Hi! My name is Indy. I`m a beautiful one and a half year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix and I weight just under 60 pounds. I just recently came to the shelter but I`m a very friendly, playful girl.I love to run around and play with all my other canine friends here and I do really well at playtime. I take treats very nicely and I LOVE food. It may be a good idea to get me a fun, slow-feeder when you take me home so i don`t stuff my belly on all the wonderful things there are to eat. :)I love belly rubs, scratches and snuggles and I love to give my human friends lots of kisses. Please come and see me and my friends at the shelter today so we can snuggle into your warm homes. If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm. Please note that I will be out of the shelter from 4-1-24 until 4-8-24.My adoption fee is being SPONSORED BY MACOMB COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL!

Story
Hi, I’m Billie! My favorite thing is being by your side. I’m a happy young girl with lots of energy for playing. I’m very well behaved around the house and love to snuggle on the couch. I love to run in a fenced yard or on a long line. I also really like to chase small animals, so a cat-free home would be best for me. I am very attentive with my beautiful yellow eyes and I enjoy learning through training games. I’m the perfect size at 45 lbs. I’m pretty scared of new dogs and I may bark to keep them away from me, but I did live with dogs before and got along with them well. New people are even a little scary to me at first. My adoption comes with six free training sessions with a certified, force-free trainer. I’ve got a whole life ahead of me and I’m eager to meet you so we can get started on it together. Apply today to meet me so I can be your new BFF. Adoption fee: $80. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 30 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip. Shop our Amazon Wish List to gift us supplies we need and have them shipped directly to us.. NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Adoption Process: Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Story
Hi everyone, my name is Sage! If you are looking for a bouncy best friend who follows you around all day, I’m your girl. I am young at about 2 years old. I am the perfect cuddle size, about 40 lbs. I LOVES all the people. I think humans are the best invention ever, and I am friends with all of them. I am a snuggle bug, a real pro. You will find me where you are, cuddling at the foot of your bed, next to you on the couch or in my dog bed nearby. I am a 5-star work-from-home colleague, quietly close by while you work all day. I am quiet and well behaved. I do love snackies and treats. I work for them and I know lots of behavior commands, like sit and come. I am 100% housetrained. I'm smart, a quick learner, so I hope you'll teach me new things. Again, working hard for those treats. One of my favorite pastimes is going for leisurely walks. I also really enjoy playing with tennis balls and squeaky toys. I am a happy girl by default. I smile and wag my tail to say hello. I am currently undergoing heartworm treatment, but the rescue will continue to handle that until I'm all better. If you have room in your heart and home for a sweetheart like me, please apply today and prepare to fall in love! Adoption fee: $80. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 30 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip. Adoption and Foster Care Application Shop our Amazon Wish List to gift us supplies we need and have them shipped directly to us. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be. Examples: Identify these mixed breed dogs (pdf) Now, compare these canine DNA results with the survey responses to see that dog breeds cannot be visually identified, not even by the experts. Story
Beautiful Frankie is looking for someone to love her more than anything. She is estimated to be about 2 years old and weighs 41 pounds. Frankie is so sweet, calm and just a treasure. She is our shy girl who just loves to stay close to you. What a perfect sit and down she has too. Frankie is quite submissive though, the poor muffin, she tucks her cute tail and cowers when she is a little overwhelmed. She will also drop to the floor and scoot to you on her stomach when she is scared. This tender soul will need an experienced adopter who has the time and patience to build her confidence and trust. Frankie will need a home where any children are at least 13 years old due to her shy, insecure nature. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Frankie would love to meet them. Frankie was just so sweet when meeting a dog smaller than her, she made herself small and laid down on the ground to get to the other dog's level. Then she likes to “check in” with you too. If you are interested in Frankie and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
**Twinkie is in a foster home and not at the shelter** Hey there, I'm Twinkie! No, not the sweet treat, but I'm just as delightful. I'm playful, goofy, and curious. I might stumble around a bit, but that's just part of my charm. I have done fabulous with potty and crate training. I’ve even been left alone uncrated for about 3 hours with no issues too. My foster mom say she misses me too much to leave me any longer. I'm quite the chatterbox, always ready to share my thoughts. If you've had a long day, don't worry, you won’t have to say a word with me around. Everyday is an adventure with me. My foster mom says I am such a sponge taking so many new things in and I’m doing really great. I do enjoy car rides but I would love a little nudge to help me get into the car. My favorite game is playing fetch. Have two toys ready and we can keep the game going for a little while until it’s nap time. My foster mom says the cutest thing I do is chew/suck on my blankie. I tend to do that when I am tired or needing to self sooth. She says it reminds her of a toddler sucking his thumb. I really like other dogs a lot! When I am around other dogs I do tire out very fast and exhaustion sets in quickly. Honestly as much as I love them I think I would be best as the only dog in the household. I’m looking for a home that can provide me with stability and guidance as well as love and praise. A daily structured routine would be awesome for me so I’m not always guessing what will be next. I’m a creature of habit for sure! So I’m thinking everyone in the home should be teenagers or older so we can all establish our household routines together. I'm ready to fill your life with laughter and lots of tail wags. Adopt me and let's make our own fun-filled adventures together! Apply at k9stray.com and my friends at k9 will be in touch.
