I saved him from somebody I won’t say names but he was locked in the basement in the dark, he was barely fed and his skin was irritated from feces and urine that was sitting in his cage I can put pictures up for a before and after. But I got him back on his feet I took him to get shots as well so he’s able to be around dogs. The reason I’m putting him up is I am not able to take care of him because I work a lot if someone can help out please and thank you🙏🏾

Meet Captain!!!! Captain came to us when he was found as a stray in Detroit and ended up at an overcrowded shelter. He was heartworm positive, so his odds of making it out alive were slim. He became a volunteer favorite and we were made aware that he was at risk for euthanasia. Thankfully one of our AMAZING foster families stepped up to be his HERO and the rest is history! Captain has gone through heartworm treatment, is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. So now it is time to find his FUREVER family! Captain is a joy to be around. He is such a happy boy that loves everyone he meets! He is cat, dog and kid friendly and also rides great in the car! Story
Hi, I’m Billie! My favorite thing is being by your side. I’m a happy young girl with lots of energy for playing. I’m very well behaved around the house and love to snuggle on the couch. I love to run in a fenced yard or on a long line. I also really like to chase small animals, so a cat-free home would be best for me. I am very attentive with my beautiful yellow eyes and I enjoy learning through training games. I’m the perfect size at 45 lbs. I’m pretty scared of new dogs and I may bark to keep them away from me, but I did live with dogs before and got along with them well. New people are even a little scary to me at first. My adoption comes with six free training sessions with a certified, force-free trainer. I’ve got a whole life ahead of me and I’m eager to meet you so we can get started on it together. Apply today to meet me so I can be your new BFF. Adoption fee: $80. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 30 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip. Shop our Amazon Wish List to gift us supplies we need and have them shipped directly to us.. NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Adoption Process: Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Story
Hi everyone, my name is Sage! If you are looking for a bouncy best friend who follows you around all day, I’m your girl. I am young at about 2 years old. I am the perfect cuddle size, about 40 lbs. I LOVES all the people. I think humans are the best invention ever, and I am friends with all of them. I am a snuggle bug, a real pro. You will find me where you are, cuddling at the foot of your bed, next to you on the couch or in my dog bed nearby. I am a 5-star work-from-home colleague, quietly close by while you work all day. I am quiet and well behaved. I do love snackies and treats. I work for them and I know lots of behavior commands, like sit and come. I am 100% housetrained. I'm smart, a quick learner, so I hope you'll teach me new things. Again, working hard for those treats. One of my favorite pastimes is going for leisurely walks. I also really enjoy playing with tennis balls and squeaky toys. I am a happy girl by default. I smile and wag my tail to say hello. I am currently undergoing heartworm treatment, but the rescue will continue to handle that until I'm all better. If you have room in your heart and home for a sweetheart like me, please apply today and prepare to fall in love! Adoption fee: $80. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 30 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip. Adoption and Foster Care Application Shop our Amazon Wish List to gift us supplies we need and have them shipped directly to us. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be. Examples: Identify these mixed breed dogs (pdf) Now, compare these canine DNA results with the survey responses to see that dog breeds cannot be visually identified, not even by the experts.
