living with dog-savvy cats in his new home with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Charlie could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years or older. Charlie is housetrained and crate-trained. He hasn't shown any signs of separation anxiety but should be given time to acclimate to his new home before being home alone for a long period. He sleeps through the night in his crate and is happy to hang out in there when home alone. Charlie is a rockstar dog and deserves his happy ending. Wilde is 2 1/2 years old. He is full of personality and very cute! We got Wilde at the shelter when he was 6 months old. He was shy at first, but soon after became playful and full of energy. We have made the hard decision to re-home him due to some behavioral issues that we are no longer able to manage. He has some crate aggression and will try to intimidate people when he is anxious (ex: around people he is not familiar with inside or out of the home). Would not recommend a home with children. He had some training through a pet store, but the behaviors we were looking to address, were not apart of the curriculum and so were not resolved. He can be very loving, and looks for affection like most pups. Commands he is familiar with are sit, down, up, turn around, crawl, roll over, stay, back up, wait, high five and finish. He loves the dog park, running around, hiking, any type of water, treats, toys, playing fetch, attention, and food. He does not like taking baths.

Schatzie loves to be held and is very affectionate. She will walk up to you and rest her head on your hand or lap. She is slowly learning how to play catch after watching our resident dog and loves holding a toy in her mouth at all times. Squeaker toys are her jam and there are never too many tennis balls in her opinion. Often times you will find her rolling in the grass and springing back up to all four and ready for the next adventure. She rides well in cars, walks well on a leash and is potty trained. Everyone who meets her says she is an absolute sweetheart. The instant we met, our hearts melted, and could not agree any more.

Zeus is very smart and playful, he loves toys and learns routines quickly. Zeus loves to play chase and tug anytime. He is learning his manners well, but he still barks and gets excited easily so he may do best somewhere he has a little space to play on his own. He is very friendly with other people, he wants to play and will go get his toys and attempt to engage you in tug of war. He likes to chase balls but is still learning “drop”. If you have a couple toys to alternate with, he will fetch. He loves belly rubs. Zeus loves his treats but is pretty mellow about mealtimes. He will take food from your hand gently. We give him food 3 times a day and he often eats it slowly throughout the day, he doesn’t gobble food or overeat. When we need to give him pills he will eat a spoon of peanut butter with meds with no problem. Zeus crates well; he will go in there easily if you point inside and often takes naps in there on his own. His foster parents are home a lot so he is a little spoiled with attention, but he is used to being in his crate alone for a few hours at a time. He is both affectionate and sometimes self-sufficient. He likes to be with you or cuddle, and he also seems comfortable napping in the ‘other’ room. We have not tested Zeus with cats but he has a strong chase/hunt instinct and always goes after birds or squirrels. Zeus is sweet but he does get excited and can jump or be a rough player. He is learning not to jump up so much, but he does seem to like standing up on his hind legs. He is also pretty vocal when he is playing
