Story
If you are interested in adopting King, please contact dogs@lostdogrescue.org. All hail King, ruler of the backyard zoomies, champion of fetch, and professional lean-in-for-a-belly-rub expert. This affectionate, sweet boy has perfected the art of “play hard, nap harder.” One minute he’s trotting happily beside you on a walk, the next he’s sprawled dramatically by your desk like he just finished a very important business meeting. King’s dream life? A fenced yard, a basket overflowing with toys, and a favorite human to shadow from room to room like a very devoted (and slightly silly) personal assistant. He’s the kind of dog who will quietly keep you company while you work, supervise your cooking from the kitchen floor, and politely request his daily quota of bear hugs and belly rubs. He truly just wants to be with his favorite human, whether that’s hanging out inside or heading outdoors for walks, sniffing adventures, fetch, and games. Even better? This good boy is currently thriving in a foster home where he’s shown just how naturally he fits into family life. He is house-trained and crate-trained, sleeps soundly through the night, and settles beautifully into a routine like he’s been part of the family forever. Equal parts goofy sidekick and loyal best friend, King is ready to trade foster life for couch naps, sunny walks, squirrel patrol duty, and forever-family status. If your house could use a little more laughter, love, and paw-print energy, King is ready to move in and claim his throne.

Story
To learn more about Paxton, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org Paxton is a tender-hearted boy who just needs a little reassurance to feel safe. He is calm, but a little nervous, and will look to you for confidence and affirmation. Once you give him a little time, he’s ready to lean into pets soak up your affection. If you stop, he’ll lovingly ask you for more. He prefers to move at a slow, reassuring pace. But once he knows he can trust you, his playful, silly side comes out. He’ll bounce up to say hello, grab toys, show his joy and give you yours. With time and trust, this sensitive sweetheart will let his warm, playful personality shine!

I’m a 5‑year‑old Boxer/Bulldog mix who may look stoic at first, but I’m really a sweet, loyal companion who loves calm walks, cozy naps, and being close to my people. If you want a steady, affectionate dog with a noble look and an even sweeter soul, I’m ready to go home with you.   What My Foster Says About Me:   Butterscotch is a happy pup who is learning to sit on command. He takes treats nicely and enjoys walks and wandering around the yard. Heartworm information: Butterscotch is a truly Lucky Dog. He tested positive for heartworms, but has been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. Butterscotch has completed this activity restriction period.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Please contact Maddy Karon (maddyk@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweeter than the dessert morsel! BON BON NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Bon Bon      Best Guess for Breed:    Boxer and terrier mix   Best Guess for Age:   4 years as of March 2026     SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight:    57 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations: Bon Bon is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!   Bon Bon is Looking For:   Her forever home! This sweet girl landed in the shelter through no fault of her own. At about four years old, she's past her puppy days - and is in her prime as an adult dog. She's up for adventure - she's eager for sniffy walks and romps and world exploration with her humans! A cushy dog bed, quality kibble, and lots of snuggles round out her wish list. But most of all she wants to know where she belongs, that she's safe and loved. What do you say? Do you have space in your home and your heart for Bon Bon?   What My Foster Says About Me: Bon Bon is so easy going. With us, she appeared to be crate trained and potty trained. She is the sweetest girl to everyone she meets. She loves to cuddle and is a huge lap dog. With other dogs, Bon Bon is incredibly gentle. She appreciates dogs who can also be gentle and chill, but would be fine with more energetic dogs after a slower introduction. She is a foster that'll settle in right away and appreciates all the little things. Although she is big, she is dog/people neutral and doesn't seem to bark so she would do great in an apartment.   Another volunteer added this:   She is so sweet! She has a calm demeanor and everyone that meets her has mentioned that. She is also calm around puppies and children! She definitely appears potty trained. She is a strong puller on the leash but with a proper harness, it worked like magic! Also to mention she has no issues with reactivity, appears very loyal, and probably will be easier to train!    Bonbon is a sweet and calm dog. There are many noises in DC but she handled it pretty well! She is a very strong puller but as the walk progressed, the pulling lessened. She wasnt jumpy and did well following direction. She has a very calming presence. Story
(2 years, 45 pounds) Bendita means "blessed” in Portuguese, and that is exactly what this brown-eyed girl will be in any new home. She has become a brave little city girl, taking in all the sights, smells and sounds when she goes for long walks outside. She has just the right amount of energy and is ready to go for a walk or jumping right on your lap for a midafternoon nap. An independent one, she is content playing with her toys and amusing herself until you are ready for a game of tug of war or cuddles. She also does great in her crate — she knows it is her safe space for bedtime — and has no problem being left alone for a few hours. She's still getting the hang of house training, so taking her out on a schedule is helpful. She is good at picking up new routines and knows her name and words like “come.” This beautiful girl is a very adaptable city dog, and ready to find her forever “hooman." Apply today to meet Bendita! ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC.
