Hi, my name is Sis. I am 2 years old now. Life flies by when you're social butterfly!!! I love to play and spend time with the volunteers and staff at HSOM while I wait for my forever home, where I can play all the time. I even like to play with some other dogs! I would like to meet your dog if you have another one at home. I'm not sure what I like better, playing or cuddling with my favorite person because, I love to do both!Thank you for showing an interest in our pets. We can never guarantee the breeds of the animals. We do not DNA test. Please feel free to call us with any questions.

Story
Hey hey, I’m Kobe! My brother,Shaq, and I have a sad story. We are twin brothers who are 10 months old and weigh 52lbs. We were found as strays in Oakland County and then were reunited with out owner. Sadly, our owner then sold us on Snapchat like we meant nothing to them. Within 48 hours we were passed around from home to home, from one stranger to another, from so many smells and new things…we ended up separated during this time. Confused, scared, wondering where my brother was, the both of us began to wonder if we would ever see each other again. It was a dark time for both of us. Thankfully, we landed ourselves in Macomb County and Macomb County Animal Control heard our plea for help from a kind individual. They immediately taught the buyers a lesson and took us in before anything bad happened to us. Shaq and I were reunited at Macomb County Animal Control! We were beyond thrilled and happy to see each other again! We knew we would be ok here as hopefully our last pit-stop before finding a forever family. We have the same personality! Although we would love a home together, we do not require a home together. We both love other dogs and making new dog-friends. We are playful and energetic and would do best with a fenced in yard to allow energy burn off. The volunteers are teaching us basic commands. While we are very outgoing with people we know and other dogs, we are shy when we first get to know you. If you think about it, it’s understandable given our history. We promise we do warm up after we realize you will not hurt us or throw us away like the people before you. We had not met cats while being in the shelter. A slow introduction is required to ensure a happy life. We have volunteers as young as 10 years old and I do well with them. I`m up to date on my vaccines, however I will need to see my new veterinarian within 2 weeks of my adoption to ensure that I stay healthy and keep on a regular vaccination schedule. If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm. SHATTER IS BEING HELD BY A PRIVATE OWNER - PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT SILVER LAKE! I’m looking for a nice home for my 2 1/2 year old pitbull/boxer.. I can’t afford my trailer anymore so I’m having to move back with my parents and my father is allergic to dogs. I didn’t wanna put Shatter in a shelter because I was scared they would put him down if they didn’t find a home for him. He is such a good boy… it’s been me and him for 2 1/2 years and this breaks my heart and I’m hoping to find a good home for him… my three-year-old niece absolutely loves him!!! He’s had some training. He’s also been neutered and he has all his vaccinations and is microchipped. My phone number is 248-971-9570. My name is Amanda and I will anxiously be waiting to hear from you.,,,, Serious adopters only, please! Personality traits Friendly, Smart

Story
Meet Harley! This adorable boxer babe is two years old and weighs in around 42 pounds. Harley's journey began as a street dog in Arkansas, before moving into a foster home and now arriving at GLDR. She's currently in foster with our founder and we have lots of info to share with you about this beautiful girl! When it comes time to play, Harley is ready and willing to have some fun! She likes her stuffed toys and enjoys chasing a ball. A yard for her to romp in is a must for this fun-loving pup! Harley does like to play with other dogs, and would do best with dogs her size that have an energetic play style. When it comes time to eat, Harley is very food-motivated and will need to be fed separate from your other dog as she likes to steal meals if given a chance. Harley is both crate-trained and house-trained. She loves going for walks and does best with a harness lead to help keep her focused. As she's still a young pup, she will benefit from continued training and work on the leash. She's a very social and would love to go on lots of adventures with you. At the end of the day, Harley is content to sleep quietly through the night in her crate. Based on our evaluation, Harley would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. She may also have the potential to live in a home with other dogs of a similar size and energy level. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Harley will need to go to a cat-free home. Please fill out an application at greatlakesdogrescue.com and my friends at GLDR will get you in contact with my foster family!

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41) completely. If you are unable to send in this format, please be prepared to provide this documentation in another way prior to adoption.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other dogs/cats. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment.
