Story
Da’mo is a big softie at heart. He loves to wrestle and play tug or war. He truly has speed like no other. Da’mo is always on guard with the slightest noise providing such a comfort and peace in knowing he is alert. He is huge on cuddling as well. Da’mo does display reactive behaviors and has been trained on a few commands. He is 1 and some months. We are hoping he is adopted by an experienced trainer that is able to provide him the love and care he deserves. Da’mo is a goofball, loving, and confident.

Story
We adopted Ruby when she was 3 from Genesee County Humane Society. She is about 8 years old. We are looking for a home that will give her the attention she deserves. Her favorite game is tug of war. She would be great in a home with older kids as she doesnt realize how strong she is and can be very energetic. She also loves to snuggle up on the couch. She is good with other dogs. She has never been around a cat. She is the sweetest girl and has so much love to give.

Story
Hi, I’m Billie! My favorite thing is being by your side. I’m a happy young girl with lots of energy for playing. I’m very well behaved around the house and love to snuggle on the couch. I love to run in a fenced yard or on a long line. I also really like to chase small animals, so a cat-free home would be best for me. I am very attentive with my beautiful yellow eyes and I enjoy learning through training games. I’m the perfect size at 45 lbs. I’m pretty scared of new dogs and I may bark to keep them away from me, but I did live with dogs before and got along with them well. New people are even a little scary to me at first. My adoption comes with six free training sessions with a certified, force-free trainer. I’ve got a whole life ahead of me and I’m eager to meet you so we can get started on it together. Apply today to meet me so I can be your new BFF. Adoption fee: $80. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 30 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip. Shop our Amazon Wish List to gift us supplies we need and have them shipped directly to us.. NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Adoption Process: Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Story
Hi everyone, my name is Sage! If you are looking for a bouncy best friend who follows you around all day, I’m your girl. I am young at about 2 years old. I am the perfect cuddle size, about 40 lbs. I LOVES all the people. I think humans are the best invention ever, and I am friends with all of them. I am a snuggle bug, a real pro. You will find me where you are, cuddling at the foot of your bed, next to you on the couch or in my dog bed nearby. I am a 5-star work-from-home colleague, quietly close by while you work all day. I am quiet and well behaved. I do love snackies and treats. I work for them and I know lots of behavior commands, like sit and come. I am 100% housetrained. I'm smart, a quick learner, so I hope you'll teach me new things. Again, working hard for those treats. One of my favorite pastimes is going for leisurely walks. I also really enjoy playing with tennis balls and squeaky toys. I am a happy girl by default. I smile and wag my tail to say hello. I am currently undergoing heartworm treatment, but the rescue will continue to handle that until I'm all better. If you have room in your heart and home for a sweetheart like me, please apply today and prepare to fall in love! Adoption fee: $80. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 30 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be. Examples: Identify these mixed breed dogs (pdf) Now, compare these canine DNA results with the survey responses to see that dog breeds cannot be visually identified, not even by the experts. Story
Bella is a 2 year old AmStaff. She’s very playful and loving. She’s currently in beginner Petco training and is doing very well. She knows basic commands and is crate trained. She loves soft pillows and blankets. She laid back and friendly. Everywhere we go people compliment her on her beauty. She’s a favorite at the groomer and she enjoys massages & brushing. Because of her friendly, funny, and sweet nature, I think she should have her own YouTube channel (lol). She needs a home with a backyard & someone that can play with this fun loving dog. She’s very affectionate and smart. She does well on car drives. She excels at fetch and playtime. She enjoys sun bathing & and running around outside. No need to be harsh with training and discipline she learns fast and aims to please. She will be an owners best friend and she had several outfits to keep her stylish. 💞🐶

Story
Be prepared, these soulful eyes will get you good! Sweet Taffie is estimated to be about 18 months old and weighs 45 pounds. If you are looking for a cuddle muffin partner, Taffie would like to put in her application! She yearns to be close to people, whether it’s for a warm embrace or a cozy spot on the couch. She is the perfect companion for a quiet evening in, or a low-key adventure outside. Taffie can be a little shy and submissive though, she would really benefit from some leadership and confidence building. This sweet girl only wants to please you, it will be wonderful to watch her blossom into a confident young lady. She may prefer a quieter, more predictable type home where any children are at least 8 years old, to match her shy, quiet personality. Taffie is so easy to love and a joy to be around, she is going to make some lucky family very happy. **We have had a wonderful update from Taffie's foster mom: Sweet sweet Taffie, I call her Butter because she just melts into you. This girl is one of the best dogs I have fostered. This girl doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She's very respectful to my dogs and she's coming out of her shell, so she does want to play but if they do not, she backs off. She is not food aggressive in the least. Very easy on a leash outside and has really good recall. She was so tired. She slept pretty much for 3 days. I crate her at night and she is fine with it. But now she knows the comfort of a bed and squishy chairs that she doesn't want to go in, but she has no problem staying in there the whole night and being quiet. This girl is really special. She's also good in the car. Needs a little bit more confidence. I think a doggy sibling would be wonderful for her. So please if anyone knows anybody let's try to get her a great new home.** If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Taffie would love to meet them. She has a soft, loose, submissive approach with other dogs. She really comes out of her shell with other dogs, another friendly dog in the home may help with her confidence building. If you are interested in Taffie and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*
