Story
Hello meet Swan,This pretty girl is ready to go home and experience what real love is all about. We are not sure what happened to Swan but it must of been pretty terrible. Helping her adjust may take a lot of patience and understanding. This sweet girl is confused and frightened about other dogs. She doesn`t know how to play or interact with them. We are trying our best to help her socialize and get her acclimated but we must go at her pace. We would really love to have her go to a quiet home with positive reinforcement. She really enjoys being in a yard to zoom around and has fun when she is by your side. She`s fairly quiet and we would recommend a crate for her so she has a safe space to enjoy. If you have it in your heart to give this beauty the time she needs we wouldn`t be able to thank you enough. She is looing forward to meeting youLove,SwanJOIN US FOR THE BISSELL PET FOUNDATION EMPTY THE SHELTERS ADOPTION EVENT HAPPENING MAY 1-15!We will be open Saturday, May 4 from 10am-3pm for a unique `May the Forth be with You Event - THE SHELTER BARKS BACK!

Story
What a brindle beauty he is! Eugene is estimated to be about a year old and weighs 40 pounds. Well, Mr. Eugene is such nice, smart boy that one of our wonderful volunteers is taking him to a Trick Class once a week. He just went to his first class and he was such a good boy. As you can see from all of his pictures, he loved it and was such a good co-pilot in the car, he was also fascinated by the car wash on the way home. Apparently, Eugene was a rockstar! He worked on so many things: Spin, Peekaboo, Play bow, Shake, Chin & Slide and caught on to each so fast! The one picture of Eugine looking up at his volunteer saying “I woof you, thank you for giving me a kennel break and taking me to Tricks Class” is so sweet. There are really no words for the cuteness overload with this boy and his underbite. Eugene is a fun, friendly and full of life pup! He is super playful, loves his toys and also releases them nicely. He is brimming with love and affection, just wishing for a family to grow up with. Eugene really looks to you for direction and catches on quickly with leadership and reinforcement. Need an exploring buddy, he is interested in everything, just loving his walks, what a wonderful best friend he will be! He can be a little mouthy though and needs some basic manners work, so it would be wonderful if his new family could work on this with him. Eugene has lots of potential, he just needs someone to provide some structure and guidance. His dream would be an active, fun family with room to run. He will also need home where any children are at least 13 years old. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Eugene would love to meet them. He has a nice, soft, friendly approach with other dogs. If you are interested in Eugene and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats*

Story
Izzy is a 4yr old boxer pit mix. I adopted her as a puppy from the humane society and she has always lived with other dogs. Unfortunately due to problems she is having with one of my older corgis i am asking she go to a home with no other pets. She loves her stuffed animals, playing catch, tennis and basket balls are her favorite. She loves to cuddle on the couch and in bed with her human. She also enjoys walks and car rides (long and short). She is a good dog for someone who is not gone for long periods at a time and loves to cuddle.

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://us14b.sheltermanager.com/onlineform_view?formid=46) completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 50-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will continue to perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.
