Story
Meet Jake This handsome man is Jake Gyllenpaws. Jake is a real model and is good at stealing hearts with his good looks. His foster mom says Jake has the “model look” to him. He lays down and when you stop petting him, he looks back at you with "Blue Steel." Of course, this look often ends with more pets and kisses for the sweet boy. How could you not just love all over this boy? Jake loves to cuddle on the couch and be by your side soaking up all the love. After being stuck in the shelter, Jake has been working so hard on his doggie manners and wants to show you how far he's come. He can sit, lie down, and has been working on learning to stay. He is potty trained and loves to be outside in a yard with his family. He doesn’t much care for the crate, but his foster family is committed to showing him it can be a pawsitive place. Jake is a gentle boy and sensitive. After his last vet visit, he looked quite sad, so his foster mom took him to get a pup-cup and it made him very happy again. Jake will require continued spoiling and love, as he deserves the best. Jake is living with 2 other dogs in his foster family and loves having play mates. They get along very well outside of treat time. Jake would prefer not to share. It’s likely best to feed Jake separately from other resident dogs since he’s still learning that sharing is caring. This Jake Gyllenpaws isn’t a fan of cats. A home without felines is best for him. Jake is a Velcro boy and loves to be with his family. His human foster brother is turning out to be his best friend. Jake is learning to be gentle with him because he gets so excited when he sees him. Although Jake hasn’t met any smaller children, we think he would do well with kids over 10. He does like zoomies and with his zest for life, he may knock over the smaller ones trying to play. Sweet Jake is a real lap dog at heart and loves being by your side. If you're looking for an energetic and loving pup to join your family, Jake Gyllenpaws could be the perfect match for you! To see more pictures and videos of Jake copy and paste this link, you can apply directly for Jake by clicking the “Apply for Adoption” button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-170 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy’s team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home. Story
Daisy was adopted almost 3 years ago as a puppy. She has been very fearful and submissive from the start. She needs someone patient who can be home at night. She is almost 3.5 years old. She has bitten several people in the past, but is now muzzle trained and will need someone to look out for her triggers (like people getting too close). She will need a private yard to do her potty business, preferrably in a family without small children. Daisy is cuddly, she is very emotionally sensitive, and she loves playing with her chew toys all day. She also enjoys sun bathing and swimming.

Story
Freya is a sweet, smart, loving girl, approximately 1 year of age. We started fostering her in November of 2023, fell in love with her and adopted her. We have 2 other dogs - and one of them has not been able to accept Freya and despite all of our efforts in training etc… she makes Freya’s life miserable. Freya has a wonderful personality. She sits, lays down, shakes, waits. She is crate trained and although she currently lives in a home with no children, she was fostered with a family with children and did well. She had been enrolled in ongoing obedience training and really wants to please. We are still working on her leash work (she pulls). Our trainer is willing to talk with any potential adopters about Freya. Freya should not be in a home with cats. She wants to chase at every opportunity. She would do great in a home where she can get a lot of exercise but also cuddle and be a couch potato. We want Freya to have a wonderful life with a loving family❤️

Story
Hi, I'm Zeus! I'm a 5-year-old staffy. I've had some ups and downs, but I'm ready to find my forever home. I really need somebody that's going to give me a structured life, with rules and boundaries. I enjoy structured walks with time to play on the playground, and tug is definitely one of my favorites! I will play fetch for a while ... pretty cool that I just learned to bring the ball back instead of just chewing on it. I don't mind cats, but with other dogs I need a slow intro. Mostly, I just want to share your snacks and cuddle on the sofa with you. Animal Profile: Zeus is an estimated 5-year-old, 60 lb neutered male American Staffordshire Terrier who is looking for a loving forever home to call his own. His former owners shared a rental home with his current caretaker and then just up and left. He has been taken care of (rather than surrendered to a shelter) by this good Samaritan ever since, and we are helping to find him a new home. Zeus is now crate trained and house trained and has obedience training too! He is friendly with all people and has lived with older children without any issues. Zeus was previously leash reactive but now walks politely with training tools; he will need an adopter willing to use a training collar to manage his leash reactivity. Zeus currently lives with other dogs and does fine with that as long as toys are not in the picture; he is prone to resource guarding toys (with other dogs, not people) and so toys would need to be managed in a multi-dog home. Zeus does live with cats and is OK with them -- good boy! He is currently fostered in Vancouver, WA and ready to meet you! Adopter Profile: Bully breed experience preferred Securely fenced yard required Balanced dogs considered Cats OK Adoption Info: Zeus’s adoption fee is $550, which includes neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Training Info: Zeus has been fully trained with A Dog's Best Friend in Vancouver WA. Training for adopters will be included with his adoption.  Animal History: Zeus was owned by a couple who left him in a shared home; another resident (who is a dog trainer) kept him to help find a forever home versus bringing him to a shelter, and has fostered him since summer 2022. He is currently fostered in Vancouver WA and available for adoption.May 7, 2024, 3:55 am

