Story
FOSTER OR FOSTER TO ADOPT Meet Tasha! She is an energetic, 5-month-old Shepherd/Pittie mix who loves to play. She came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter in CA and is looking for her forever home. She is a sweet girl who is eager to learn. She will need an adopter who will need to be committed to potty training, obedience training and everything that a puppy needs. She would love a home/townhome with a fenced yard in a suburban or rural area. She does well with other dogs and loves to play in the play yard with other dogs. She would love to be in a home with another dog to help show her the ropes as she grows up, or a home that has other dogs in their friend/family circle for him to socialize with. Tasha is up to date on her vaccinations and will be spayed and microchipped prior to adoption. Her adoption fee is $500.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED! Annie is a 2yo, 50lb Staffordshire Terrier/Pit Bull mix who is ready to find her forever home! Annie is an adorable little short-stack who is spunky, happy and a very fun pup. She loves to go for walks, play in the pool to cool off on a hot day, and play with toys! Annie will do great with an active family that can continue basic obedience. Annie has done well with other dogs in our care. Due to her breed and playful energy, we want to make sure she is a good fit with any existing dogs in the home. She would also do fine as an only dog with continued socialization. She is not tested with kids or cats. Annie is UTD on shots, spayed and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $400.

Story
Bella is an absolutely wonderful companion and is a little bit of everything rolled into one sweet 4 year old mutt. She is just as lazy as she is active, loving a good nap as much as a long hike. She is silly yet serious, adventurous yet timid. Bella is obedient and eager to please her family and is friendly with all people. She has done very well in a home with older kids. One of our favorite things about Bella is how goofy and playful she can be. She even plays with her toys on her own, tossing them in the air to catch them and throw them again. She is a quiet dog and very rarely barks, except when she’s deep in a dream. When comfortable in her home, she can easily be alone for 4-6 hours. She does not like being crated but is not destructive, happy to lay in her bed or a favorite chair until you return. Bella has been on anti-anxiety meds for over two years after coming from a shelter environment. This has helped her overcome separation anxiety and really helped her thrive. Why is Bella looking for a home? Only one reason. Our girl needs a home without other animals. While she can be friendly in brief interactions, she is selective and doesn’t like sharing toys or her people with other dogs. Her perfect home would be beyond lucky to have her.

