Adoption fee: $650 Meet Hi-C — A Refreshing Reason to Fall in Love Born in the shelter but raised in the safety of our rescue to adorable Mama Sunny D, a petite, low-rider Pittie mix, Hi-C has spent his entire life surrounded by love, good care, and plenty of opportunities to grow into a confident, happy pup. Now, at 4 months old and weighing somewhere around 25 pounds, he's ready to trade the nursery for a forever home. His days begin bright and early around 7 a.m. with a potty break outside before digging into his favorite Nulo puppy breakfast. Since growing puppies work up quite an appetite, he enjoys meals every 3–4 hours throughout the day before spending his time doing what puppies do best: playing, wrestling, exploring, collecting toys, greeting visitors, and occasionally crashing for an adorable nap. He spends his days roaming the barn with plenty of enrichment and has been raised alongside adult dogs and cats, making him a respectful housemate in the making. By about 9 p.m., he's happily tucked into bed after another adventure-filled day. Meet Remy, the boxer mix puppy. Remy arrived to the Shelter as a stray found in downtown Santa Cruz. Although a bit confused and unsure upon arrival, she has blossomed into loving TLC from staff and volunteers. She loves to play with toys – which is a great tool to use in positive reinforcement based training moving forward. Remy is very much a puppy and will need a patient adopter that will work with her on life skills and manners like potty training, age appropriate socialization and leash walking. We have observed that Remy appears a bit undersocialized with other dogs – retreating and barking fearfully. Adopters should be thoughtful in their interactions with other dogs and ensure that they are not overwhelming her when socializing. Dog parks and beaches are likely to be overwhelming to her and not appropriate for her vaccination status at this time. A home with a dog savvy canine may be a fit after a meet ‘n greet at the Shelter. We do not have any history of Remy with cats or children. Remy is available for pre-adoption. Come meet her, fall in love and take her home after her spay surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Nala has come to be with us by way of my sister. Nala was 8 weeks when she was left to my sister from her friend. Unfortunately my sister is disabled with the use of only one leg and cannot care for Nala the way she needs. Our home has multiple small dogs that are not compatible with Nala's breed. In the few days I have come to know Nala she has been such a good dog.There is nothing more I would like than for her to find a loving and caring home. Nala is 1yr and 6 months, very gentle and just longs to be loved.