Story
Animal Profile: Nutmeg is an estimated 3-year-old, 70 lb neutered male mixed breed listed as a lab mix but likely with some bully too -- who knows? He was rescued from the high kill Bakersfield Animal Shelter where he was assessed to be timid but friendly with people and respectful of other animals; Nutmeg is very affectionate once he has a chance to get to know you. He has a gentle mellow energy. Foster Update: Nutmeg is one sweet boy!  He will need a proper introduction to any potential dog friends, but he enjoys to running and playing with his canine friends at doggy daycare. He lives to play ball and could do it all day. Nutmeg has been working hard on his obedience, and will thrive in a home where his skills will be kept up on. This energetic dude also has an off switch, and would be happy to snuggle up at the end of the day for a snooze. Nutmeg has been in foster care with the trainers at A Dogs Best Friend in Vancouver, WA. He is a board and train grad, and has wonderful manners. Nutmeg is house and crate trained, and knows the commands sit, down, heel (on a loose leash), place and come. He participates in doggy daycare and enjoys his time with his trainers, but Nutmeg would love a family to call his own. Adoption Info: Nutmegs adoption fee is $550 which includes neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, negative heartworm test, microchip with lifetime registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go to the care for all dogs in the rescue. Apply online at www.doggoneseattle.org Animal History: Nutmeg was rescued from Bakersfield Animal Shelter and arrived to foster care in the Seattle area on 6/19/22. He will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.May 7, 2024, 3:55 am

Story
Animal Profile: Meet Ryder! He's an estimated 2-year-old, 55 lb neutered male bully mix. He came to the shelter as a stray and was a staff favorite. They described him as friendly, fun and adorable.   Foster Update: Ryder is a handsome and energetic dog who loves to play. He gets lots of compliments, in part because of his muscular physique -- he looks like he hits the gym every day! Ryder loves to be with his people and becomes quite cuddly when you hold him or rub his belly. He’s always ready to chase, tug on a rope or fetch, and with practice will now happily drop the ball so you can throw it again. Ryder doesn't typically bark at other dogs but he is strong and has a rough-and-tumble play style; in true pitty fashion, he loves to bump and go under/over other dogs. Ryder will need a tolerant and sturdy canine companion if he goes to a home with a resident dog. Ryder is crate trained and has good house manners -- he doesn't chew on off-limits items like furniture, shoes or socks. He's come a long way with his impulse control: He used to get very excited coming out of the crate or greeting guests but has shown willingness to respond to a firm "NO." It's helpful that he is quite food and praise motivated; belly rubs are the best! Ryder has shown he can be quite in tune with your mood: When you're excited he's ready to go! When you're calm, he's ready for snuggles. With all his training progress his new nickname is "Little Gentleman." This loving boy will make a beautiful addition to the right family -- pitbull breed experience preferred!  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current core vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, health certificate, heartworm test, transport from California to Seattle. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org Animal History: This dog was rescued from euthanasia at Tulare high-kill shelter in California and arrived to foster care in Seattle on Thurs 7/20/23. He will be available for adoption after evaluated in foster care in the greater Seattle area.May 7, 2024, 3:55 am

Story
Meet Abby! This beautiful 8-month-old, 33-pound princess is truly the most adorable and cute little girl you'll ever meet. She is a little survivor of 12, her mom was abandoned and at one day old, Abby and her 11 siblings were left in a box in the middle of nowhere with no shade. When we came for them after receiving a report from a neighbor of the owner, there were only 5 babies left alive, and we found the rest already dead inside a plastic bag with a knot in it. Abby grew up happy with her litter, they are very active and loving little ones. She is learning to walk on her leash, lives well with dogs and cats and is the most chubby of her litter. She is the smiliest and is very intelligent. It would be ideal for her to grow up in a home with children, she likes walks and although she is a little shy at first, she usually comes out of her shell quickly. The $550.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to Oregon or Washignton. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date. Microchip. Microchip registration to new owner paid for. Collar. Temporary leash.