Story
Meet Modelo, the beefy dog with a big heart and an even bigger appetite! With his striking blue eye and light black speckles on white fur, Modelo is a true one-of-a-kind pooch. If you're looking for a dog that's full of life and zest, then Modelo is the pup for you! He's always on the go and loves nothing more than playing with his toys. In (not actual) fact, Modelo has a bit of a toy obsession - he's collected so many over the years that his humans had to rent a storage unit just to keep them all! Despite his toy addiction, Modelo is also a big fan of the great outdoors. He would love a yard to play in and explore. Just be warned, he will want you to play with him! He loves interacting with humans. He is housetrained, kennel trained & knows sit and shake. He still can learn more tricks and commands and is looking for someone to show him the way! Modelo is a bit of a goofball and has a great sense of humor. He loves making his humans laugh and will do just about anything for a treat. He's also a bit of a foodie and enjoys trying new snacks and treats. His favorite? Beef, of course! This big, beefy boy is looking for a forever home with a family that can match his energy and love for life. If you're ready for a furry companion who will keep you on your toes and make you laugh every day, then Modelo is the dog for you! To see more videos and pictures of Modelo, copy and paste this link: https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-57 You can apply directly for Modelo by clicking the "Apply For Adoption" Button All of our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy’s team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle him into your home. Story
Lucky is a very good natured Lugnut! He knows how handsome he is with his wide jaw and high cheek bones but don’t hold that against him. He also knows how lucky he is to be alive! He was found with one of the worst wounds across his hind end the vet has ever seen. He went through surgery like a champion and is ready to live life again. The trauma affected his tail so he can’t raise it high but does give a “low wag”. Lugnut enjoys basking in the sun or running in the yard. He also loves a good nap on his favorite easy chair! We have found his absolute favorite thing ever is water. On a hot day, he will march back and forth in the front of the hose. He will lounge in a baby pool rolling over and over cooling off his back. He plays with his toys in the pool and just loves having a place to cool off. He is ripe for adventure, loading up in the car well and riding calmly to the next destination! He especially loves his pup cups! He gets along well with dogs of all sizes, but we recommend a meet and greet first. We don’t know how he is with cats. He does well in a crate/kennel for the night but needs time to release his playful energy during the day. Lugnut is the gentlest treat taker we have ever seen! He will wait and not snatch it out of your hand. He’s so patient and such a good boy. Lugnut loves his toys and likes to play keep away from his humans. He gets so excited when he has a new toy, he will prance around with it just to make sure everyone knows he has it. Lugnut is possibly mixed with some pig as he makes snorting pig noises when he gets really fired up about his toys. He's a laugh a minute and you can't help but smile when you are around him. He is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative and on preventatives. He is being fostered in Seguin, TX. To see more pictures and videos of Lugnut copy and paste this link, you can apply directly for Lugnut by clicking the “Apply for Adoption” button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-164 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy’s team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home. You can text unlimited questions to Petcademy and they'll respond within 24 hours (Monday-Friday). We only adopt in the USA. We are open to adopting in other states, except in Massachusetts. Story
Hi, I'm Zeus! I'm a 5-year-old staffy. I've had some ups and downs, but I'm ready to find my forever home. I really need somebody that's going to give me a structured life, with rules and boundaries. I enjoy structured walks with time to play on the playground, and tug is definitely one of my favorites! I will play fetch for a while... pretty cool that I just learned to bring the ball back instead of just chewing on it. I don't mind cats, but with other dogs I need a slow intro. Mostly, I just want to share your snacks and cuddle on the sofa with you. Animal Profile: Zeus is an estimated 5-year-old, 60 lb neutered male American Staffordshire Terrier who is looking for a loving forever home to call his own. His former owners shared a rental home with his current caretaker and then just up and left. He has been taken care of (rather than surrendered to a shelter) by this good samaritan ever since, and we are helping to find him a new home. Zeus is now crate trained and house trained and has obedience training too! He is friendly with all people and has lived with older children without any issues. Zeus was previously leash reactive but now walks politely with training tools; he will need an adopter willing to use a training collar to manage his leash reactivity. Zeus currently lives with other dogs and does fine with that as long as toys are not in the picture; he is prone to resource guarding toys (with other dogs, not people) and so toys would need to be managed in a multi-dog home. Zeus does live with cats and is OK with them -- good boy! He is currently fostered in Vancouver, WA and ready to meet you! Adopter Profile: Bully breed experience preferred Securely fenced yard required Balanced dogs considered Cats OK Adoption Info: Zeus’s adoption fee is $550, which includes neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Training Info: Zeus has been fully trained with A Dog's Best Friend in Vancouver WA. Training for adopters will be included with his adoption.  Animal History: Zeus was owned by a couple who left him in a shared home; another resident (who is a dog trainer) kept him to help find a forever home versus bringing him to a shelter, and has fostered him since summer 2022. He is currently fostered in Vancouver WA and available for adoption.September 30, 2023, 7:53 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Nutmeg is an estimated 3 year old, 70 lb neutered male mixed breed listed as a lab mix but likely with some bully too -- -- who knows? He was rescued from the high kill Bakersfield Animal Shelter where he was assessed to be timid but friendly with people and respectful of other animals; Nutmeg is very affectionate once he has a chance to get to know you. He has a gentle mellow energy. Foster Update:  Nutmeg is one sweet boy! While he can be a little shy at first, once he warms up he loves to be social! He will need a slow introduction to any potential dog friends, but loves to run & play in doggy daycare once he is comfortable. He loves to play ball and could do it all day! Nutmeg has been working hard on his obedience, and will thrive in a home where his new structure & skills will be kept up on. While he loves to run and play, at the end of the day he would love to snuggle up with his person.  Nutmeg has been in foster care with the trainers at A Dogs Best Friend in Vancouver, WA. He is a board and train grad, and has wonderful manners. Nutmeg is house and crate trained, and knows commands sit, down, heel (on a loose leash), place, and come. He participates in doggy daycare and enjoys his time with his trainers, but Nutmeg would love a family to call his own. Adoption Info: Nutmegs adoption fee is $550 which includes neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, negative heartworm test, microchip with lifetime registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go to the care for all dogs in the rescue. Apply online at www.doggoneseattle.org Animal History: Nutmeg was rescued from Bakersfield Animal Shelter and arrived to foster care in the Seattle area on 6/19/22. He will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.September 30, 2023, 7:53 pm

