We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41) completely. This must be in a .jpeg format. If you are unable to send in this format, please be prepared to provide this documentation in another way prior to adoption.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other dogs/cats. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). We get to know each cat or kitten as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our cats based on personality, not by breed label. Adoption Process: Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Story
Hi there! My name is Sir Archibald Wallace III - or - Archie. I am about 2 years old and I am a lovebug. I enjoy hot dogs, my big stuffed frog squeaky toy and snuggling on the couch. I am a smart boy who loves to learn new things and get rewarded for it - that's where the yummy hot dogs come in. My foster mom says I am the easiest dog she's ever given a bath to. I like the warm water and guess what ... hot dog treats come along with the experience, making it even better. I am doing great meeting other dogs, new human friends and even kids. I am a little shy around strangers, but as long as someone is willing to take it slow with me, I will be your best friend. I can't wait to enjoy long walks, many rounds of fetch and many squeaky toys with my new family. I am housetrained and ready to meet the love of my life. All I need now is you. Apply today! Adoption fee: $80. Adopt a pair: $120. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 30 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip. Story
Hi everyone! My name is Miss Billie and I am the cutest little girl. I am just 1 year old and I weigh 35 lbs. I am adorable in every way with my beautiful, soft, chocolate brown fur and white markings. I am a bundle of joy who wiggles with unabashed excitement when you walk in the door. I am a lovergirl and a lapdog. I love to cuddle and spend time with you. I am content to cuddle on the couch on a rainy day and play fetch in the yard when the wet stuff stops. Not only am I a lover and a cuddler, but I am also a great listener and a quick study. That means I am smart and a quick learner. I come when called, I sit for snacks and I am incredibly responsive to positive reinforcement trick training. While I have energy and I love to play, I am also great at entertaining myself with a bone or chew toy. I do have some fears in life, like dogs I don't know and strangers. I am working on it though. I am learning that new people aren't so scary, but it's not a fast process. I have made friends with other dogs in my life, but I am still fearful and reactive when meeting new ones. I hope to find a forever home with someone who is patient and who will help me learn that the world doesn't have to feel quite so scary. Paws for Life will show you how. I have a high prey drive to chase and catch small furry things, so no cats in my new home is best for everyone. I really enjoy human companionship. I am the sweetest pup with my people. I am housetrained, too. Give me a chance. Please apply today! Adoption fee: $80. Story
Meet the tiniest of pocket pitties-beautiful Odette This sweet little girl, hard to believe came from rough beginnings. She is now safe in our shelter and thriving, however, what she really wants is a family to call her own. In the short time she has been with us, she has gotten to learn all about love and what it is like to be safe. She even had a Secret Santa this year that brought presents just for her! Odette seems to love people and is happy to get plenty of cuddles. She is the perfect-sized lapdog. Because everything for her will be new, being the only dog, for now, so she can get all the love and attention she didn't get before, would set her up for the most success in her new home. If you would like to add Odette to your family, be sure to fill out an application for her.

Story
Hi, I'm Cranberry! I am here trying to find my forever family so please keep reading because I worked hard on this. A little about me, here it goes. I came into the shelter with my friend Garland (can you guess around what holiday?) and we were both very very skinny. The shelter here that saved us has been doing a great job of fattening me up and making me healthy. I am always warm now and have food, water, and lots of friends to cuddle with that like to play with me. I have this silly grin that I love to make that everyone gets a kick out of. If we get to meet, I am sure you will see it. Since I have been here my personality is really starting to shine and I can be pretty silly when I want to, I mean my booty wiggles and I can't stop. I also love a good toy which I got plenty of from my very own Secret Santa, I especially love my stuffed toy shaped like a Christmas tree. I have realized that I really love people more than I love dogs so I would want to be your one and only. I like a ton of attention anyways. They think I am ready now to find my forever family, so here we are. If you think you would like to be my family be sure to fill out an app for me.
