Story
HI - I'M PACO! I am a sweet 1-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix in need of a forever home! I was rescued from the streets of Ensenada, Mexico, by a compassionate Canadian couple who then tried to find me a home. Eventually I was placed in a rescue and am doing great! Now, I spend my days running around, playing with my doggy pals, and then taking a much needed nap! I weigh only 40 lbs and am a happy, fun-loving boy. I am an affectionate sweetheart and love nothing more than to snuggle. I'm also fully housebroken and great with cats! Personality-wise, I'm quite mellow but I do get excited when I'm showered with love and attention. I can't wait to become someone's best friend! Please email for an application.

Story
Meet Kaido, the shepherd mix. This medium sized guy (36lbs) arrived at the Shelter after his previous family was moving and unable to continue caring for him. Kaido has lived with another dog (a smaller breed male), is crate trained and enjoys walks. After a little bit of decompression, Kaido has been soft and interested in interacting with staff and volunteers. He prefers more mellow dogs and sniffing them – backing away if he is overwhelmed. Kaido would likely do well as the only dog in his next home but may coexist with a mellow dog as well as a slow, thoughtful introduction. He does have a history of being crate trained and was crated when left home alone for 4-6 hours a day. He loves kong style toys. Kaido knows `sit`, `stay`, `leave it` and is still perfecting `down`. He is a good sized adventure bud and loves riding in the car!The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Seen and saved by one of our partners, Louie was being given away at a flea market, timidly trying to hide in his tiny wire crate. Louie has a big heart and an even bigger personality! He’s full of curiosity and a LUV for the simple joys, like chasing his furiends around the yard, soaking up the sun, and melting into you for snuggles. Highlights ❣️ House, Crate, Leash trained ❣️ LUVs dogs ❣️ Smart, affectionate, and oh so silly ❣️ Would thrive in a home with a private yard With our AZ partners, we rescue pups in need from the Reservation in Navajo Nation. Our Rez pups are truly special; there’s something magical about them that’s hard to put into words — but once you meet them, you’ll never forget them. This sweet, gentle boy is looking for a calm, patient family who can help him continue to grow and blossom into the confident and joyful companion he’s meant to be. If you're ready to offer Louie a safe, LUVing home filled with sunshine, snuggles, backyard adventures, and unconditional love, he can’t wait to meet you! All Mutt Luv Rescue pups receive a full health checkup, heartworm and parasite testing, are fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before adoption. Ready to fall in LUV? Fill out an application to meet Louie and find your new ride or die!

Story
Meet Bandit! - Fosterd in Florida Bandit is a young and handsome energetic pup. He is around 40lbs and is a year old.  He needs a person willing to spend time continuing his training as he is young and still in the chewing stage. He is treat and attention motivated.  He is crate trained, rides well in car, he has made great strides on leash walking and potty training. Bandit has a silly, fun personality. He is very curious and has a lot of potential, I would say medium to high energy but he does have an off switch.  He was a little nervous during thunderstorms but just needs to know where his person is. Bandit is an all around love bug that gets along well with other dogs, is neutered, current on immunizations and on preventatives. If he sounds perfect for your family, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration ane transfer to his new furever family.  All adoption fees are used for future rescue eforts. ##2085124##

Story
Fostered in Salt Point, NY.    Meet Baby Blue a diamond in the ruff. He is a blue healer mix who is around 2 years old. He came into the shelter as a stray so nothing is known about his earlier life but since coming to my house he has been working on manners and basic obedience. This will need to continue in his new home. He is a big dog at 65 pounds and can be pushy, rude, and sometimes pulls hard while on leash. He loves to cuddle and will force himself onto your lap and flip your hand to make you pet him. He is very active and needs a home who will exercise his body and mind. No cats or small children, he will knock them down, but older dog savy kids are ok. He loves to chew bones, is good loose in the house, and sometimes sleeps upside down in the cutest way. Baby Blue gets along with all the dogs in the house and needs a fenced in yard to run and sunbathe. If you would like more information about Baby Blue I would love to share more. He is currently in foster in Salt Point, NY. If you think Baby Blue is the a perfect fit for you and your family  please submit our adoption application at the link below. https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There are some additional fees: $20 microchip transfer fee to register and transfer him to his new furever family. ##2089054##