Story
HAPPIEST DOG EVER ALERT!! Hera is one happy, happy dog. She is described as not having a mean bone in her body and there isn't a single thing that she hasn't liked! Hera loves to go on runs with her human foster brother. Sometimes she pulls on the leash some, but she is correcting well. She is working on commands and manners. Sometimes she gets a little too excited about something and may jump, but she is learning quickly. Some of her favorite things are to play with her doggie foster brothers & sisters, who are each under 20 pounds. Hera understands that they are smaller than her and is so very gentle when playing with them. Toy time is the best time of day!! Hera makes all day long "toy time" though, as she has one in her mouth almost every waking minute. She is happy to share her toys and if one of the others wants one, she lets them have it, doesn't try and get it back and just goes and gets another. If no one is available to play with her toys with her, she is perfectly happy playing with them all by herself!! In the middle of all the runs, toys, playtime and learning; Hera loves nothing more than to love on her person, be in the lap, give sweet kisses and receive belly rubs. We are confident that Hera would do well in just about any household as long as she has exercise, a person who will love her as much as she would love them and a snuggle buddy for the middles!! Please be aware that all of our pets are in foster care in South Texas. They are transported to their new homes once adopted. We are 100% volunteer based, so it could take a day or 2 before we are able to process an application. If you are interested in adopting an animal, please fill out our adoption application using the blue Apply To Adopt button above and someone will review it shortly!

Story
Klint is a 6-7 year-old boxer/bully mix weighing around 60 lbs. He has tons of personality which makes him so much fun to be around. Klint’s favorite things include having “his” humans call his name to get his attention (he’ll RUN to meet you wherever you are), playing fetch, and eating cheese. He loves going for walks, curling up for long naps on rainy days, and thinks that Dick’s hamburgers might be the best food in the world. Klint’s ideal home would have a fenced in backyard where he can stretch, lie in the sun, and keep on the lookout for squirrels and birds. He also loves a good back scratch on dry grass! He’s been living with a foster family, where he’s impressed them with his good behavior, loving demeanor, and manners. He’s also shown to be incredibly smart, learning quickly what’s expected of him in the household. He needs to be the only pet and has reacted in the past with other animals. Given his energy level, he’d do best in a house without small children or frequent visitors/strangers. Unfortunately, Klint has been bounced in and out of a few homes as they didn't have time for him, leaving him alone for 12-13 hours per day. Due to this, he is a dog that does not want to be left alone for long periods of time and prefers a family that will give him the time and attention he deserves. Klint was mistreated by a man previously and now can be a bit apprehensive around new men. He may take a while to warm up to new people, but once he trusts them, he’s all in. Klint is neutered, UTD on his shots and micro-chipped. His adoption fee is $200.00.

Story
Cody is a 5 - 6 year old Boxer mix who is looking for a loving, active and structured forever home! He is sweet but had a rough beginning so will need a rescue experienced home that will help him build trust, learn basic obedience and gain confidence. He will bond to his people and loves attention and affection. He loves treats and is glad to work for them! He has not had a lot of training so will need support with continued basic obedience. He is looking for a home that is adult only or with kids over the age of 16. He will thrive in a home where he can be active, he loves to run around, go for walks, and would make an excellent outdoor activity partner. Cody can do well with other dogs but it is always best to do proper introductions to make sure it is a good match and that all parties 'mesh'. Cody would do best in a home with a large fenced yard where he can run, roam and play. Cody is UTD on shots, has had a dental, is microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $400.
